About this deal

This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:

Cheap for this new machine from Sage if you can handle a few scuffs on it. Has a few missing accessories:

3x Filter Basket,
Cleaning Kit,
Razor,
Water Filter,
Milk Jug,
Manual

Does come with enough accessories to make espresso though. Use double code stack of APPLY20 and SAGESUMMER5.

Details:
There's nothing like a smooth, rich cup of coffee. The Sage Barista Express Impress uses the 4 keys formula for the perfect cup. There's intelligent dosing that adds just the right amount of coffee, and it can calculate and adjust dosing over time, based on the last cup it made – that's pretty clever! The 7° barista twist assisted tamping give this machine a professional feel – it uses 10 kg of pressure to leave a puck surface.

Good to know

- 25 grind settings mean you can adjust the grinding level for plenty of flavour
- Enjoy full flavour with the 54 mm steel portafilter that delivers 18 g of freshly ground beans
- It uses low-pressure pre-infusion for creamy, caramel-coloured espresso
- The thermocoil heating system uses PID temperature control to get water to exactly 93°C
- For smooth, microfoam milk, there's powerful 130°C steam – perfect for lattes

Good price, but it doesn't actually come with all accessories unfortunately.

    Missing Accessories:
    3x Filter Basket,
    Cleaning Kit,
    Razor,
    Water Filter,
    Milk Jug,
    Manual

the filter basket you'll need but the other things you can use alternatives such as milk jug and I bought a load of filters off ebay. manual can be found online. It's probably also a disclaimer and you might get lucky (or not). For this price, I'd risk it as it's a great machine. The baskets and filters you could buy off ebay for circa £20-25 total.

Was debating buying this new as my first 'proper' machine this month. Is it hard to source the missing bits and bobs? I know jugs and that are easy to find, was thinking stuff like what kind of baskets I need to buy (I'm a bit of a novice)

You can get all the bits from Sage direct, it's quick and easy. I was the same as you and bought new. Guess what, it was broken! Got repaired no problem but for half price I'd jump on this!!

Good beans is a must. If you still going to throw in 1kg of Lavazza or similar then don't bother, just get a decent bean to cup machine. I've found good beans aren't much more expensive and the product is a different level from online roasters. (edited)

By refurbished, this company just mean used. Mine was in a right minging state. It’s also not that the accessories are missing, they just keep them, and sell them separately. Good machines, bad eBay seller.

I would disagree have ordered four machines as presents over the past 2 years, all were in excellent condition, one even new. I appreciate you might have had a bad experience but I found the company easy to deal with and took returns well.

I had one from them which I returned as the pump was cutting out. It came as they specified on the listing (one random filter basket rather than 4, no razor, jug or filer). The condition was good and the return was painless so if you are looking for one then worth a gamble.

Just to add mine was the older model about 12 months ago, this one is so new the results should be more positive. With regards the accesories if you do milk drinks you will need a jug (about £10), the other essential is the baskets which are about £8 each. Most people buying this will want the double and single ones non-pressurised (single wall) ones that are best for fresh coffee that you have ground on demand. The other two are pressuried (dual wall) baskets are generally only needed for old/stale beans or pre-ground coffee, if you are doing it right then you probably will never use them.

Any recommendations on a machine that makes really good hot chocolate?
I dont drink coffee but some machines at local shops make great chocolate which is difficult to replicate at home (edited)

    Velvetiser?

Just wondering, I see people mentioning using decent beans, any suggestions?

I really like Monmouth coffee - their basic 'espresso' blend is great and then they get a load of interesting other ones too. A mate just recommended Roastworks Ethiopia blend you can get at Waitrose.

Check first that the parts you need are on sageappliances.com/uk/…876 and in stock as when I got my barista express, the filters I needed as well as all consumables were OOS for literally years

how is it after 6 months of usage? I am just about to order one (edited)
    LCpl_Gungadin's avatar
Mines still going strong, used it almost every day too

Great machine and great price. You'll need the single wall double shot basket for making a brew, and the single + cleaning disc blank for cleaning. If you're going to buy cheap coffee then you'll want the pressurised basket, but why are you buying this machine and using cheap coffee?

The Razer is very useful when dialing in, but you don't 100% need it. (edited)

Go the extra mile and buy a Gaggia Classic. Once these go wrong you know the location of your local waste recycling centre.
    beerlyalive's avatar
I picked up a used Classic for £120, and a used Mazzer Super Jolly for £110.

Added a PID to the Classic for about £90.

My brother has this Sage machine and we can't get espresso close to the Classic/Jolly standard.

But, the Sage is quicker/more convenient.

If you want decent coffee with no faff, get the Sage.

If you want the best coffee possible I'd suggest a Classic and used grinder and be prepared for a tinker. If you want to buy new you're looking at £1k+ for grinder and machine, so it's not really comparable to the Sage at that point.

I bought a similar product from them about October last year for Christmas. In June I had to replace a part at the cost of 40 quid but other than that it has been great considering how much they are new
  16. amwjujo's avatar
I've been looking at those for a while.
    Just ordered one.
    Thank you.

Terrible company, will not sell you spare parts when you have a problem, avoid at all costs.
    pringler's avatar
    Sage or the ebay seller?
  18. jamiet92's avatar
Thanks! I've ordered one. Should arrive by Tuesday so I can let you all know the condition when it arrives.

Which do people think is better ? There are some better deals on SES876 (Barista Pro) than the SES876 (Barista Express) IMO and some reviews seem to suggest the SES878 might be better
    raholmesuk's avatar
So this is the Express Impress; which is an assisted machine, everything says it's better
  20. omar121212's avatar
Anyone's arrived what was the condition? Awaiting for mine today
    devi123's avatar
mine is pretty good, couple of dings but nothing major.
  21. devi123's avatar
    I've ordered:
Cleaning kit from sage (includes the disc)
3 x diff sized baskets (think I already have one but not sure) (from Sage)
    Filters (amazon)
Separate filters for my water filter (from amazon)

Apparently the razor is a waste of time. I don't care about the milk jug or manual (YOLO!).

Friend mentioned Neighbourhood Coffee so I've also ordered some of their beans.

My machine has a bit of a ding on the front but I'm not bothered. Just to note - all these bits and bobs probably totaled around £50 so factor that in to your costs.

    Happy brewing peeps.

Ours broke just outside of the 6 month guarantee period, I repaired it with a 35 quid part then it broke again and I can't be arsed to open it all back up again.
