    It’s gone up £1,000 in a year. How’s this a deal…

With RPI at 16%, in real terms the car is cheaper now than it was a year ago. (edited)

Nice way of doing things aka the online medium, however negates the dealer haggle element (no doubt) that some like. Also, not sure if it’s a good car 🤷‍♂️ (edited)

Eminent? I assume you mean element? Tesla started all this nonsense online buying and other manufacturers are now following suit, hence fixed prices with no haggling, not for me. Whatever car I have purchased new over the years has always entailed contacting ( not reaching out to ) dealers nationwide for the best price.
The cheapest always got my business, the local overpriced dealer than had the hassle of dealing with me when things went awry and warranty work was required. All bases covered there.

I almost went for this last year when 1K cheaper, but I just could not convince myself that it was a deal. The radio unit was the clincher for me. Have a look at the images of it, looks like something out of a 20 year old car. If you need a cheepo, fairly family friendly, four door car, this is probably a very good deal. But for me, the basics are just very poor.

We had a C3 last year as a courtesy car for a week or so. Hateful thing, I honestly avoided driving it when possible. Driving position is weird, the gearbox feels like it’s operating with rubber bands, the infotainment system is awful and the engine had all the grunt of an asthmatic octogenarian.

Had this as a rental car recently. Trully awful car, designed for those who don't know any better. The engine is way too small for how heavy the car is. Found the cabin space small for the size of the car.

Doesn't everything you sign up to online have a 14 day cooling off period?

Have you driven recently a french car? I have changed my mind with french cars post 2016, great cars not had an issue.

    Citroen are shocking cars
    ezzer72's avatar
    Yeah, they're not great, but at least they're more sensibly priced than most of the other bottom 10 (and less drooled over);

Nice price, I like this engine, it's economical and quiet.

And utterly inadequate in terms of power even for XX century

I test drove a C3 aircross and quite liked it, was close to buying a used one from a dealer then I Googled 'common problems'. Many cars from the Stelantis group that have Puretech type engines now use wet cam belt system where the rubber belt is actually inside the engine block and lubricated with oil. However using incorrect oil or where petrol affects the oil over time makes the rubber cam belt disintegrate over time causing oil pressure problems and for some engine failure. Citroen haven't recalled for this just changed the type of rubber belt used and stipulate a shorter mileage for cambelt service. Shocking really.

Put me off Stelantis group cars. (edited)
    ezzer72's avatar
What kind of recall did you have in mind? Replacing all the engines with a totally redesigned one without the wet belt system?

All cars that use a belt are a pain, and most manufacturers that take this route change the interval recommendation frequently. I used to be a Service Manager with VW, and they regularly moved the goalposts.

Trying to compete against Renault and the brilliant Sandero. We have the latter sat on our dive, I bought a set of alloys from Italy and it cost us £12500 inc those wheels, 18 months ago, brand new! Motoring bargain of the century! Sandero has gone up near £3k since we ordered, due to costs of production. Every single new car has too! If you want a reliable car then this C3 or a Sandero are ideal. We added 3 years servicing for £299, so cheap motoring, as we paid cash for the car. My wife loves it, meanwhile I love my GTI Clubsport 45.
    Deal_searcher's avatar
Sandero is more reliable car and better to be honest. This looks well designed on outside but reliability would be my concern

    “Mixed consumption
    51.36 l/100km***”

    That’s 4.6mpg.

Btw google for the problems with these engines because with the poor I mean manufacturer recommended service intervals…100k and the car goes to the scrap yard. Service every 5-7k.

    “Mixed consumption

Where was that figure quoted? It must be a typo, decimal point in the wrong place.

5.136 litre per 100km is about 55 mpg (UK not US gallons)
