Update 2
22/06: Price dropped to £212.13

Claim £75 Cashback from Samsung here

Use the serial number on the actual SSD (not on the packaging) when submitting the cashback otherwise it won't accept the serial number.

Note: The 4TB model of the Crucial MX500 is a lot worse compared to the lower capacities which makes the 4TB Samsung 870 EVO a much better option. The 4TB 870 EVO has 2.4x higher TBW and 8x more Dram Cache compared to the 4TB MX500:

  • 4TB Samsung 870 EVO - 2400 TBW and 4096MB LPDDR4 Dram Cache
  • 4TB Crucial MX500 - 1000 TBW and 512MB DDR3 Dram Cache

For anyone that is worried, you will be eligible for Cashback despite it saying "Sold by Amazon EU S.à r.l." Amazon EU S.à r.l. is Amazon's UK branch:

find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/FC032354

The invoice you will need to submit will state "Sold by Amazon EU S.à r.l., UK Branch"

Also, people have had their cashbacks come through from previous Samsung cashback promotions when purchasing through Amazon despite it saying "Sold by Amazon EU S.à r.l."

  • Interface: achieves the maximum SATA limit of 560/530 MB/s sequential speeds
  • Intelligent Turbo Write: accelerates write speed and maintains long-term high performance

All revisions of the 2TB MX500 have a 2GB Dram Cache (except 1 revision which has a 512MB Dram Cache). The 2TB model does not have a 8GB Dram Cache. (edited)

I've just warranty replaced one of these drives. As mentioned died without warning. Prevented system boot and would bring a system to a crawl if USB plugged in! That said the whole RMA process took only a week (which was shipping to and from the Netherlands). Data recovery is explicitly not part of the warrenty and they advice contacting a recovery company if you want that (fortunately was just a games drive).

That said as radical mentioned very unlikely to get an older batch one. The replacement I got which is new in box was dated late last year as production date. It's a shame, as while it was working this was a brilliant drive in the PC it was in!

Not sure if it helps anyone, but ordered this yesterday. Arrived today. Took a screenshot of the Amazon invoice on my phone, took a photo of the back of the ssd showing the SN. Filled in the online claim form and attached photos. Within 20 mins I had an email back from Samsung that my claim was successful and I would be receiving £75 back into my bank account

How's the cashback offer work? Just fill in the form on the site and wait for money or is it an instant rebate?

Samsung Prodiuct via Amazon are not elgiable, as none of them ship from a UK store...but from a EU one, which is exlcuded in the cashback offers. I bought a few items the last time they did this and none of them where eligable from Amazon.

Love these Samsung cashback offers. I can confirm from previous orders that Amazon EU S.à r.l. is UK and works for the cashback so nothing to worry about (this should be put in capital letters in all of these Samsung cashback deals to avoid confusion!).

Last time my cashback took longer than they said but Samsung emailed me to let me know about the delay. It took around 40 days for cashback to be paid in the end.

two questions - the link provided to amazon on this deal qualifies right for cashback by samsung
also - how does this drive compare to this - Portable SSD T7 Shield USB 3.2 Gen 2 4TB

and finally what caddy case do you need to use this drive i need it for my m1 or my normal macbook using usb or usbc - thanks in advanced
    italkapple's avatar
    italkapple
Yes the link qualifies for cash back.

T7 is slightly faster compared to this.

you’ll need 2.5” enclosure. Any will do if you decide to buy this drive, it will be down to how much you want to spend on, brand, quality of parts and controller in the enclosure. Ensure to buy a USB3 / Type C enclosure or you’ll have to use a dongle to connect it to your M1.

format as exFAT to use with M1 and you’re set.

yeah i got the same, i think they use an automated system so it needs to be super clear - i just sent the exact same screenshot in again but this time it will be reviewed by a human rather than a robot... i think thats why some people noticed they got the cashback super fast people it was never verified by a person

50409235-tii9g.jpgjust confirming I brought this via samsung.com/uk/…ore staff discount. Took a while for my claim to be processed as I initially sent them a image of the serial on the box. A week later was asked to send them a serial on the actual product itself, initially a little hesitant as I wasnt sure about my refund rights after. I sent them a photo of the serial on the product. week later no response. Just got off the phone and the lovely lady (a very possitively cheery one at that) confirmed my claim has been accepted and has followed up with a email confirming so. all good ymmv (edited)

    Forgot about the cashback.

Insanely good value for under £150!

Great for apps, games, even your OS thanks to the DRAM.

If I hadn't already loaded my Transcend up I'd consider returning and getting this...
It's just used for my film/TV series to take around with me. It's only £16 difference, so at least it won't keep me up at night . (edited)

They can’t refuse the cash back if it’s advertised on their site. That would be misleading advertising. I’ll be getting a £75 refund from Amazon if it doesn’t include this purchase.
