*** Behringer U-PHONE UFO202 USB/Audio Interface ~ Price Update ***

Further to the deal I posted last week for the Behringer U-PHONE UFO202 USB/Audio Interface I'm happy to report that Amazon have dropped the price back to £17.66

amazon.co.uk/gp/…512

Ends...,

Forgot to post yesterday when I bought for £17.66 but they've bumped price up to £20.90... still not a bad deal.

Might be of interest to those that bought either the Monitor Audio Monitor 50 or 100 Bookshelf Speakers posted on here earlier this week?

I bought not to transfer my vinyl but to use with an old Technics SL-J300R Linear Tracking Turntable that had been gathering dust for past 20 years in the loft which apparently is now worth a few quid along with some Monitor Audio 50 Bookshelf Speakers which were posted on here this week for the crazy cheap price of £41!

I doubt this will attract much heat but might be of interest to some, only wish I posted yesterday when it was £17 but hey ho.

Edit:… I was a bit ignorant when it came to these pre-amps, I’d only ever used a turntable, cassette etc with a dedicated amplifier in the past. I was therefore a bit lost when I tried to plug a turntable into my AV receiver and couldn’t hear anything! Some investigation via YouTube educated me in the need for a pre-amp like this. I can now plug my turntable and speakers into this little device much like a big heavy amp… perfect. And it only cost less than £20 and takes up hardly any space! I may even digitize my vinyl collection which this can help you do with the bundled software but that wasn’t the reason for purchase.

Pretty sure you can use these with a RPi to create a digital radio station you can cast to Sonos, if anyone is interested in that kind of thing. I keep meaning to do it.

@sabresonic @marra This is the instructable I have bookmarked for it: instructables.com/Add…rue

I’ve not revisited it for a year or two because, err life and children, but I don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t work in 2023. A bit fiddly but definitely doable and far cheaper than buying an expensive Sonos amp (do they even sell them anymore?).

been using the Behringer UCA202 that I got for about £12 ( is £26 now) from Amazon, five years ago. Connects my laptop to my Audio amp via usb-phono. Have toyed with the idea of a more expensive DAC, but tbh, from people doing blind test comparisons, cheap-expensive, I doubt its worth it. (edited)

Audiophile? HaHaHa.....that`s very funny. It`s about as far from Audiophile as it`s possible to get.

"Using world-class headphones, a $2 Realtek integrated audio codec could not be reliably distinguished from the $2000 Benchmark DAC2 HGC in a four-device round-up. Again, all four devices sounded great."

Its an interesting unbiased read on Tomshardware, com

My thanks to everyone who commented on this post, negative or positive. Hopefully it educated some in phono pre-amp’s which I was completely ignorant of until I took a look at this little device. I feel I must give a shout out to Techmoan on YouTube, specifically his post
that introduced the Behringer pre-amp and the turntable he reviewed and the one I own hence my post.

Love Techmoan. Been watching for years and I've definitely witnessed the 'Techmoan Effect' with prices shooting up every time he reviews some vintage AV. I emailed the guy in the past with some nerdy questions and he even took the time to reply with a few paragraphs to explain and make recommendations! Really great guy.

I've just been plugging my old cassette deck into the mic in on my PC. Will this give better results?

Cool and thanks for the heat. I've just brought down my SL12010's from the loft where they've been gathering dust for 20 years LOL! Now the kids have left home I have some extra space for my toys! I'm aiming to reboot my decks with the help of this little device... for the money I'm blown away with what you can do with these inexpensive bits of kit. Good luck with your projects

You can't use "Behringer" and "Audiophile" in the same sentence mate

Mate... Perhaps take your comment/view up with Behringer who provide the product description? I'm just listing it as per Amazon's description.

Just out of curiosity maybe you could explain what clarifies as an 'audiophile' product please? I'm sure it will be helpful to many on this site and I look forward to your explanation. Thanks

Bought this for £12 a year or so ago. Useful gadget. Originally bought because I wanted optical out of an old PC.

To be fair, the "audiophile" wording is not only mentioned by Amazon but also Behringer themselves! Behringer | Product | UFO202

@louiselouise Thank you for that post, I had begun to think that people may have thought that I’d added ‘Audiophile’ to the product description whereas it was included in the product description as you pointed out!

Not that I’d be able to differentiate between an ‘audiophile’ product with one that isn’t… to be honest I don’t know what the difference is but I doubt I’d be able to tell the difference!

After many years mixing and playing with twin Technic decks with a headphone hanging off the side of my head I’m now a little hard of hearing in one ear!

Thanks to @smudgerama for posting that review. You don’t need to spend a fortune to get a good result, those that feel otherwise have clearly more money than sense and begs the question why are they hovering on HUKD’s?

A bit inspired so I shopped around and got a used one, delivered, for £10 off a site called reverb. I hope the pre-amp part does the proper RIAA curve thing. I'd borrowed one year's ago and the neat thing is that they also work as a dual output soundboard. Some mixing software requires dual output and not just two soundboard. There are some other similar Behringer products but I think thisbis the only one with the phone preamp. Thanks OP.

    Exactly the same?

I think Behringer do a few subtly different versions of this...

If you were to transfer an album or cassette do you have to be there to put a break in for each track as it plays or can you split it up afterwards using the software?
    dave7634's avatar
    dave7634
When I did a few of mine I put the breaks in after. Some tracks go silent before continuing the same song and the software I used, used to treat this as an extra track.

In most instances you'd be better getting a well mastered version digitally from somewhere, rather than doing it yourself. As soon as you're converting with this from an analogue source you're off to a loser. However I get it, not everything can be found on the web and some people like the idea of this. Cue audiophile snob comments. They already started....edit grammar. (edited)

Behringer are also a terrible company to work for and steal designs and reverse engineer from other companies. If you care for audio and want research to continue and improvements to be made if you buy Behringer you are spitting in the face of progress

Now I feel bad for buying a Behringer mixer not too long ago.
At least I bought it second hand, I suppose that lets me off a bit, lol. (edited)
