They really should put some example pictures on these type of things.

    Grade C Refurbished
    • A refurbished grade C device features noticeable cosmetic issues. It has passed every functional test, but a refurbished grade C device has significant signs of wear and tear.
    • "Grade C Refurbished" products may have missing, or non-original parts (eg. software, screw covers, rubber feet)
    • "Grade C Refurbished" products are fully operational and function as intended
    • Refurbished products are supplied in plain packaging, not the original manufacturer packaging and do not contain the manufacturers manual / user guide
    • Refurbished VR Items may have major Cosmetic imperfection (including scratches / marks on the lenses that don't interfere with normal use)li>
    • Refurbished Cameras will be factory reset and data wiped and include all listed accessories. Refurbished Cameras are fully operational but will have cosmetic defects present which could be on the display screen.
    • Items listed as "Grade C Refurbished" come with 12 months Currys Clearance warranty

These look like pretty generic terms, as it mentions VR and camera. I was originally concerned by the missing screw covers but that would be a massive red flag for a PS5.

As someone else said, you get 30 days, so perhaps it's worth a go to see if it stays on without getting too hot, etc.

Would rather buy new for how little extra it costs. Before anybody pipes up about ppl maybe can't afford it etc then perhaps shouldn't be looking to buy a ps5 in the first place. Priorities etc.
    Jaymo192's avatar
well I'd let someone scuff or scratch my new ps5 for £100 back into my pocket if it still worked fine
  4. jocksteeluk's avatar
id bet Damaged and repaired probably comes under Grade C also, 12 month warranty is a positive and it is from a proper company being currys, I'd say its worth a punt becaus of the 12 months warranty.
    Terbotom's avatar
Never call Currys a proper company . Outrageous and illegal customer service practices.

That's not a recipe for disaster is it, if the console is so racked off I wouldn't bank on it lasting very long. Different screws and stuff omg what must of happened to these consoles this has to be freezing. Like someone mentioned you are better off buying new as this will be nothing but a pain especially knowing how shocking curry's customer care is.
  6. richardmc85's avatar
Although not in the market for this - its a good deal IMO, assuming only cosmetic issues - you can buy new plates for £20, probably looks decent after that.
    polly69's avatar
If someone has treated a console that cost so much so badly you can assume that it's knackered and refurbished usually means a wipe over and turning it on and if it boots packing it up and selling it. I very much doubt they spent a hour or 2 testing it out to see if it fails, I wouldn't touch this with a barge pole.

It's a luxury item... If you can afford it buy new. If you can't then you probably shouldn't be spending this money on a console that'll be this price brand new in 12 months.

If you can't wait 12 months then crack on, and wait for your next hit.

    Words of WISDOM!

And good medicine from Dr Tree for those addic'ted to buying thoughtlessly.

    Grade C?
I can understand a controller having wear and tear, but the console???
What do the previous owner did? Punched the PS5 when unable to achieve a game level?
    HotRodTrotter's avatar
You'd be amazed how poorly some people treat their belongings.

    Heated

I have the cash to buy new, but always been a bit of a gambler and always after a bargain

Had previously grade B stuff from Currys Clearance and had no issue, always can return within 30 days and comes with a 1 year guarantee.

Worth a punt, not that I will play on it but the kids might like it! Worse case scenario is I use it as a BluRay player
    Nashernater's avatar
That's an expensive Blu Ray player

These are susceptible to overheating if they’ve been around weed smokers, seen a few YouTube cleaning tutorials and it leaves a nasty sticky tar insides and makes them whirl like a jet engine, hence a lot get traded in.

    Jackpot then

All the bois who paid over half a grand crying Got a PS5 refurbished for £300 from musicmagpie a year ago. Has been used weekly and going strong.
    deleted2808586's avatar
If you only use it weekly I'd expect it should last quite a long time

I can always find the extra cash to not buy "C grade".

It's insane what's become of gaming tbh, a few years after release and a dusty grade c refurb priced the same as brand new on release is being praised as a good deal..sad times
    The2Time's avatar
I was with you until you said ''priced the same as brand new on release'' - ? (edited)
  14. Skillfulperson's avatar
I used to work for game and we would often give grade c to customers who were rude or if we just didn't want to do the deal(we were busy and it takes ages to test consoles)

That being said I have seen some disgusting game consoles that look like they've been fished out of a bin. Saw a PS4 with the gap for fan completely full of dust 🤮
  15. kadooosh's avatar
That's over £100 cheaper but for a 'clear signs of wear and tear' console
  16. mcav's avatar
Not this condition at this price from this retailer.
  17. Lkyb's avatar
Wouldn’t touch a used ps5, especially if it’s a launch console. I’m on my second one since first one kept crashing.

Save yourself the headache and buy new.
  18. Tiberiusric's avatar
Grade c for 335? Absolutely not
  19. paul.broom's avatar
I took a gamble on this yesterday, figured it's worth it, with the 12 month Guarantee. It'll be my secondary console, for exclusives only (Have a day one Series X as my main)

Hopefully the only thing wrong with it will be wear and tear but I was planning on swopping over to black plates anyway.

All in all, I think it's worth the punt. Fingers crossed! (edited)

Please let us know the condition when you get it, thinking of getting one myself, cheers

A tricky one : Grade C from a professional refurbisher with a clear concise grading system maybe worth it - but it's from Currys, they would give a blackened fire damaged console a grade A on their eBay store if they felt like it
Also when Currys say 'refurbished' they mean 'rammed it back into box and taped up' , it's not like they actually repair
    kane_th_gaming's avatar
I got a grade b laptop and it was brand new from curry’s…

I both PS3 slim 500gb for 50 quid it was 2 yours ald at the time time haz changed drastically
  23. garyho1220's avatar
I think the kid is playing with the console physically, making it became Grade C!
No way to buy a Grade C console IMO.

£300 in Japan. Should have brought some back for you lot.
    Shak5's avatar
    You should have!
  25. walky332000's avatar
    I got one to try
  26. Anonymous_T's avatar
What do people do to a console to make it grade C?

My xbox one looks new minus the dust on top lol and ive had that since it came out. It just sits there, no danger even from my kids.

Always a bit wary of refurbished items in case they are full of crud . To sully refurnish and clean a PS5 has to take the best part of an hour including basic testing if not more. Either Currys get these dirt cheap or margins might shaved. Would be good to know what Currys state constitutes 'Refurbishment' as there is no formal standard I believe.

    I would hope for:
    * Thoroughly cleaned inside and out.
    * Any damage affecting functionality repaired.
    * Moving parts checked for wear and tear and parts replaced if significantly worn (disc loading rollers, buttons, fans, etc).
    * All external connectors checked for strength and signs of cracking or movement where affixed - both physical and electrical.
    * Having passed a test equivalent to the manufacturer's post-production testing.

Your hoping for a lot for Grade C

I'd buy this and with the extra cash get some plates or dbrand
