can you switch your current Smarty plan to
    this?
    insideman's avatar
Yep. Just did it via chat.
  2. nigelwill's avatar
I switched to Smarty last month at the end of my Vodafone contract. Works OK around London. but coverage in South Wales was really patchy, and practically non-existent around Tenby.
    emptypocketz's avatar
Yup poor 4g speeds in london myself, popped in my old giff gaff and hit 19Mbps while smarty was barely 3Mbps.

I don't think three network is good for my area of London but who knows.

Will the price change from £8 to £15 after a certain period?

    12 month's

I've been waiting for this deal to come back, thanks!

How long can we wait to activate the sim? My deal expires in about a month.
    Mackem-in-boro's avatar
Get the SIM and 12 month's deal start's ticking down, so activate SIM in a month and you have 11 month's left of the deal.

Got this deal first time around. In an area of 15 miles around my home, I get speeds as low as 2Mbps and 70Mbps. Very inconsistent coverage in West Hertfordshire.
  6. Timmylad1975's avatar
Been on Smarty for a few months now. Like most networks it has areas of good coverage and areas of "Patchy" coverage. At home i get 4g+ at about 4mbps but at work about 3 miles away i get 5g at over 1000mbps. I used in Crete last week and had excellent coverage. For £8 a month its a great deal
  7. Mackem-in-boro's avatar
Great deal, got it last month, but coverage at my caravan area where i need it most is rubbish even though the 4g coverage states great on the map. Wish I stayed with Vodafone, no problem at all with them.
    UsnaviHamilton's avatar
Then just get a new Vodafone deal smarty is only 1 month contracts so can switch back easily

Coming up at £15 not £8 when I click the link?

Click on the link further down within the postings.

Switched from lebara to smarty, massive speed improvement for me.
5G areas are very fast, 4G is ok, below that you’re using pigeons however.

50275082-48AQS.jpgGot even better speeds in Cheshire area
  12. Monkeynuts33's avatar
Switched to this yesterday from lebara...The speeds are shockingly slow
    KamalinO's avatar
It all depends on your area's coverage. I made the opposite, moved from Lebara to Smarty and noticed a huge speed improvement, it seems I'm close to a 5G antenna so I get over 800mbps in my area while I barely got 50 with Lebara and Vodafone.
  13. Conkers816's avatar
I'm on their Unlimited Everything for £12 deal and once I let go of the idea that I had to have 4 solid bars of 5G all the time, it's been fine.

Signal isn't great in my area but I can stream Spotify, YT Music and Tidal without any major issues so I'm quite happy.
  14. khy86's avatar
Good deals but poor speeds. 4bars 4g signal and barely even 10gb. Keeps cutting out too.
  15. D3llf4n's avatar
Does anyone know if Quidco cashback is possible on this deal please.
    hantshog's avatar
I don't think so as it's an affiliate deal so it's not on the Smarty website. It only appears via the MSE link.

    No emergency alerts with them

Just got the 100GB deal to replace my rubbish O2 50GB but this would have been sufficient. Going to move wife and kids across to this for 5 times data at same overall price.

I was on Three several years ago and speed was decent and better than anyone else. Went to Scunthorpe and got 5G for first time and a stonking 607mbps! (edited)

Good deal. I got a very similar deal when it came up 2-3 months ago. I’m happy with Smarty and the 3 network. Where I live in the countryside most of the networks have poor signal coverage anyway. I might prefer Giffgaff, who I used to be with , but they don’t provide wifi-calling (Smarty do) which is the only way to deal with poor coverage at home (edited)

I was on £8 for 12gig double to 24 for a year. I have got them to swap my £8 for the 50gb offer
  20. sideways126's avatar
Just ordered thanks. Moving from lebara. I find their data patchy. Lets see if smarty any better. Lyca was also hit and miss in my area
  21. insideman's avatar
Thanks OP. This is a great deal
  22. NIgelK's avatar
Would move to Smarty in an instant if they had signal here. Cracking deals

This is showing at £15 per month for me :-(

Try the links others have shared whilst being mad.

As Plusnet is closing sometime soon not sure whether to switch now or to wait and see what they offer on EE as that’s the better network coverage wise, might just hang on for a bit
    Decoded's avatar
I was with Plusnet and they migrated me to EE for £8 a month with 5gb data and unlimited calls/texts. It's not a bad price as it would normally be £22 a month for a 1 month plan. (edited)
  25. Eldi's avatar
Only bad thing for me, terrible signal where I live and tend to visit.

    Cost is pretty reflective.
  26. gdwelsh's avatar
Just got the same deal on chat. Cheers

I managed to get this deal previously and ive generally been happy with Smarty since i switched around 8 months ago (have changed price plans 3 times in that time). I do get areas where data is poor but then i also got that with EE and i was paying more. Get to try them abroad shortly so i'll see how that goes.
  28. ILikeyThemHot's avatar
Got it swapped via chat. Thanks OP 🏽
  29. Caveman2014's avatar
Swapped via chat ( I think) had to say I was going to put a complaint in
  30. big_boge's avatar
swapped via chat - said I was thinking about leaving.
  31. kfk881's avatar
Joined this deal 3 months ago, pretty happy with the signal (Gloucester) 500-670mb data speed 5g
  32. morgster93's avatar
Thanks OP! Just upgraded to this from my current £7 for 12GB - which is usually enough but have gone over a couple times.
  33. tux1982's avatar
    Can you roam?
  34. DH1201's avatar
Does anyone know ife idmobile throttle the speed
  35. Lloydinio's avatar
Can I get this if I’m already on smarty.

    I’m on £10 for 60gb
    emptypocketz's avatar
Someone said at top try live chat with them, they managed to switch and was on another smarty plan.
  36. deVereForster's avatar
Thanks for sharing the link to the promotion. Bought one just now … cracking deal especially when it gives you 12Gb roaming
  37. jase_burton's avatar
I asked for this deal last time, Currently on the £10 for 60gb which i dont need this much data so £8 for 50gb is better, I asked on chat which i was told it would be changed at the end of the month, This didnt happen and when i queried it they said prove it! I was so mad, So i have asked them again!

I've had this deal for a while now... But be warned... I live in Manchester and when I was with ee, 5g was great and really good coverage. Having been with smarty for a couple of months now, I've not seen any 5g coverage. Only 4g and it's quite slow and non existent in some places and this is Manchester!
