The puncture repair for all size wheelsReviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 June 2023
Style Name: 237 mL (8oz) bottle
This maybe the smallest bottle but I only used half in my wheel barrow tube. I then pumped it up with the cars electric pump. I then found that the car had a bottle of an equivalent product for punctures on the car. No spare wheel any more and if Honda use it on their range that's enough for me to give this product 5 * !

My friend complained that he had an embarrassing puncture and didn’t want to talk about it.
Apparently he was riding good and hard when it developed a picture, and was a really let down.
He filled it up with this product, that I gave him, and now he can go on more night rides. An ideal present for a friend.

It works!

Having been stranded on a new rear hub motor electric bike miles from home with a flat back tyre, I needed to try and stop a similar situation from happening again. With the rear hub motor, rear wheel removal is a pain in the backside and prevention seemed to be a better option than a cure.

A large well known car parts and cycling store fixed the puncture for me and were asked to fill the tres with Slime at the same time, but when I picked up the bike, I was told it wasn’t possible to Slime the tyres as they are fitted with a Presta valve rather that Schrader valves. Presta valves do not have a removable core so you can’t just squeeze the Slime in. They do not sell 20” inner tubes pre-filled with Slime either so that wasn’t an option.

Having done a bit of research online, I found several ways to get Slime into Presta valves tubes, but all of them required removal of the wheels to take the inner tube out before dropping the valve core into the inner tube and not letting go of it while injecting the Slime, then trying to get the core back from the inside, all done completely blind. Then I stumbled across a video of a guy who did it the easy way! Buy a 2oz flavour injecting syringe (available on Amazon), fill it with Slime, puncture the tube with the needle and then inject the Slime straight in. He claimed that the Slime on its own would seal the hole you’d just made, but a belt and braces job would be to apply a patch over the top.

I bought the Slime (enough to do two pairs of tyres), the syringe and some patches and gave it a go. Both inner tubes could be accessed sufficiently easily without removing the wheels and after letting out most of the air and inserting the needle, I was able to inject the Slime went in without any issues. When I pulled the needle out, the hole was tiny and a bead of Slime had sealed it on its own. Once done, I span the tyres to evenly distribute the Slime and then inflated them to 50psi. Three days later, a check showed no pressure loss at all and I’m happy that the Slime is doing its job. I’m going to do the wife’s bike too, but I’ll try a supplementary patch too, just for peace of mind, but I’m sure it’s not strictly necessary.

Every product I review is one I have purchased myself.

The link takes you to the 237ml (8oz) bottle but the 473ml (16oz) bottle is the same price - and hence obviously a way better deal! Thanks OP.

Do you use this once you have a puncture or do you put it in the tyres to prevent one? (edited)

Put it in to prevent them. It won't help you after you get one

Isn't this stuff just a temporary fix and don't you have to eventually have to replace inner tube because slime goes off

Remove tube from wheel/tyre and get Slime ready to inject, if your doing this alone you'll only have 1 free hand. Remove locknut from vavle, small pliers may be needed for this. Once locknut off carefully push valve into tube and hold with free hand, if you let valve go you'll need to buy new tube. Inject Slime then carefully replace valve, replace locknut. Fiddly but worth it.

There's alternatives to this slime sealant.

I am not convinced they are worth it unless you have old tyres that you want to run into the ground. This stuff needs topping up, it blends out of the valves making them gunk up.

For road bikes I'd consider armoured tyres like Marathons from Schwalbe:

    schwalbetires.com/bike-tires/tour-city-tires/

I've got a hybrid bike and I got sick and tired of punctures on my commute to work. My tyres aren't tubeless.

So I opted for tyre armour protectors, you can find plenty here as an example:

    bikeradar.com/advice/buyers-guides/best-tubeless-tyre-inserts/

(These are for mountain bikes that are tubeless. I'm currently abroad and so can't be bothered searching extra for UK pages about tubed armour inserts - this just gives you an idea)

My personal favourite for my tubed tyres and great buy has been rhinodillos from the US. I bought them from Amazon US, paid no import fees and punctures have been a thing of the past!

any idea if this works in footballs. I have a couple of footballs that leak and go flat after a couple of days. would this work?

It would cause the balls to be heavier and roll weird when the slime pools. In a spinning tyre it distributes evenly but in a ball it wouldn't be even.

Thanks, paid £10 for the small one in Halfords, don't regret it though, was getting punctures all the time, this has been great, still had two slow leaks, but the green slime was showing on tyre so caught it before getting stuck out with a flat.

Ordered earlier and just got it delivered, expiry date is January 2027, so good life.

It's a bit messy to get the stuff into the inner tube, but when it works it will save a definite puncture. It's got me home many times when I would have needed a roadside fix.

Better off with going full tubeless if your tyres can do it. Most bike rims come pretaped so all you need is a valve and sealant.

Deal has already been posted and expired, because the 16oz bottle is twice as big for the same price.
Deal for the 16oz bottle here

Here's the expired deal for the 8oz bottle, which makes this a duplicate deal.
