Does this include resort fees? I've looked at going back to Vegas several times over the years and the resort fees just kill any decent prices

Don't think it will include resort fees with love holidays. They have become a total rip off . Its now $49.67 resort fee PER NIGHT in most of the nice hotels and over $40.00 in not so nice hotels like the Strat .
I am a 20 trip veteran of Vegas and won't go back now . Its just too expensive.
All the nicer bars the drinks prices are now over $20 a cocktail and $10 a beer .
    Food is extortionate.
You can get cheap beers is the likes of casino royal , but even there $1 cheap bottles are $3.99 now and it's full of cigarette smoke .
Too put it in context for Value ( i know its a total different type of holiday and its Thailand, but its stunning) i stay in Thailand phuket and Krabi about 4-6 months a year . I pay around $29 for a nice 4 star hotel And $40-$48 a night for some 5 star on Agoda . That's less that the resort fee in Vegas . The Vegas I know has change and my last trip was recent last year . I was in Vegas a couple of weeks ago, totally different vibe there now, agree prices are mental in fairy land compared to normal land, resort fees are outrageous, got caught out on a new scan where you have to OPT IN for maid service so never got our rooms cleaned and made up, Ok you learn after day one and call reception to find out why and get it sorted for the following day, but if everybody is missing day one they are making a great saving. Free parking is almost all gone, yes there are a few places including the Fashion Mall car park that are free as well as a few hotels, most are the out of the way ones like Circus circus near the Strat. Our hotel had limited sun beds by the pool, the rest were the big day beds you rent at huge cost per day and its so hot your not going to be staying there that long, drinks by the pool were also a huge rip off $22 plus 20% tip for a couple of cokes!

I have done vegas so many times that will be my last trip there, for those that have never been then I guess its an experience, but not the cheap getaway it used to be.

One place I would recommend and not far from the strip in Vegas is this BBQ place, its where the locals eat and is a down to earth really well cooked BBQ food venue at fantastic value prices. They are doing really well and expanding, they now have a few venues see here rollinsmokebarbeque.com

I thought that US BBQ was good until I tried argentinian asado. A whole new level of excellence.
In Vegas there's a place called "Rincon de Buenos Aires Restaurant" that's pretty good. (edited)

I've stayed here. Decent place and location

Stratosphere is miles away from where most people want to be on the strip. Ok for Freemont Street but a couple of hours there is more than enough.

9 nights is far too long in Vegas IMHO
    Gadgetdeals's avatar
Totally agree 9 nights is crazy, 3 or 4 then drive over to the West coast LA, Beverley Hills, Santa Monica, drive down the Pacific Coast highway to San Diego, then across to Palm Springs, across to the Grand Canyon doing some route 66 then back up to Vegas, there are interesting things to see and do on the way, small hilly billy mining villages up in the desert hills with gunfights in the streets and donkeys roaming around, nothing to stop you leaving your hotel room and return a week later, I have done that before on a 14 night stay as to was cheaper to get the package than individual flight to LA.

Its nearly £250 on check out for the resort fees so add that to the deal price . And don’t forget to add tax and 15-20% tip on everything in Vegas . If you don’t tip well the waitresses have started actually giving you abuse . (edited)

Agree, our last visit was horrible, streets littered with vagrants, overpriced beer and food, not a nice place to go now, come on LV you can do better.
  6. adamguest1985's avatar
Anecdotal, sure, but I wouldn't go anywhere near this end of the strip again if you paid /me/.

Had a bag snatched in the Stratosphere lobby at breakfast time by an obviously chemically dependant young lady (edited)

Yes, it's remarkably down at heel in this part of Vegas. Called into a McD for breakfast on way to MOB museum near here and it was unbelievable. It's good at the top of the stratosphere for a visit but that is it

In general, the US has become very expensive. I was there in April for work and the absolutely bog standard hotel was $180 a night plus taxes; this was the super discounted rate as part of a group booking. Even fast food has become expensive. A 20% tip is now considered "normal".

I think Vegas represents the worst of humanity, on so many levels from prostitution through to mob-run casinos. Don't get me wrong, building a hell hole in the middle of a desert and decorating it in a neon-lit facade to draw in swathes of people with the mathematical capabilities and instincts of a moth, was quite an accomplishment. It's the epitome of degeneracy and decadence.
    SeamusO's avatar
Think you need to take a day off. Vegas hasn't been run by the mob for decades. Plus there's plenty of hookers, druggies and casinos in every city in the UK. Used to love calling into vegas as part of a road trip as it is off the scale in terms of architecture and over the top things. Great shows and restaurants and you could stay in fantastic hotels for peanuts. Way too expensive now though for me. (edited)

Not quite sure why this is getting heat, it's possible up there with the worst hotels on the strip ( it's not even on the strip) and it's in one of the roughest areas

Here's my thoughts on vegas from my trip last winter:

It's stupidly expensive and they will shamelessly rip you off. Sky High resort feess, fridges where if you even lift a drink, you get billed a stupid amount of money (mini-tip: you can request these fridges be removed and replaced with empty ones. Too many devices connected to the hotel wifi at once? Bam, they charge you the insanely expensive additional wifi fee for your entire trip. Check out a second past when you should, you're getting a big fee. All comes from the $500 hold put on your card when you check in.

Buffets are so expensive as to remove their point. $80pp for the nicer ones, $40 for a standard one. For the same price you could eat at a good quality restaurant and order enough to stuff your face. I ate at a Guy Ferrari Burger place which was very nice (tiny menu though) but In'n'Out is a must on the Linq promenade (better than 5 guys and good value).

The Vegas monorail is really handy, saves a huge amount of walking around the best part of the strip. There are BOGOF vouchers around (the MyVegas rewards game/app).

The odds in the casinos are abysmal. Triple 0 roulette, low odd & low volatility slots that will just slowly drain all you money and only give tiny wins. Also disappointingly, very little slots variety, even between casinos (they're all owned by 1 of 2 companies which doesn't help). Comps are stingy and rare, waitresses basically ran past the people gaming, you have to be paying attention to flag one down for a drink.

Every Major casino has a unique Cirque Du Solei show. Look up the shows and decide on the one you think looks the best.

Vegas is freezing in the Winter, dress for the cold. Also the streets of full of fake dancer girls (if you take a picture, expect to be made to stump up a significant amount of cash), scams with kids collecting "for their basketball team" and lots of homeless/drug addicts.

Ubers are trivial to get (most hotels have a pickup zone) and surprisingly not that expensive, even from the Airport.

Non casino things to try: Mob Musuem, Meow Wolf's Omega Mart.

And to add to all of the above: it is with Love Holidays who refuse to even talk to you or answer an email regarding ANYTHING. They are just a terrible company to deal with.

Vegas is the kind of place it's nice to have a couple of days in to appreciate how crazy it is to build such a city in the middle of absolutely nowhere.

    But 9 nights?

Think of the outstanding scenary in the Western US that you could be looking at instead!

I always remember this MacMaster video for what a complete ripoff Vegas can be, check out how much these 2 CANS of beer were...

Flamingo hotel, I paid $8 for a can of monster. There's a reason hotel stores don't have visible prices. Stock up from the Target near the the MGM Grand.

That said, it was a can of lemonade rehab which hasn't been available here for close to a decade so it was worth it...

There were hookers handing out 'business cards' when I was there, seems to be the norm, they had a BOGOF offer but had to be taken at the same time, very hard to believe in fact unbelievable, maybe business is slow! I kindly declined the offer and had a smokey BBQ meal instead and no ill effects after!
    jumpinoffthbed's avatar
Do they still leave the cards with pictures on them everywhere? I used to entertain myself hiding them in the pockets and luggage of whoever I was travelling with, I managed to get one in a passport & it fell out at the check in desk

I used to do a road trip around the states every 5-10 years and loved it. Haven't been since 2016 because of Covid & vegas was getting pricey then with hotels charging for parking and the buffets not cheap any more, sounds like it's gone too far now. If you've never been you really only need a day to walk around the hotels, see Freemont, head up the stratosphere and do a ride. Hotels like stratosphere should be cheap sun-Thurs and after breakfast rent a car and get yourself off to Yosimite or head to San Francisco on the greyhound and enjoy the sights. If you wanted to squeeze it in or add a few days you could take the coastal road down to LA and see Malibu & Venice.

9 nights in a casino hotel? You'll come out a gambler with no money left😁 Seriously, not much else to do in the middle of the desert. Just wondering in your hotel how many other lovely places on the West coast you are not visiting because you booked 9 nights in Vegas. (edited)

There's alot to do in Vegas that's not gambling - but you do need a car. ( uscarhire.com )

    Shows
zipwire down the canyon (Not the freemont one)
    shoot guns
    hoover dam
    grand canyon
2 national parks (One to the west, one to the north east )
    smash room
    2 outlet malls

these are a few of the things we've done.

For people who have been in the last 5/10 years. What would you say is the best hotel alongside being great value? Bellagio?

Been every year in December for last 5 years apart from covid for 1 year ,I get comp rooms with my mgm rewards app but have to pay resort tax but get 50 dollars food beverage credit and 20 dollars free play , staying in Luxor again this year , the best hotel we stayed in I think was treasure island though . Loads of stuff to do , buy our beer cans up at Walmart . Also play the myVEGAS apps to swap gold coins for rewards and usually get a few 20 dollars off 40 dollars at casino bars , the Luxor public house does a fantastic double Swiss cheese burger or hot boneless chicken and blue cheese salad which Is massive . We get a £5 dollar off strip 24hrs bus ticket and use that to go to shopping outlets , freemont , Walmart target and ihop . But yeah it’s getting expensive . We always do December which can be cold but they have two weeks of rodeo finals , the whole place is full of cowboys and cow girls . Also outback steak house is great halfway down strip in casino royale opposite the volcano .
