Had one for a year, these are so incredibly inefficient and disappointing. If you're desperate for a AC then get a split system

Heat added - thanks also for the link to the manual, that was kind and thoughtful. CPC is (IMO) a great company to do business with - I've never had a bad experience with them, or the quality of the stuff that they sell.

I suspect that many that buy this power of aircon wish that they had got something more powerful. Which will run a lot quieter for the same effect, if nothing more.

It looks a good price - could it be that the British Summer didn't turn out as expected?

If it's just the temperature at night, stopping you from sleeping, you might want to consider a cooling pad/mat instead. They have low thermal resistance and turn the area of the pad into a convection heat source, rather than just your top body area. No noise, either....

Really? I like them (I even had shares in them before they were taken over) but tbh I find them basically incompetent. I once ordered a few low value items (e.g. light bulbs) and they included two Raspberry Pis in the box (which I returned because I am a good boy). My mate ordered some fluorescent tubes and they arrived smashed to pieces... the replacements they sent? Also smashed to pieces. Only the third lot did they actually bother to package appropriately. All that mercury
Obviously my experience may not be representative (occasional low value orders) but I think there have been issues of some kind with basically half the orders I've ever placed.

Would wait until winter and get one heavily reduced! I got a similar one last winter expecting a roasting summer, but haven’t used it, and not looking like it’ll be needed this year now.

Heat for the price, no heat from the weather though

Yeah ok I'll bite at that price

So how do you calculate the running cost of these air con units. Is it rated input power x cost kWh (ie 1350w x 30p = 39p per hour)?
    marko888's avatar
Actually I think it is about £1 per hour ie 3.52kw * 30p

Use this in my loft converted bedroom. Large room and works fine for what we need. Stick it on for couple hours before bed and it’s nicely cooled.
Strong fan on it so cools quick if you are near it.
It’s not that quiet so don’t expect to use it whilst trying to sleep. But for £250 it does a decent job.

I got one of those, this exact model in fact on the ideal setup. Insulated vent pipe setup going outside through a wall vent directly. Even then it's quite loud for the couple years I've had it and will never ever get below 25c in the room it's in during the heatwaves this year and is around 5 or 6 quid a day to run.
