Just getting into running , having done my 1st 10k last week, up still now been using bog standard trainers really . What would people suggest as a good first running shoe ?
    Muig1972's avatar
Everyone has their own idea of the ideal shoe, it depends on what fits them best and suits their running gait. I'd suggest trying on a few pairs in a running shop. You'll likely find brands such as Asics, Saucony, Mizuno and Brooks in there.

Do you need Gore-Tex for trail running shoes? What are people's thoughts?
Is it just paying more for something that's not needed?

These Inov8 shoes are a more premium brand, right? But no Gore-Tex on these ones

what I like about these shoes (and why I bought these) I run with my labrador off road, I need these lugs in the mud and rain and the water drains out really quick. Afterwards I hose down the dog and shoes. Get inner sole out, stuff them with newspaper for 2 hours, replace paper and replace paper for another 2 hours. Done. I bought clear news/wrapping paper from Amazon 500 sheets for £25 as I have not found a better way drying the shoes than the old fashion way.

I don't really run, but I enjoy walking trails. Will these shoes be suitable? From pics they appear to have a good sole and adequate grip
    nigrac's avatar
Yes, but, fell runners don't care that these aren't waterproof. As a walker you might.

Colour will make it easier for mountain rescue to find your corpse. Heat

This is why I wear a bright yellow beanie on the mountains.

"Are quite narrow so I've order a size and 1.5 size up."

How does it compare to Asics in terms of size?
    handtoeknee1's avatar
    Author
I've never owned Asics but I bought a 2nd hand paid v1 of these, size 8.5. I'm usually an 8 or 8.5 but have wide feet so I've got the 9.5 just in case.

The v1 had 2 width options but only 1 is available in these so it's difficult to say for sure as I've not owned a v2 pair. Hopefully someone who has these can comment better but only 2.99 return if you have the time to sort it.
  14. ataxic's avatar
yeh, almost bought these, I have the 255s and the fitscale is 4 (toebox size), however these are fitscale 1 and are way to narrow for me....a shame, I thought I got myself a right bargain here. Still hot for those can fit in these

edit, I have tried going a size up before with the speedcross but it doesn't work for me. (edited)

Just ordered went up half a size. Anyone worn them yet?
    AfterAGoodDeal's avatar
I have these and they are my go-to fell shoe. Better than my Mudclaws. They are zero/drop and with little cushioning but this gives you better feel and control, and makes it a fast shoe.

Need to replace some old 200's but I will have to bite the bullet and get the 210's at £140!

Great shoes (I assume, I loved the v1 and understand they are unchanged beyond an even 'stickier' grip) but UK 8.5 no longer available at £45.

Great brand but watch out for sizing. I find them a funny fit going up 1.5 or 2 sizes sometimes
  25. Kell774's avatar
Hey great find on this! thanks for sharing.
  26. frogger77's avatar
Mega! Thanks for the update. Bought a pair that'll fit better. Now to return the others as soon as they arrive

    9.5 back in stock.

The Talon 212 are some of Inov8s best shoes. I’ve got too many pairs of trail shoes so didn’t buy these. Ended up spending £140 on other sale stuff! Nice pair of f-lite 235.
  29. Stebo's avatar
    I'm size 10.5 in nikes. Bought 10.5 & 11 so I'll send back whichever don't fit.
  30. andrew22's avatar
Any dispatch emails yet? Nothing dispatched here so far.
    Cousty's avatar
No not for me and if I click on Track your order in the email then it says you have no current orders. Looks like it's been cancelled to me.
  31. tjhol's avatar
I got mine, but they come up really small compared to my other Inov8's So returning.
  32. Stebo's avatar
I love these. Bought two pairs and ended up keeping the larger and returning the others.
