I just got this to test EE in my house. All the other networks are rubbish for 3G, 4G and 5G.
    KodaBear's avatar
This is a 'watered down' version of EE signal for now. There's no Band 20/800MHz 4G signal, and no VoLTE either. Additionally, no WiFi calling either.

If you want to truly test EE Signal, you will need to get a SIM from EE Direct, CMLink, 1p Mobile or Popit.

How long; before you have to activate the SIM card to avoid expiry? (edited)

Lyca is 30 days (thanks for those that corrected me as this changed around 21st June).
Apparently Lebara is 30 days as well now.
We switch between the two every six months. (edited)

    Pathetic network alert!
Lyca has become god-awful for me after it moved to the EE. Network black holes, poor internet speed even when out and about and the worst is the dropped calls every 10 mins or so. The call doesn't disconnect, it simply goes blank!
Been with Lyca on O2 for over 10 years. It wasn't amazing but definitely not this bad. (edited)
    Peter221's avatar
Coverage is way worse than EE because Lyca doesn't support band 20
  4. McLovely's avatar
Shame EU roaming is capped at a measly 4GB. Otherwise would have been tempted as EE signal is excellent in my area - though I strongly suspect that Lyca won't have access to the full EE spectrum much like Plusnet didn't (even though Plusnet is owned by BT).
    KodaBear's avatar
Correct, for now at least. This is set to change in future.

For now, if you want EE band 20/800MHz and VoLTE Your only options are EE Direct, CMLink, Popit and 1p Mobile.

I was with lyca for only a week, crap signal in Leeds. Moved to Lebara and it's miles better.

    No more O2 network

    Anyone have any tips?

Bought on a deal on the 4th June. Just tried activating in Norway.

It's not showing any plan on my account, and the emails don't say which it is when I bought!

Would have been either the below deal or a 15GB one.

Any ideas how to get this activated? As my emails don't show what I bought...

    nnj10's avatar
Activation should be while at home not while roaming
  7. Stasiuk's avatar
Has anyone had an issue with Lycamobile and iPhone, that there is no hotspot option anymore? Is there a way to sort it out? I didn't know that Lycamobile plan don't support hotspots
    KodaBear's avatar
You just need to go into the data settings and add the LycaMobile APN to the Personal Hotspot section too then give your phone a quick restart and the option will return.
  8. mightykaboosh's avatar
Received text yesterday telling me my plan is now going up in 5 days to £2.50/ month. I only signed up last month to £1.49 for “6 months”. The app is not fit for purpose & chatbot is useless. All the options lead back to the start as no option allows you to livechat. Email support is 3 days if you’re lucky & the coverage is unlike any ee coverage I’ve had in the past. Poor!
    robertfrancis1975's avatar
So they can get you as a user then increase the prices. Very clever.
  9. JoeUK's avatar
My wife switched to Lyca on her iPhone and it's blazing. After enabling the APN settings "automatically from provider" she's getting well over 300 megs on Speedtest. It puts my O2 to shame. O2 have completely failed me time after time, especially in busy places! I'll be switching over to Lyca as well at this price. I really don't care if they don't use some Mhz band - the experience so far is way better than expected.

Also - the first letter/sim arrived damaged in the post so we did call Customer Services and got through quickly and they were really helpful.
    afn's avatar
Can you post a screenshot of the APN settings as I changed mine manually when Lyca was still using O2.

Any idea how to I activate this particular bundle?
When I brought the sim, it took £1.99 payment and added that as a credit on this new sim.
Not sure how to use it to activate this particular bundle offer.
    KodaBear's avatar
Did you buy it more than a month ago by any chance?

To activate a Lycamobile SIM and bundle you just put it in a phone and switch it on. Within 5 minutes of connecting to the network for the first time you'll get a welcome message to say you're good to go and your bundle is active.

If you have waited over a month to activate though, you'll find the bundle offer has expired, and it's been refunded as cash credit. At which point you'd have to choose a full price bundle instead. Or cancel and order another SIM, remembering to activate it sooner next time.

Worse company I've ever dealt with

I will never ever again use Lyca

    AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE
  12. L22EEW's avatar
Much better signal for me since they now piggyback off EE
  13. uscool's avatar
Now that they use EE I get signal in supermarkets and buildings where I had none with 02 and Vodafone

    200mb odd doing speedtest
    Anon32's avatar
That’s because you’re not connected to 800Mhz band 20. It’s the slow band. Lyca use the higher bands so good signal means faster internet.
  14. mkara's avatar
Been using it a few weeks in London... Think I'll be leaving Lyca as the network isn't the greatest, and at times I don't get any internet despite it saying its EE now. However, my work phone is EE and I'll have no internet with Lyca and full 5G with EE!
    Jon_Red's avatar
That would be because Lyca don’t use 800mhz/Band 20 for 4G. It means signal especially in buildings is worse. I used to be with plusnet who also used the EE network and it was the same. (edited)
  15. uscool's avatar
thought id try the dealfor 45p a month for 6 months, as my phone has dual sims , very impressed now get signal and no issues with internet in supermarkets and buildings I didnt get with 02 and Vodafone
    mutley1's avatar
I got the new Lyca SIM delivered this afternoon and the signal is a lot stronger than when they were on O2.
  16. justanothercid's avatar
Going away, anyone bought this and just used the roaming, is there a restriction on how long the sim is active before it would work in the eu? For £2 it’s worth a punt for a short holiday as the main providers all charge bar o2 and they cost more than this.
    afn's avatar
Each deal has its own terms and conditions. On the order page click terms and conditions at the bottom and it will tell you. Says 4GB EU data roaming cap for this particular deal. Used mine in Lanzarote 3GB for 1p deal but roaming capped at 2.5GB. Data just stopped working when I hit the 2.5GB cap and when I arrived back started working again for the remaining 0.5GB. Saved me £2 a day roaming charges. (edited)
  17. ehsangreat's avatar
Anyone knows if roaming data inc USA? Please, Im trying to look online Google and lyca website but can't find anything, thank you
    KodaBear's avatar
Nope you pay extra to roam there.

Three PAYG is probably your best bet. Otherwise pick up a local SIM when you arrive in the US.
  18. extra_comment's avatar
VERY VERY Poor Service I signed up for a sim only deal over a week ago for esim, one single email saying order received.. then nothing else! No one picks up the phone when tried customer service number. Lebara is much better if roaming is needed but they don't provide esim

I guess HUD shouldn't allow this deal, I'm afraid many will get stuck (edited)
  19. redflash's avatar
Shame they don't accept PayPal as a payment method like Lebara do, if I buy two SIMs for my parents is it possible to use my payment card for both?
    mutley1's avatar
use 2 different email addresses to set up twp different accounts. you should be able to use the same card on both accounts. i do for lebara on 4 accounts
  20. littlehill's avatar
I tried to order one and I’ve been charged twice and been sent two order emails now o don’t know what to do
    mutley1's avatar
I got 2 order emails as well but I only got charged once. Are you sure you got charged twice?
  21. FlyingSquirrel's avatar
Lycra have awful customer service, sim card gpt dropped next door, tried to call lycra to say it good delivered to the wrong place. Cant get through to a person to reorder.

Doesnt matter signal strength if they cant do that basic.
    keefly's avatar
Putting aside the reason for your SIM being delivered to your next door neighbour ... if you know they have it, as you have stated, why don't you just ask them for it?

    And it's LYCA
  22. EdiP4's avatar
I have to say… in my office I can barely get 1-2mbs on my o2 sim. I’ve just added the Lyca esim and I’m getting a whopping 180mbs on 5G. Very impressed.
  23. Zeeshan40's avatar
Lyca to Lebara, Lebara to Lyca and then back to Lebara life goes on and on with PAC codes lol.

50637231-YvywV.jpgStill says runs in o2. You'd think they would have changed that by now
  25. nnj10's avatar
Has the port in process changed after switching to EE.
with lebara switching is simple. With Lyca you have to provide sim serial number for switching and fill up a more difficult form compared to lebara.
    charliecroker1966's avatar
Still same, you just reminded me that I need to do it. Takes a couple of days via the online form, seemingly
  26. Winklexx's avatar
I have this deal for my daughter but got it for 94p few weeks back, have had no real problems even with the EE switch over. If you’re looking for a cheap kids sim deal I’d say this is it.
  27. michaelflowers04's avatar
I'll have to change network now because they have moved to piggybacking off EE. Signal for calls and internet was great, it is now absolutely useless for me. App is pretty useless and so is customer service. Nothing at all going for it in my case, may be different for other people 🤷
    cathal76's avatar
    Same her EE useless
  28. Gohan123's avatar
Trying to port out without speaking to them texting PAC to 65075 dont work coming up with error....with sim in 2 different phones. (edited)
    nnj10's avatar
Try it after rebooting or switching off and on after few minutes.
Can always call them if everything else fails to work. (edited)
  29. Kushdy's avatar
Had enough of this mob, just switched the wife over to EE for £8 per month, 5GB. But I can gift her upto 100GB every month through the EE app.

It's going to cost me a bit more in the long run but I won't have to deal with Lyca, or the wife moaning about Lyca (Hopefully) anymore.
    Mooney70's avatar
But lyca have just switched to EE so the service will have improved for many?
  30. Josu's avatar
Can I sign for this if I already have sim ?
    KodaBear's avatar
Yes. But if you want to keep your number you’d have to port it out elsewhere and bring it back in.
  31. iconcreative's avatar
How do you switch to this if you’re already on a lyca eSim deal?
    phunkee's avatar
    Don't. They are poor.
  32. Sebby75's avatar
Will give it a go in spare phone. Using O2 (work sim) and Lebara (Vodafone)(private sim) at the moment and have some dead spots in couple of places I go to on both of them. Need those free 100 minutes of international calls and free basic roaming due to family overseas. Lebara works out fantastic apart from those dead spots. Hopefully EE has better signal in these locations and Lyca functionality is on par with Lebara.

Ah I think better deal via uswitch if you intend to keep it longer. (edited)
  33. luas1973's avatar
How easy to port number over to them
  34. Sweetz_786's avatar
Terrible customer service and no way to pursue them via ombudsmen either as they aren't a member..
  35. jon.megufti's avatar
Be careful if you don't have 5G coverage where you are, as the 4G LTE speeds are capped to 25mbps during the day. (edited)

  36. AlanR75's avatar
How do you get a nano sim for apple 7 with this company and deal
    KodaBear's avatar
The SIM Cards are all 3 sizes and you just pop out the size you want. It's a mini/micro/nano SIM all in one.
  37. charliecroker1966's avatar
Of the back of another annoying text just received. The only thing that I have had so far is that gets on my nerves, despite requesting stop, I get several texts everyday about joining some topup club. Why would I want to join a topup club scheme if I pay monthly for a bundle
  38. Mooney70's avatar
I might give them a go in the future as they are now on EE. I already have an 02 sim as my second number. But still have lebara and Vodafone sims to activate for the next year.
  39. free_bee's avatar
Will you get Lyca signal at a place where you get only EE ?
    KodaBear's avatar
As long as its not just EE Band 20 only, yes you should do.

You can check the signal here:

    coverage.ee.co.uk/cov…ayg
  40. Buckyball's avatar
Can't get 5G with them in 5G area. However 4G speed is really good.
