Ridley Scott directs this drama starring Joaquin Phoenix and Russell Crowe. After the death of Emperor Marcus Aurelius (Richard Harris), Commodus (Phoenix) betrays the Emperor's beloved General Maximus (Crowe) and takes the throne for himself. Maximus is sold as a slave and then trained as a gladiator, keeping himself strong with thoughts of revenge. Eventually he is taken to the Colosseum, where he prepares to fight in a contest presided over by the corrupt Commodus. sorted byI always want more sequels from a great movie. Even if it's rotten, it wouldn't ruin the original movie for me. You never know it might good.
I'm not looking forward crowe's return as maximus on the basis of how awful he was in the last Thor movie.
He should've hung up his sandals long ago
