A geographically weird place located south of Spain, which is strangely an United Kingdom oversea territory ! You will realize you're in the UK when you will encounter the famous red phone boothes there. You can also visit the Saint Michael's cave, the Great Siege tunnels, and the high Rock of Gibraltar. Did easyjet to Gib the other month, great flight and service with zero problems, prices are great until you add on hold luggage, if you can manage with a 10K backpack or cabin bag your golden, prices for food and booze in Gib are pretty low compared to the UK.

Id stay across the border in La Linea and walk across to Gib as the prices for Air B&B etc are a lot cheap than staying in Gib, border crossing is a breeze and a bus to the main Casements area is about 3 euros return, they stop at 9pm though so be aware of that.

    HEATY!! (edited)

Do they check passport when crossing the border?

Great place for a long weekend. done it a few times staying at The ( O'callaghan) Elliott hotel. Not overly cheap but very central and great view from the breakfast room at the top. Search mygibraltar.co.uk they specialise in short breaks / holidays. Also have a Holiday inn down towards the Airport runway, your be out during the day and i dont think they fly late at night and im sure it's been soundproofed accordingly.

Yep, no late or particularly early flights so you'd be fine at the Holiday Inn

They check passports so you can't.

My appendix had an unexpected but very brief independent existence there. We ended up with a few extra days in a rather nice hotel and a super Boeuf Wellington to share. Even a taxi home from the UK airport, that I wasn't expecting at all. Not that I remember much of it, other than that meal. I don't remember the hospital at all.

After all the horror stories about medical problems abroad, I thought that I would just mention that it isn't always like that.

I think you may be missing a comma there? Otherwise it is a very different message!

And Ronda, well worth a day trip.
    Nice train ride from Algeciras.

If you go to the rock, buy your cable car tickets in advance otherwise you'll end up queuing for ages.

    Pre-book a dolphin ride too.

Booze is really cheap at the airport but they limit the amount you can buy if from the UK.

Stay in La Linea. It's cheaper than Gib and you can walk across the runway to get there.
