Probably not worth the extra £300 vs the M1 Mac.

I owned both and would absolutely say the M2 is a better machine. If you’re just looking at the performance then the M2 doesn’t actually result in a much faster laptop, however, the design and appearance of the new M2 far exceeds my expectations. - It is a lovely device. The M1 Air is a fast processor in an old chassis that is dated. Why wouldn’t you just spend the additional and get something which looks like the latest offering from Apple

Does anyone know if this exact model, bought from Costco, has Bluetooth 5.3? It’s really important to me. Conflicting specs/advice out there. Thanks. (edited)

Good price but I think the £779 M1 version on Amazon and £250 saving is a better deal.

Slower than the M1 because of apple gimping the storage speed on the 256GB

But the screen is bigger, and form factor is much improved. I’ve got a M2, have access to M1 too. I prefer to use the M2 due to the design of the machine. Also the screen seems improved, its easier on the eyes.

Love Costco warranty and service for electrical items like this.

I find M1 the better shape, to hold, use, and aesthetics. And price difference should be more like £100-£200, not worth £300 extra for M2 - that’s price of a usb-c Power Delivery 4k monitor.

BUT - The M2 has the better screen, sharper text, easier to read and focus on, plus the little bit extra screen height along with the M2’s pop up menu animation, rather than M1’s pop & slide menu, is preferable - the M1 in this regard grates on me (perhaps a setting can change it).

MagSafe, with an extra port is very nice too.

Alas neither can be told to stop charging at 60/70/80%, without an extra piece of software (will it be safe, outside Apple store) or some Mac Code Pokery. Which means ignoring Apple’s Own Advice to ‘not store at 100%’ if used as a desktop majority of time. Strange they advocate STORING it with mains power at 100% as GOOD, but Storing it at 100% without mains power as BAD - does not compute. Reminds me of their Impossible to follow Ergonomic advice for earlier laptops and keyboards, again looking to do wrong thing and right thing at the same time, and hope their consumers are fooled to believe the one they want to hear. Amazon are only £30 more for those that don't have Costco membership or have one near them.

Having said that, I agree with those that said the M1 Air at Amazon earlier (OOS now) was the better deal as a 39% increase in price is probably not worth the incremental bump.

I think the form factor, magsafe and screen is worth paying the 300 extra for the m2 on offer. although 99% of people won't notice any difference between using the two as it's pretty small.

It's the refresh rate apple need to increase to make the new model a must buy

Great deal. £250 more is worth for this M2 than M1. It will be better for student price + £130 gift card.
