Details

With a sustainable canvas upper, with yarns made from recycled ocean plastic, the Five Ten Freerider Pro Canvas Cycle Shoes are both kinder for the environment and tough enough for all your mountain biking adventures.

If you’re a flat pedal fan, it doesn’t get much better for reassuring mountain bike performance than with the Freerider Pro Canvas Cycle Shoes. From the roughest of downhill chutes to whipping tabletops to sweet flowing singletrack, they keep you feeling confidently planted on the pedals.

The key to their flat pedal grip is the combination of legendary Marathon rubber outsole and classic Dotty™ tread pattern. Together they keep you firmly planted on flat pedals with an unshakeable and confidence-inspiring grip. This level of traction allows you to commit to the toughest of trails and pick out the fastest lines with laser-sharp focus.

While the outsole keeps you locked down, the synthetic Primeblue canvas upper is both comfortable and tough, keeping your feet happy for a day on the hill. An impact-resistant toe-box laughs in the face of rock and root strikes while the compression moulded EVA midsole gets the balance of shock absorption and stiffness just right. The result is enhanced comfort and pedal feel. Should the weather turn wet the tough outer is water-resistant and quick-drying so you can continue to enjoy the ride day in, day out.

Whether it’s muddy and wet or dry and dusty, the Freerider Pros give unwavering grip, perfect cushioning and burly durability to last the long-haul, inspiring you to push your riding limits further and faster every time you ride.

Primeblue Sustainability

Tackling plastic waste is a vitally important environmental issue and since 2012 adidas have been pushing to remove the use of virgin plastics in sportswear. adidas Primeblue is the result; a high-performance material derived in part from Parley Ocean Plastic - upcycled plastics intercepted on beaches, coastal communities and shorelines, removing pollution from our oceans.

Has anyone got any thoughts on sizing for these? I'm normally a 9 UK, buy 10 for hiking shoes and boots

I'm Normally a 7, but with these, and in fact any shoes under the Addidas umbrella I always get an 8.
I have a pair of these which I wear occasionally, but my preferred shoes for general trail riding are a pair of Addidas Terrex swift R2 GTX. They're surprisingly grippy on my DMR pedals, don't have laces to contend with, are waterproof (goretex), and are much better suited for any sections where you may have to "hike a bike"

What are these like for walking? I don't cycle, but this looks awesome.

Soles are a bit stiff, they're fine for casual walking but I'd avoid for hiking. Five Ten Trailcross would be better for that.

Aside from protection clothing. These are such good buys. You stick to the pins on any half decent pedals like $h!£ stuck to a blanket. Plus they have a reinforced toe which can really avoid some nasty temporary injuries

Give ten has been rubbish since they were sold to adidas and manufacture moved to china. Quality is really poor!

Depends on what sort of riding you want to do. The five tens will have a grippier sole, more impact resistance, more durability etc.
If it's just for commuting then whatever is more comfortable/cheaper
