As usual with Dell, if you have an Amex card check to see if you have this offer available:

Hey, I've got a few games installed now. I've just played on CS GO for a bit, around 240-350 fps on High or very high settings. Fans are a bit noisy while playing, but my headset takes care of that. Quiet while doing normal laptop tasks.

Build quality is good, nothing special, no metal. Screen is super, great viewing from most angles, just watching Youtube is incredible compared with my old laptop (Lenovo 330s, intel gold processor, so really not hard to be better!)

It's a bit bulky on my small desk. It's up 6 inches in the air so I have more room for my external keyboard and mouse. My stand covers almost all of the air intakes, so I could do with changing that, or sticking a few coke caps under so the air can get in better.

No RGB on the laptop keyboard, I don't think anyway, just normal white background light.

If you have some specific questions then let me know and I'll try and answer them.

An additional note. I've had a play with the Alienware software, it's a bit rubbish. I've been using the Nvidia Geforce Experience. No blue screen or freezing issues with anything. (edited)

Many thanks. Was sorely tempted but not too many reviews around on the new 2023 G15 & some of the ones for the older G15 made me nervous.

I've got one of these, an earlier version, and they seem to have an issue with the hinges. I now can't close mine, so more of a PC than a laptop!
    Arthis's avatar
If you're willing to do some diy, you could do some disassembly and loosen the hinges a bit. I had to do that on my g3, otherwise the hinges were so tight, they were breaking the plastic on the lid.

There may, or may not, be issues going forward with mid-range graphics cards only having 8GB of VRAM. It's an issue being covered by several hardware sites and might be worth a research if you're thinking of buying a laptop or desktop GPU.
Now, in this instance of a relatively small screen whilst sitting a few feet away, not being able to run settings on high may not make any objective difference, but you could end up paying for a mid-range experience (1080p on high IMO) and not getting it.

Is there slots for more RAM on this?
    Skelly2345's avatar
2 ram slots, unsoldered according to support

    This vs my Lenovo Legion 5 15ACH6H Ryzen 7 5800H/16Gb/RTX 3070/512Gb

    Worth upgrading?
    JJJ946's avatar
    No.
Performance gains wouldn't be substantial to justify buying a new machine.

For just over a grand you are getting an awful lot for your money here, this is hot and tempting.
    andy_mathiesonWna's avatar
As long as the laptop doesn't get to hot it is great spec for price though
  9. Rosco1112's avatar
Thanks a lot managed to get it for £1044 with the extra 5% off. I also had the £100 Amex offer so potentially £944

I can't understand why 2.81 kg, I saw Legion 4080 around that weight but on another level, this one with 4060 shouldn't be so heavy. At least 400 nits, not the usual 250 nits pathetic ones. Good specs for price but a brick.
    PetrolHeadRR's avatar
That's gaming laptop, so expect extra weight added due to the high wattage GPUs. They will require much more cooling so copper is not spared.
  16. akuma_ali's avatar
    Would this play Diablo 4?
    Flashstatic's avatar
    yes
  17. R_ed's avatar
Have lower spec of this, it's had little use as it runs too hot.

This is Dell you would be better of with a Lenovo Legion. Lenovo could do some discounts over the Bank holiday

Aren't these meant to have very loud fans? Or is that the 30xx ones?
    filip737's avatar
I have a new one with a 40 Card, and the fans can run quick but not looooud. I don't know what people expect, the fans to be super quiet when they have to cool down a high spec machine?
  25. zwarder's avatar
    Does this run Doom?
Seriously considering been looking a decent screen & spec
