I got Eq5 for 225£ last year (it dropped to 199£ briefly later). I attached 30£ 140x60 IKEA top - it works great with it. The desk is good quality and very heavy - not as much wobble on the carpet as I had expected. I'd say it's really worth the money.

I’ve had the E7 frame for the past 2 and a bit years and it’s been faultless. My wife has the e5 and again no complaints but the e7 is more heavy duty and you can see where the extra money goes.

You don’t have to be s craftsman to fit a non flexispot top you just need to be able to use a drill. I already had an ikea linmon desk top so I reused that and the desk is super sturdy even at standing height and the top fitted great

Should I buy the desk top from flexispot or ikea?

FYI the ikea counter tops are wood veneer nowadays and not solid wood like they used to be. Significantly inferior.

Bought one of these two months ago, through a student discount for £200. A really good solid sturdy desk, used an ikea bamboo dining table top which is lightweight and ideal size. With two 24” screens, 14” laptop and keyboard and mouse. All works very well and well happy with it.

Is it easy enough to attach a desk top to it which doesn't have pre-drilled holes? I have an existing desk (not sit-stand), so thinking to take the legs off and use the top as I like the size of it.
    Czubaka's avatar

Yeah - It's really easy. Make sure it's aligned straight on both sides and drill in.

I bought two of the E5B models (black) in February 2020 . Both have solid oak 40mm worktops on them which I ordered from a kitchen supplier. One is 160cm and one 180. Two monitors on arms, plus a Mac mini mounted underneath . They have been superb. Hold the weight comfortably and never had a problem. Thoroughly recommend.

Got mine delivered today, are you supposed to get a bit of metal that covers the power brick? Literally every review I've seen of the e5 has this.

Also I seem to have the "old style" keypad and many posters on reddit seem to have a newer style keypad like this one:

In fact this keypad in photo is old style. This can be said to be the first generation. And you have the second generation. Now we will have 3rd generation in next shipment.

Good deals. Bought one of these a couple of months ago and has been fantastic. Really good build quality.

If you are looking for the bigger desks (140cm) better going with Purus Life. Significantly cheaper and build quality looks the same

Is there a significant advantage to the E5 over the Songmics one which is nearly £100 cheaper? songmicshome.co.uk/pro…113
    TheGalaxy's avatar
    TheGalaxy
    Main differences are:

E5 has 3 stage legs (much wider range of adjustability - shorter people benefit particularly. The Songmics one only goes down to a height which is fairly standard for desks, but arguably isn't "ideal" for those that are 5'8 or under or so, though personal preferences vary and footrests exist etc.)

E5 is dual motor (smaller motors so are hidden in the frame, handles more weight, faster lift etc)

E5 supports desk tops up to 180cm vs 160cm Songmics

5 year warranty on the E5, no idea on the a Songmics (can't see it mentioned - so 1 year probably?)

Just wondering if there is an alternative mechanism for having a sit stand set up? Thinking for most people it's really just operating a computer (no need for writing/stationary etc) so you just need to raise and lower the screen and mouse/keyboard. Are there any solutions which do this which I presume would be smaller and less expensive?
    TheGalaxy's avatar
    TheGalaxy
There are some "standing desk converters" which are certainly cheaper and maybe would work for you

As an example (only found quickly by search, I know nothing of it and there are many other options) amzn.eu/d/iiORbAj (edited)

I've just ordered the e5 frame. Not getting a top yet, the options seem a bit random and restricted. Depending on the desk and colour you get different random size options and the worktop section has another set of different sizes colours.

Would prefer something around 60cm deep (more than enough, don't see why so many are 80cm) and quite wide (160cm-180cm) and in a darker colour wood to match my floor.

Ordered a sample from www.tablesandtops.com. If this looks good I will give them a try when I've finished wiring and decorating.

Tempted to go for the E7.. Is there any major difference between the E5 and E7... Or any other good model worth considering?
    FlexiSpot_Team's avatar
    FlexiSpot_Team
The main differences are the load capacity and lifting speed.
    E7: 125kg, 38mm/s
    E5: 100kg, 35mm/s
    Also with different controllers.
You can check more details here.

And I can not recommend you other models, it may be against the HUKD TS&CS. Hope someone here else can help you.

Anyone have reccomendations for where to get a good deal on a solid wood worktop/tabletop?

Newcastle sort of area if in-store

Looked at some online worktop suppliers but prices are generally pretty high for short lengths (1.3 to 1.5m would be fine)

Would be tempting to find someone to split with given that 3m is often not that much more than 1.5m it seems

We've had a few of these through affiliations. Genuinely a solid desk with quality control panels on (electric rise and lower and usb ports). Extremely heavy however, so wherever you are placing it, it's staying there.

I'm a little bit away from setting up a new desk, just took delivery of my HM embody chair so need to make some room before getting a new desk.

I use 2x27" monitors + 1x38" ultra wide monitor. All ok monitor arms clamped to the desk. Room is 220cm wide.

I currently use the IKEA BEKANT
Do you have a specific model you would recommend.
