Turn on VPN for India and price should drop to £29.99. Use code keeplearning_cs_li90 for 90% off. Perhaps you can get it cheaper with the local currency but I just paid £3 to avoid to hassle.

If it doesn't work, like the previous deal this gives 90% off so will bring it down to £6.

Remember to cancel the subscription. Code valid until 27th July.

Worked for me, thanks OP. Paid £2.87.
I used Surf Shark free trial for the VPN, and opened the deal link in a Chrome incognito to get the cheaper price.

"Yes, you can use one subscription on as many devices as you'd like. When you download the app to your smartphone or tablet and log in, or when you log in via our website, make sure that you're using the same Blinkist account. Your reading history and library will sync between devices.

You can now invite one other person of your choice to share a spot on your Premium plan. It’s no additional cost to you, and it’s free to the person you invite for as long as you’re sharing it with them."

Never used is the book collection decent? Are they just a range of self help books?

I signed up after the last deal a couple of days ago. A lot of it is self help books, there are also a lot of classics and older literature. Don't sign up expecting the latest Stephen King novels etc (edited)

Always linked the idea of this, but when I used it never saw the point.

During there free weeks over Christmas previously, I tried it and the quality of the summaries was very poor, I listened to summaries of books that I had read and taken a lot from, but got nothing from the summary but generic basics, like they seemed to miss most of the important points and not much added versus what i could get from watching a youtube video on the book. The summaries completely lacked the depth so i'm not going to bother with this.

I purchased a years subscription full price - and listened to summaries for a few days at the gym before reverting to podcasts and audiobooks. I agree - the summaries aren't useful '5min books'.

That said - a real use case of this is choosing which books to buy... which I guess you could find out any number of other ways (like the mentioned youtube videos) - but summaries could tell you which books contain the information relavent to you.

For those of you who are unable to checkout because card payment is being declined, after using the India VPN to create your account, turn off the VPN and proceed with the trial. It will still charge you with Rupees. I did this and the payment worked with Revolut and UK as my country during the payment.

Can this be used for previewing academic books. I could use to essentially preview them, then decide what to buy a full copy of?
    cheers (edited)
    dizzypanda's avatar

It provides condensed summaries of non-fiction books, including some academic titles, but it may not be the most comprehensive resource for in-depth academic research. Google Scholar may be a better option in your case

50660238-M7nlm.jpgWaste of £6.. I'd be fuming paying £7 or 8 per month. All the best books are not part of the subscription and are paid, prices from £5 to £21 (so far). The rest of the content is mostly available free online (YouTube or podcasts). All they've really done is curate it into one app.

That's true, I was annoyed when I found that out. YouTube and Google Podcast has better content and it's free. I'd feel ripped off if I got Blinkist for free let alone pay £6 for it.

I despise the ethos and idea behind this product, that we can somehow employ a fast food method to learning and reading. However after recently reading the absolutely atrocious Breath: The New Science of a Lost Art by James Nestor, that could have been summarised in 10 seconds, so I get what this is about, but it is a hateful reflection of our current society in my personal view. I can just read trusted reviews (not on Amazon) I would not use this service if I was paid to use it.

Yes I think £6 is a great deal and for me at least doesn't worth going over VPN hoops and so to get it for £3. If this business is making it very affordable here then imo it's better to just support it to keep the service running (edited)

This covers very high points from the books it has and provides a summary at the end. Don't get to read the book and no access to book's text

What about Headway? Does it have discussion points and is there an option to read the book itself
