Probably a silly question, but I have a cheap £150 samsung soundbar and wireless sub combo.. Will this be much better on its own for now?

I returned it. It was super clear but I couldn't justify 400 on top for the sub. Just me of course

Looking for a soundbar/home theatre set up at this price point.. Is this the best solution?

Not if you fancy rears and and big explosions with a sub. To get them puts this system well over £1000. You can get a less expensive make with a sub that beats this for £350 on cinema effects but wont be as good for music. Sonos is expensive like apple because you pay for the ecosystem so unless you are going full house in the future denon might be a better bet.

I have a LG C2, do you think its worth adding this to it?

I’ve got a 55” C2 and bought it with the Sonos Beam G2 and sub-mini at the same time and it’s a great set-up overall. Definitely better sound than the Orbitsound soundbar and sub I had before..

I'm surprised these are getting heat at 350. They've got to 275 at least a couple times within the past year. Appreciate no one can snap their fingers and make this deal £75 cheaper but that's enough of a saving that I'd be patient for the next round of it.

Been waiting for this to drop again since the Christmas offers, after the rave reviews as well, finally ordered! Actually prefer the white to the black as well. Thanks OP

Solid price if you're after the white one... same as I paid on black Friday last year. Heat added

I was close to falling down the Sonos wormhole. Luckily post Christmas there didn’t seem to be any offers or deals anywhere and I was eventually tempted by a Samsung cash back deal.

I’m really happy with the what I’ve got but if money were no object then the Beam seems like a great product.

Even if it is a gateway drug into the Sonos ecosystem. (edited)

I've been trying to decide between this or a Bose 600. The price makes this very tempting!

Gone for a black one for £379 at John Lewis with MYSAVE20 code. I think I'd find the white one too distracting.

Bit the bullet in the end more due to the cost and colour as will see if it’s a decent upgrade on the gen 1 and white matches the bedroom better

Standard Currys. Says in store for collection. Pay. Set off. Cancel it as get there. Grabbed a roam anyway so saved me some cash.

I received this sound bar yesterday and set it up including the tuning. We watched a Dolby Atmos movie and I played some music through tidal on it. If I'm honest this sound bar is over hyped and not worth £100. Our LG B1 Tv speakers are much better. The Voice clarity of this sound bar is muffled and very difficult to hear spoken words even with the bass turned down. The sound stage is only good for Tiny bedroom but this speaker is not worth spending that amount of money on. I am sending it back. (edited)

That’s why you get an Arc for the living room and a Beam for the bedroom, just putting it out there

Is dobe Atmos worth upgrading from the generation one beam?

If you don’t have rears yet, that should be your next best step. It’ll be a more noticeable improvement upgrading to gen 2. Id go rears, gen 2 or arc and then a sub

    Damn.
I've got a gen 1 and 2 rears and I'm tempted but I'm moving "soon" so I really don't want the extra faff (and dealing with the old one).

Gen one is fine unless you want Dolby . I upgraded then had remorse that it was for nothing … sent back

    This better than the Playbar?
    cantonbean's avatar
    cantonbean
I'd say no on pure sound owning the beam gen1 and a playbar due to the amount of drivers and my own ears. I do miss the airplay integration and voice assistant on playbar. However as this beam gen 2 doesn't have upwards firing speakers I wouldn't swap gen1 or playbar/playbase for this model. HDMI eARC might be an advantage for some people as well.

Missed the Christmas sale prices and been waiting for another sale since. Got fed up waiting and went for a refurbished play bar for £250, in my opinion a good move, the play bar is above my expectations. Very happy.

Yeah I got one refurbished too and have the beam gen 1. Really the arc is the new playbar. When they do a gen 3 of this with the upwards firing speakers of the arc/era 300 I'll swap over but not worth it for now.

Sonos speakers and soundboard are proper HIFI quality, However they don’t support Dolby DTS and most Blu-rays for some reason use DTS for their English soundtracks but Dolby Digital for other languages and Descriptive English English so unless you have a Blu-ray player that converts DTS to Dolby Digital you only get PCM stereo sound which sounds pants

This gen2 beam will support dolby atmos and standard DTS 5.1.

Think with Dolby atmos sounds so
Much louder and crisp on my arc over 5.1. Especially 4K Blu-rays.

Bought this from Very with a 20% discount code at the same price as this. Compared to the Samsung sound at and sun it replaced,‘it’s significantly better and I think, assuming you don’t have a cavernous room (ie you’re just abnormal person in a normal 3 bed semi or smaller), this is great.

You reckon there will be deals on the Sonos Ones now? I got the Beam 2 and Mini Sub. It’s a great set up for a medium sized living room but I want to add surround.
