These wear quicker than rivals' tyres.

They were the second last placed tyres in this wear test.

Seems a bargain tbf at just over £50 per tyre- anyone tried this company & tyres?

Company - excellent for tyres used them many times
Tyres - mid range. Had them before with no issue.
I do not think you will get any cheaper for reasonably good tyres fitted. (edited)

Avon tyres wears off quickly; some 18-21k miles and they gone, so false savings. Had Pirelli, Semperit, Good Year and they easily done 41k on same car and same driving style. Cracking too, as others mentioned.

The longer they last, the harder they are, the less grip you get. Generally

Good deal. I had these back in 2020, set of 4 tyres from ATS for slightly less about £190. I rotated them around the car every 5000 miles too. They lasted around 16000 miles, they worn down to 2mm. I had continental tyres before that lasted almost 40,000 miles but don't forget they cost twice the price and also if you get a puncture your wallet won't be thanking you for buying the more expensive tyres. Better to buy cheap and twice with tyres in my opinion. (edited)

This is a good point. I've had to replace as many tyres with screws and nails in that had reasonable life left but couldn't be repaired as I have those that have reached their limit in terms of tread left.

Please google avons and cracking, i had avons and they cracked very quickly

Can you define "very quickly" - along with your annual mileage?

I just had a set of Avon's put on to replace 5 y/o (21k) Hankooks which were cracking at the tread but still plenty of tread left.

From the research I did before replacing it seems to be a very common theme for low mileage vehicles particularly with short journeys where the oils in the rubber are not distributed and UV prematurely dries them out.

They are budget/midrange but for £50 a wheel fitted it's a great deal for those who can't afford premium tyres like Continental,Michelin, etc
at least Avon is much better than those awful Chinese budget tyres like Triangle costing the same..

These crack after 2-4 years and will fail MOT

Cracking should be on advisory section not a fail. But this is the UK and it's very bent when it comes to MOT tests.

Great deal. I looked at these last week, I needed 4 tyres and with limited funds simply couldn't afford them... I think they were £77 per tyre which I thought wasn't a bad price.

Ended up finding a reasonably priced 'Runway' budget tyre at £69.98 with £20 off if you bought 4. Didn't get round to buying as I'd spent hours looking online and put it off to this week, so grateful I looked on HUKD as you and this deal just saved me c£100. Thanks very much for taking the time to post mate, that saving is huge for me at the moment.

Had these but they wore very very quickly, so quick in fact i thought i had been ripped off with fake tyres, but i took them back (to quickfit) to have them checked and they assured me they were in deed real. Currently on rain sport 3's and they have legit lasted 3-4x longer.

These Avons don't have great tyre ratings and the reviews are not favourable. Definitely a mid range option as an alternative to a budget no name tyre. For about £40-50 more you could get way better. But that's 20% more of course. Always worth shopping around the different tyre fitting websites, as there's always a promotion on.

The outer layer of rubber on the sidewall of a tyre can crack but it's not dangerous and it’s not an MOT failure. (edited)

ATS do rotate their offers with a different manufacturer each month. Avons being the cheapest up to Michelin that are about £80 per tyre fitted. With all others (Pirelli, Good Year, Firestone and Dunlop) all somewhere in between. (edited)

I've used Avon ZV7 tyres for around 6yrs on my A4 Avant, no problems whatsoever and would buy again.

Typical just paid £133 for 2 of these (same size) at National. They were about best price at time I needed them. Had these tyres before and no issues. They are upper end of budget or mid range so not expecting the greatest.
Shame I had 2 stuck locking wheel nuts that added to the cost. Why do places overtighten locking wheel nuts?
    maddoglewis's avatar
    maddoglewis
They're a pain. I've replaced all 4 of mine with normal nuts

As well as cracking i had problems with my avons slowly deflating. Not sure if this was due to bad ATS fitting due to my alloys being old, or with the tyres themselves.

Have since had michelins installed and told fitters to put lots of "glue" around edge to stop defating , they have been fine ever since. (edited)

Most likely ats. I had same issue, initially thought it was normal. Now I know it was most likely ats

I've had really good results in this size with their house brand Genysis/Hilo tyres.
They've gone up quite a bit, since I bought my first pair 30,000 miles ago but there's still plenty of tread left and have excellent wet grip in my experience.

Had cracks in walls with Avon tyres (fitted by ATS) that failed MOT. Low mileage and only a couple of years old. Never buying again. You might have a different experience with them.

Tyresonthedrive\Halfords\National tyres currently have 10% off 2 or 15% off 4 of these tyres and the prices are good even before discounts.
I got a set of 4x 245\35\19 fitted on my car for £500, even for midrange that's an amazing price. Cheap ditchfinders in my size cost almost as much
Closer to £700 elsewhere for Avon's.

I usually stick to Goodyear Eagle F1's but would have been looking at £800 for those so happy to go back to Avon's for a few thousand miles (edited)

    Will this work if you've got 215/55 R16 ?
That's what i currently got at the moment. I was told on different occasions i should be using 205's anyway for this car
