Amazing camera but the Pixels have really lost their way. I wouldn't have bought my 6 Pro had I realised how far the brand had fallen. (But the camera is incredible).

As in they removed all the bloatware that "many" people wants and loved?

Are you tied into the contract or can you buy the phone then terminate the contract?

The latter. It's just a 30 day plan. I did the same with a Pixel 7 recently and was able to port the new O2 number out to a spare payg sim, thereby cancelling the £9pm plan and avoiding dealing with customer service.

Not sure I would agree on losing their way, Pixel phone are now pitched at the mid-range and budget level rather than flagship £1,000 plus. You get a bloat free experience and the 7 and Pro have been pretty much universally praised as being the best phone of 2022.

I still have my 6 Pro, considered upgrading to 7 Pro if the right deal comes along, but I will probably now wait till the 8 in October.

It's interesting how 'universally praised' has translated into 'heavily discounted' very early into their release. Clearly people are voting with their wallets.

Price has dropped to £637 plus £9pm 30 day rolling contract (14 day cancellation).
I ordered but cancelled as O2 missed click and collect date.

Code NCIPHONE14 seems to be working for this so can get £50 off bringing the phone cost down to £587
