Three nights? Takes what - 9 hours to get there+ transfers, in probably the coldest month of the year, you'd have to be mad.

Some people might like that. I've been over Christmas 3 times. It was -14 last Christmas when I got there. Way too cold of course but when it went up to -5 I was absolutely fine. You keep warm by walking around.

Where's a good place to find hotels in New York for july/early August? Tia

I would post your dates and budget in $ on the NYC TripAdvisor forum and get some recommendations on there. FYI - you're looking at around $200 a night for a half decent hotel in Manhattan.

Once you get there , there is an extortionate resort fee, a cash deposit is required, returnable at end of stay, plus various city taxes etc, this is why NY is fast becoming a no go for many tourists, far too expensive and add in the rampant forced tipping culture and its a defo pass for me.....

Forced tipping infuriates me, I just don't understand it. The cheek of some waiting staff!

When will governments and hotels realise that all these taxes and resort fees just put tourists off coming - plenty of other cities that don’t charge

Perfectly legal to refuse to pay resort fees in NYC.

They then have the right to refuse to let you stay

Wouldn’t touch OYO with a barge pole. Check out alternative hotels if you want this deal, I say.

Resort fees in downtown NY, ughhh!
Even on Las Vegas Strip, there's hotels that don't charge them.
