Popular headphones, I'm not a huge fan of them for music but enjoy mine for gaming and movies. Great comfort and build quality for the price.

    does it have mic?

Get a VModa Boom Pro mic and you are sorted.

Get a vmoda boom pro mic for these and they're a great set of gaming headphones

Do you find your mic will humm to others on discord?

Oh nice. Paid £125 for mine and worth every penny. Use it mainly as a gaming headset but it can handle pretty much anything.
    Smm0's avatar
Ouch. Savaged on the price there. Its always worth checking reviews from real people and watching price histories before massively over paying.
  4. poops101's avatar
If you compare this with hyper X cloud alphas, are these better by a lot of margin?
    ondert's avatar
Pff.. no comparison. HyperX’s not so terrible like many other useless ‘gaming’ headphones, HyperX Cloud 1 & 2 are based on Takstar 80, maybe Alpha too but they’re still quite inferior to this open back Philips
  5. kratos2019's avatar
these or the Sennheiser 599 special editions at the same price on amazon?
    mreriksen's avatar
These are much better in my opinion. Much nicer, warmer sound compared to Sennheiser.

What a deal! Gutted I got mine for £89.99 a few weeks back, just outside of the 30 day return too grrr. Anyone deliberating, don't. Just buy 'em!
    doesitmatter's avatar
chat with customer service and they will create return label for you. tell them u not happy with performance.

Amazon have a deal,. Top up your gift card balance at least £40 and get £5 extra so this worked out to £63.30. Fantastic

Just received them now. interesting I would not say they are superior to my hyperx cloud 2's overall in sound quality when plugged into my xbox series controller.
while the X2HR'S have more bass and a richer sound, the cloud2's seem to have more detail and a bit higher overall volume.
Build quality and comfort seems excellent on the X2HR'S and having the cable being detachable is good because thats the most common thing that breaks with hardwired cans. So coming from HyperX cloud 2s I am pleased but not blown away.

I'd like some headphones/a headset to use primarily for single player gaming on PS5, Series X and Switch. I've just bought the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7x - would these be a better choice instead? Not too bothered about wired/wireless.

    Any feedback gratefully received!
    Bippity's avatar
I would've said get this until you said Switch. From my understanding you need a DAC for it to work simple Apple one, sure, but apparently the switch either likes it and it works or it doesn't and you have to find another which is just complete effort when you just wanna game. Take Switch out of it and I'd say get this and return your Novas and save yourself £70 ish? Especially if single players your thing these will be submersive like the cinemas in 3D you just feel there and that's what you want. Headset wise these again are not it but you can obviously get a mod mic and job done and 10x the audio you would've had, again, effort but this time it's worth it if needed/wanted. Hope I helped.

    Amazing price for these

These are great value. That said, these are open headphones which you should consider.

SUBJECTIVE: They have more comfortable sound in my opinion, its feels softer and clearer.

OBJECTIVE: They are open, so noise around you will be heard and your sound also leaks into the room.
You don't want to use these for porn or online games where players insult your mother or man hood.
  12. Jonwillis's avatar
This is a brilliant price. X2 give my hifiman Xs (£400+) a run for their money.
  13. ukflyboy's avatar
I thought I got a good deal getting these for under £90 seven years ago - this is a crazy price! Love the sound of these, not the boring clinical flat sound of Sennheiser HDs (now ready to get taken down by the audiophiles!).
  14. triffid68's avatar
I've had these in the past. They are infinitely better than any Bluetooth 'Pod' headphones and they are a good value introduction to the better sound quality of wired headsets.
  15. TinyTimmie's avatar
This is a great price for these.

I've splurged a little bit and got the Hifiman Ananda Warehouse Deal for 350. Down from 600!! The edition XS is a prime deal, but for 368, new. But the Ananda is supposedly a better set of headphones.
  16. ondert's avatar
One of the best entry level headphones as audiophile level. With a 9£ apple 3.5mm to usb-c dongle and you’re done
    William82's avatar
Definitely agree that these are a great entry into ‘audiophile’ grade headphones, but personally I’d go with a small portable DAC+AMP to pair with it too
  17. Smm0's avatar
Okay this is the right price
  18. Hotline_Miami's avatar
I paid £89.99 in 2021 when they were on sale for £94.99 and I used a £5 amazon voucher. HOT! I absolutely love them but I'm no audiophile.
  19. Gavinge's avatar
That is a ridiculous price point 🔥🔥🔥
  20. ixeron's avatar
This is an absolute steal at this price. Highly recommended!!
  21. stevej1976's avatar
Bargain, had these for a few years now. Sound is great for the price and they are built like a tank, I can highly recommend these for gaming.
  22. maybefoodforthought's avatar
Good headphones. I prefer the sound of my DT990's overall but they're much easier to drive and so often get used in preference. For £68 they're a mega bargain.
  23. spoon_2000's avatar
Great quality headphones. I find they do need a custom eq though. I use the mainly on a M1 MacBook Pro so maybe that’s the reason.
    ondert's avatar
If it's bass heavy for you, go with Philips SHP9500 or 9600
  24. PC59's avatar
Insane price, puts to shame 99% of wireless headphones when it comes to sound quality
  25. TechFiend's avatar
    What a price! Heat!
  26. timcunningham80's avatar
Just bought, thanks op. Have owned these before, a few times to be fair, each time I have returned mainly as I wanted wireless, but have always regretted letting them go as nothing has come close to them for sound quality with gaming (although this is very subjective I know - but for me, they hit the sweet spot). At this price is was a no brainer, I knew I would regret not getting them as I have never seen the price for them this low. Going to try and sell my Nova Wireless Pro now to justify buying these!
  27. Starrynight's avatar
Do these need a dac or is a normal 3.5mm jack ok?
    joedb's avatar
No DAC is required, at least on PC if your mobo has a decent audio chip, I haven't used them much on other devices, but I don't recall there being any issues via the headphone jack. I do have mine paired with a DAC and it definitely improved the audio.
  28. joedb's avatar
Amazing price, almost tempted to buy a second pair, as mine are starting to show their age after 3/4 years. Each time I get inspiration to look for an upgrade, it's quickly dumbed down in the realisation, i'd be looking to be spending £100's more at least for other headphones with similar quality.

These have a lovely warm spacial sound, yet clear, and for my preference a good focus on the low end which other 'monitoring headphones' do not offer in my experience.

Pair these with a good DAC and V-moda pro boom mic and you have a great all-rounder, used for work calls, music and gaming.
  29. picklejarbaron's avatar
    Amazing price for these.

What a deal! Wish I don't have it already I'd get one instantly. This is a steal!50559033-erFNJ.jpg

Cracking price for these. I bought mine at £120 a few years back and have been very happy with them.
  32. Carlos_Carlitos's avatar
How to they compare to AKG k702 or hd599?
  33. Hunter68's avatar
I picked up a logitech pro x headset for £40, is this much better?

    Yes

best pair of cans i've ever owned, i think. normally i go budget midrange, your soundcore anker tier stuff. these are light years ahead. with these when i'm playing a game like darktide, i can do this:

    imgur.com/Lz8…xPT

(it has sound) where i can cleanly pick out the special spawning even in a chaotic enviroment (the little gas click click click) and then go spawn camp it. i similarly would hear stuff in apex that my squadmates couldn't.

only sort of downside is that as open backed the noise isolation is non-existent, so it's not really much good if you need it in a loud environment, kids or whatever. i can hear people talking to me while it's on but not playing anything eg.
  35. kingLAWZA's avatar
These vs DT 990? Can NEVER get the DT 990 on sale on Amazon. It's impossible.

I tried the HD 599 and weren't for me. Philipps quality in general products has gone down, but how about this?
  36. invizible's avatar
    do they have built mics?
    CoolCab's avatar
no. these are studio headphones marketed like the kinds used for mixing audio. they only do sound and they do it extremely well.
  37. pip1968's avatar
    Are these noise cancelling?
    CoolCab's avatar
absolutely not. they're open back, they do not seal the ear in a cup.
  38. Outlaw.King's avatar
How long is the cable given they are wired and not bluetooth
    CoolCab's avatar
    3m, as i recall

I have a pair of DT 770 pro. Amazing headset but is getting old and starting to show its age. Was considering buying another pair then saw this deal. DT 770 Pro or a pair of these? (edited)
