Don't do it, hard to construct, pretty flimsy and leak like a sieve.

    •Is it hard to construct?
Yes if you don't follow instructions properly and have no right tools.
    •Is it pretty flimsy?
Yes if you don't construct properly.
•Does it leak like a sieve?
Yes if you haven't done those two above.

The leaks are probably condensation rather than poor construction. It's not great design for uk weather.

Probably why wood is often used. There are plastic or composite versions.

Wood needs maintenance but will last if carried out.

Absolutely the case, the base doesn't seal to the ground so rain seeps in and gets trapped in a cycle of condensation.

I am totally rubbish at DIY but I put up a Keter shed - it was straightforward and easy.

I wouldn't consider a metal or wood due to either the build phase or ongoing maintenance.

    Plastic sheds all the way.

There are a lot of comments recommending not using metal, but to go for plastic?
Plastic over time is destroyed by UV from sunlight.
We had a plastic Storage box which became brittle and crumbled after only 3 years use.
At least you can paint steel sheeting.

From what I have seen and heard the plastic sheds (the proper ones) are a much better build. I too have had storage boxes fail...but been more like 5-8 years. These new sheds I have seen last decades. We have a metal shed and yes condensation but also the doors fail after a while... The other thing is also the time to build them. Metal sheds are pain in the ass, but they are also considerably cheaper

Have had one since 2010… can state 100% no rust; and survived all storms without incident.

    No issues with leaks either.

Must have a unique one going by all the leas than positive comments… maybe newer ones aren’t as good?

It is a pain to build, need two people ideally and yes 100’s of screws. Instructions are decent enough… if you struggle with Ikea furniture … forget it:)

As with most sheds gets very hot in summer and will generate condensation but not had any problems with normal garden tools being stored. (edited)

These are terrible even when following instructions, 10 million screws and you will cut your hands to bits 👐

Looking to buy one to store tools and garden equipment. Are these really that bad with condensation/damp and build quaility?
    pat123's avatar
    pat123
Oh yes, they will ruin your tools with the damp and leaky roofs and walls, slice your fingers as you attempt to align the flimsy metal panels and drive you mad with all the screws. Add in crap instructions, holes that do not line up and its guaranteed that there will be missing parts (which take ages to come if they believe you that is).

Apart from that they are brilliant!

Wait out for the deals on plastic ones, I bought the Lifetime shed from Amazon when it was on offer. It is superb.

Plastic Lifetime Sheds come up on Amazon every now and then. They are superb. Please do not buy metal, the reviews are absolutely spot on.

Wooden sheds can be just as much of a problem.
Bought a 10ft x 12ft BillyOh shed - quality was atrocious. Their instructions specified what defects were acceptable, or not - according to that, the whole thing should've been rejected.
A week after we'd put it up (absolutely straight, square & weatherproof), the contents went mouldy & boxes turned to mush. Had to buy a dehumidifier, running 24/7 just to stop the damp from rotting everything.

This company supply’s very poor quantity products, our shed is unable due to the many leaks. The is due to the quantity products

These rust like crazy after a year or so.
And come with around a thousand bolts (edited)

The instructions are not clear. I spent a lot of time undoing parts that I assembled 'wrong way round' because the instructions weren’t clear. Also be prepared with a few more nuts, bolts and screws where some panels don’t sit down properly. In all, not a terrible shed, just not great !!

Bought one & put it up with my old man last weekend. Very fiddly and time consuming, but not technically difficult. Also, I see a lot of people are moaning about the holes not matching up and being poor quality, but I disagree. I was pleasantly surprised by how well it joined together Don't get me wrong, there needed a bit of wiggling and slight adjustments, but certainly nothing too difficult. When all put together and braced, it feels sturdy enough for my needs but time will tell in regards to the rusting. But considering the price, I think it's quite a nice little shed.
