I went to Dublin for the day last week with Ryanair flying from Luton. Only cost £30 return and was there in a hour. Arrived at 8am and flight back at 9pm. Cheap way of sampling Dublin.

yeah you can do similar from Manchester too.

I was also looking at doing cork for a day trip (£24)
flight times are similar..so maximizing the day.

Dublin is in the top three most expensive places I’ve visited. However saying that almost every bar had live music which was amazing.
    Great weekend I had there.

I agree 100%. Dublin is very very expensive, and nothing much to see really. Ireland’s gems are in the countryside. Hotel prices are extortionate!

The ferry trip is awful. Just fly

That is a ridiculous journey just for the day. Even for people who actually live in Holyhead it's stupid.

Not for us, we were caravanning in Trearddur Bay and did it on a gorgeous Summers day last August simply as a booze cruise, we got the morning ferry out and had to get off at Dublin port for about an hour, we stayed in the terminal and got the same boat back but stocked up on dirt cheap booze and baccy, the day we went they had Litre bottles of Stoli vodka on offer for £5 and decent whiskey for around £12.
We got bevvied up on the way back sitting on the sunny side of the exterior deck on an unusually flat calm sea, it was a great day out, we even saw a few pods of dolphins just before getting into Dublin port. (edited)

Just not worth the hassle, why don’t they just do a next day return

Believe it or not it's actually possible to drive to Holyhead from other places in order to take up this deal.

Do you have to travel both ways or can you get 2 returns as a cheap alternative to a normal return?

Ie- Take the return from Dublin-Holyhead and the one way part of the 2nd return back to Dublin?

Not worth the effort for the short time you'd actually get in Dublin. The prices there are absolutely extortionate too. If you want a better slice of Ireland just get a flight to Belfast...much better city and much cheaper when you get there. Plus you don't lose any money on exchange rates, as it's pounds and pence there ;-)

Unless the site is down, this is what I get regardless of what dates I choose

Just tried it myself, and it worked. I did get a similar error message before for some dates. Refreshing the page should fix it, also ensure that the outward and return are on the same date otherwise it goes messy.

Great for euro booze cruise, better than going to Calais, thanks op

You need transport if buying 42 litres of beer and/or 18 litres of wine. How much to take a car or van? RayB.
    PaulandPam's avatar
When we went people had shopping carts like these stacked with booze so no need to pay for a car unless you really need to 'fill up'
