Have it up against a window , just make sure you have a street light. Mine was out for a week so camera switched to night mode an was absolutely useless.

You can force day/night mode via the app (day mode will disable IR night vision etc).
Click on your cam, and then the AUTO button in the top right.

I was thinking about placing this to look out of a window to see the front door - any experience of quality? I know the IR won't work due to reflection, but figured outside lights and street lights would be ok.
nocturnal86
We have done this to keep an eye out on our front door. The only thing to watch out for is reflections from the window. We have an outside light switched on when it's dark, so we don't have to use the night mode which isn't too great imo.

Any (good) experience using this as baby monitor?
Nadia50
I use this as a baby monitor and it much more reliable than my actual baby monitor that has long since stopped working. Any movements are detected and an alert sent to my phone/tablet straightaway. I usually just have the display on my ipad so I can continuously watch and look in. I'm very impressed with these cameras and so far they haven't let me down. I've been using it as a baby monitor for over a year now.

Do these 'have' to use the Tapo app and/or Alexa? After something like it, but direct IP connection. Or, if anyone has suggestions...
My current camera stopped working since i have changed Broadband and i got not want to switch to 2.4 ghz just for the camera to work. (edited)

2.4ghz only I'm afraid

This was £19.99 in April. Its a good camera and very responsive
valueadd101
That was the FHD one, this is the 2k version.

To be fair it's been this price for a while, but is a great no frills camera. Has ONVIF/RTSP support so perfect to integrate into an existing NVR system - a perfect replacement for those cheap fang/wyze/neos cameras from a while back.
The form factor makes it tricky to press against a window pane so you may get reflections but with a bit of fiddling you can get past that.
Oh and the PTZ version of the same resolution is 22.50 with voucher ATM. This one would be better against a window though.

Is it actually 2k quality enough? I have a eufy camera but it only does 2k quality of motion triggers, not on continuous footage
And what's it like playing live on fire stick if it can? (edited)
MrChrisOnline
Do you mean if you're watching it live? It's probably compressed a lot then, with the recordings being full quality
SJ01
Damn app doesn't even install
valueadd101
Got two of these from TP Link a while ago when Amazon was selling it at £29.99, the FHD was at £19.99.
Great little cameras, one inside our vivarium, the other on the outside. Keep an eye on our little fella whilst he’s roaming round making sure he’s not up to any mischief. One recommendation - disable the auto firmware update, it failed an update whilst we were on holiday and meant we were ‘blind’ until we got home and could reset the camera. Otherwise great price of kit. Heat OP!

Highly recommended to get this, rotates 360, 2k and its 3 quid more. I have both.
