Seems like a good price for 12,000BTU?

Tempted with it because I NEED to get good sleep, I drive HGVs on nights and need to sleep during the day. Only issue I have is I have those annoying windows that have a small opening at the top (awning window?)

I cut a piece of mdf to the size of my window hole and cut a hole in that for the pipe, works well!

Got one around 3 years ago, does the job well, not the prettiest model, but functional. Was a lifesaver last year when it was over 40c. Got mine for £275.
Comes with remote, pipe and nozzle thing for pipe end which goes out the window. (edited)

this any better than the TCL 9000 BTU deal i ordered? I'm not fussed on BTU i just dont want the thing imploding after 1 hours use.

Very low quality units. Aim for a rebranded midea if you want quality for cheap, usually recognisable by upwards facing air outlet

This is a good shout actually, thank you. I've found a rebrand of the 12k Midea, it's a £150 premium over this, but their ACs do seem to be of a decent quality.

Shouldn't this deal be freezing cold? :/

i have a lower btu of this bought last year and fan speed is too high needs another lower setting as its too loud, also recently got the wilco Homcom air con wilko deal and that is also the same 2 fan speed settings and too loud, my other aircon unit which is probably 7 years old has 3 speed settings and is far better on noise level, also i had an airforce bq unit which i sold also had 3 settings and was also better.

When it arrives I'll do a little video after setting it up.

I'm alright with it being noisy since I sleep with earplugs in, and tend to use headphones on the TV/PC/Console so as not to annoy the neighbours. But I can see how it'd bother people.

Poor build quality and with mine the AC function stopped working just after the warranty expired

Well it's been good these last couple of nights.

Not as freezing as expected, then again the lowest is 16c, maybe my expectations were too high?

But certainly allowed me to sleep well. had it switch off after 4 hours and was woken up by the room getting a bit stuffy at around 7 hours. Still need to make a proper DIY window seal out of wood or something, that'll help.

The extension hose came, but didn't know you need a coupler. So it's currently duct taped up. Once that's here I might wrap the hose in something to try and further insulate from room from the heat.

Quentin_bc on eBay does custom sized polycarbonate window seals - search "Window seal kit for portable air conditioner or tumble dryer"

Picked up the 14K BTU version the other week and very pleased far more powerful than my old 12K BTU unit from Wickes and some how massively quieter than the old one
    harry_green27's avatar
do you have a link to the 14K one?

Be aware I've used this for past year or two and it's ultra loud even on just fan mode on low. But it does work.

Can this be used efeicently without the hose (We have double glazing)

No, the hose is where it pumps out hot air. You an buy window seal kits.
