I have a similar question. I was given a pair on Samsung galaxy buds pro a few years ago as part of a new phone deal. I think they are really good but have moved to the Apple dark side and wondered how much difference there is between mine and the Apple types, including the Pro 2.
It’s no good telling me about frequencies etc, as I just won’t understand it, I just need to know mine are better or the Apple ones are better by some margin. Explain it like you are telling a 3 year old, then I have some hope of making sense of it.
I would appreciate any constructive thoughts. (edited)

Outside the Apple bubble, these would be £20 tops in terms of equivalent performance.

Pro's would be around the £80 mark. (edited)

Brother has these and I got the new AirPod pros 2 when they first came out and all I can say is if you have the extra cash buy the pros 2, from sound to fit everything is miles better, ANC is also a must for me personally. They’re on offer to for £219 down from £250. (edited)

Considering buying as an unexpected present for someone,l.

What's the deal on eBay I've looked and there's literally loads of these (and other versions) advertised as new from sellers with either no or little feedback, all lower price, are these likely to be genuine ?

I know I'm not losing any money if I get sent fakes but what's going on ?
    Haruhi's avatar
Nearly all eBay AirPods are fake if sold by zero or low feedback sellers - probably one of the items that attracts the most amount of fakes and scammers on the platform.

They buy cheap replica Airpods that are £10 then try to sell them as genuine for like £60. (edited)

OK what's the best in ear headphones I can get I go to gym alot and can't have over the head with alot of my workouts as they get in the way so looking for some good base ones currently have jabra 75t but looking to upgrade.
    adzg91's avatar
I’d stick with the Jabras personally. ANC isn’t very good but general noise isolation is very good as standard.

If you have Apple phones etc, then AirPod pros could be a good option. I hated the fit, either not a good seal or falling out, and ended up returning them but the ANC and sound were both very good. Did find the mic struggled in office for calls too which was another deal breaker for me.

Got a pair of Sony WF1000XM4s arriving today to test but the XM5s will be released on Monday which are smaller and have some crucial improvements (pricing TBC). Suspect these will be the best out of everything though.

Short answer, I’ll probably test the XM4s and XM5s next week and if neither are worth the additional cost revert back to my 3 yo 75Ts. (edited)

I’m going to be delivering course remotely to adults I’m considering if wireless ear pieces would be a good idea for delivering these courses. Would these work ok or would I be better with some air pod pros? £220 seems a lot of money for ear phones though!

Depends on your environment. Generally these earphones will pick up a lot of background noise if you're in an office environment which your participants will hear (not an issue in you're in a quite area)

Personally for any remote courses, I'd invest in a headset with a noise cancelling microphone, specifically one that is Teams certified

Whilst these are great, if you can afford a little more get the Pros. They are so good, sit in the ear well with a low profile, noise cancellation and transparency is awesome and the case charges wirelessly too
    Jibz685's avatar
These didn’t fit well on me. I really wanted to keep these. I’m seeing loads of people complaining about the same thing. The AirPods 2nd gen fit great.

Might be a silly question, but can you use one AirPod at a time (eg right ear only) or do they only work in a pair
    James123's avatar
You can use them one at a time

I prefer the pros for comfort but it’s just personal preference. If you find the old style wired headphones comfortable then give these ago.

Yes they are overpriced but one overlooked issue in my experience is connectivity. Initial connection, pausing, switching ears, switching devices etc is never quite as seamless when I’ve tried other headphones with an iPhone and MacBook. (edited)

An ignorant question - how does this compare to Google Pixel Buds A-Series?

“The new AirPods deliver the wireless headphone experience, reimagined”. About time Argos updated the description. A generation 3 has been launched since. Presumably reimagining the experience again

similar performance and style headphones for 30 quid if your not fussed about the apple brand

I would avoid these, better off getting the pros. If you go to the gym or use the underground you’ll barely hear your music with these. Transparency and noise cancellation on the pros are second to none. If you’re looking to use these indoors or if kids then go for it
    Soulwaxuk81's avatar
Agree that these are useless for noisy places. The pros are more than second to lots of other in ear headphones though which perform better.

I got some £20 eBay used ones and apple gave me free 6months Apple Music subscription 2 weeks ago when I registered to my iPhone. I don’t know if this is for anyone but it was a good deal for £20 !

Do these only work with apple phones?
    hat_ok_dear's avatar
Nope. I use mine with Switch and Vita too.

I had a pair of these. They were very loud at first but now I can hardly hear a thing.
