Does O2 usually cancel deals like these? Anybody know?
    Wonka71's avatar
People got theirs when they same thing was done with the 100£ off code last week. Albeit this is 200, I think they just send them out. Not sure if any got cancelled.

Got mine today, has anyone called in to cancel the sim? how easy is it?

Just the generic 03448090202 and selected the option to leave, then said I'd like to cancel the airtime contract

Got my tracking email. Can someone give me an idiots guide how to cancel the contract? Do they still occasionally give you grief (edited)

the least risk of hassle is to port out the o2 number using the pac request to 65075, grab a free vodafone sim as they don't require a top up to activate, port the o2 contract number on to it and the o2 sim will disconnect, this way theres no requirement to call a cs agent who may or may not know what they are doing

I'm an O2 customer already on a very cheap (£9/month) 12 month contract that was due to renew in August. I called up yesterday and got myself to the retentions team who were able to give me £200 off the Pixel 7 and not be stuck in a long contract.

Now I understand this won't be for everyone but this is what the guy said I could do to get the discount, and looking at the contract, I see no reason why this won't work for me. I also apologise in advance if this makes no sense.

As an O2 customer he sold me the ulimited data plan for £28 per month, as this is a large plan he was able to apply a £200 discount to the Pixel 7 at £387 making it £187 as a retention deal. As soon as it arrives I can call up and pay off the £187 for the phone, the contact states I have the right to early replayment in all or part at any time. So he said the idea is, get the phone, call and pay it off then terminate the contract. For information the monthly works out as contract £28 plus phone £5.20, a total of £33.20. The rep said the only thing holding you in to a contract is paying off the phone, which at this point, I would have done so I'm free to cancel.

How did you get in with this? Did it work. Thanks

When do we cancel the monthly contract on this? Just when the courier has delivered? So the phone and sim arent actiavted and get the full £9 back? (edited)
    Wonka71's avatar
Just wait till the phone arrives. On the Charles100 code people got their phones, then just cancelled once it's in their possession, cos in theory the phone should be with you tomorrow if you managed to get in before the code expired.

They wrecked my credit score with the hard search does anyone how long does it take for the credit score to improve after such dip in points? I was like 999 now I'm around 840 points. If I'll cancel the card, can I ask for the search to be removed? Also, I know questions were asked many times, but what's the best way to cancel the card? Straight away or should I wait 30 days? What is this whole waiting about? Cheers guys (edited)

For all those that missed this deal it expired in about 50 seconds so don't beat yourself up about it, even those like me who saw it pop up didn't have time to navigate the poorly constructed 02 menus.

But we need to see these photos otherwise we'd probably think it was all a marketing trick or some kind of scam

I literally had my basket on O2 saved from the last £100 deal, just waiting for another code to be a available worth doing the same, increases your chances if it's a race against time.
  24. B_Marvel's avatar
Phone just arrived. Awesome deal OP.
  25. rovingman's avatar
Any risk to the credit rating if we cancel the monthly rolling contract as soon as the phone is delivered? I don't think it should affect the credit rating, but one of my friends has shown evidence his credit rating dipped significantly due to two of these O2 refresh deals. I have taken the £9 / monthly option, thinking of using it for a couple of months before cancelling.
    B_Marvel's avatar
Your credit score is meaningless. They make it up.

It's your credit report that matters.

Expired, it's a phone with some big limitations...i.e. poor battery life being the most obvious and terrible fingerprint scanner
