Though I own a series s. If your in the hunt for a next gen console. Then personallly recommended the ps5 disk or digital.

Fair few Devs have complained about the series s and Microsoft parity for it. Look at Boulders Gate 3. Releasing on PS5 this month and potentially delayed until next year for Xbox series X and s because of the S.

I'll buy an S purely for emulation when the right deal comes along.

It probably never will be. The series S is less powerful than a Series X and is a digital only console.

Same, I've been trying to order this for a friend who is getting the same message for the past few days as well. Amazon CS are useless, they think it's because the controller is out of stock with them, but I dunno why you can't preorder it when it will deffo come back into stock at some point.

Hopefully they'll now do a white Series X in the not so distant future.
    Accy_Chap's avatar
There was a white series x in a Logitech ad last year but it never appeared maybe due to covid or stock issues of the original. Would be cool though if they did release it

Think this should be expired. As it stands, not a single person has actually managed to buy it.

I feel like you should be able to shop around and get a Series X or PS5 (probably digital) for another £50 ish, and they'll perform noticably better (albeit that they wouldn't come with the additional controller). (edited)

Yeah I suppose recently they was one where if you trade in an old console you could get disc ps5 for £299

    This is overpriced.

You can get a used Series X for around that price.

And I used Series S for below £150
    Moody_Cloud's avatar
Yup, this should be £200 max for a new system for the 1tb model. The 512gb should be £150.

With the upcoming release of the digital slim PS5 at around £350, that will make this look like even more of a rip off.

MS should never have released this. It should always have been a digital Series X. Sony got it right from day one and in hindsight it shows that Jim Ryan wasn't BS'ing when he said consumers don't like weaker versions of consoles.

Deal doesn't work. Maybe was an amazon glitch

I personally would go PS5 digital or save for a series x games on this already are being capped at 30fps.
    m.ad's avatar
Don't get the PS5 Digital - it is a pain being tied to PSN store (even if you have access to the Turkey store)

Seems overpriced at this point, second controller included. Poorer value compared to the more powerful machines today. Bit more expensive but a lot more powerful, with a disc drive to boot. Easily makes up for that pretty modest price differential. Cheaper used games and resale value.

When the gap was £200 between £250 Series S and £450 Series X on launch and you had no bundles or discounts or used hardware then OK. It was understandable to make a case for that Series S. Even better when used examples/deals started to appear around £200.

But now with this new £300 model it is closer in price difference to the better machines. This Series S at £300 albeit with an extra controller, or a Series X bundle at £475 with a new £60 game like Diablo 4.

A used warrantied Series X is also what, under £400 regularly?

So that gap in value between this Series S and X is now smaller than it ever was. Makes this S look less attractive to my eyes. You still only get the low end chipset with cut down visuals and 30FPS caps but you're closer to full X pricing. (edited)

    RRP is a £180 gap.

    Xbox Series S 512gb - £249
    Xbox Series S 1TB - £299
    Xbox Series X - £479

Love my S and have 2 in the house

I have the X and S, two great consoles, with the S being my go to gaming console due to that fantastic small 70 watts it uses max, over the insane lekky bills for the last year plus.......and it has allowed me to keep gaming without funding a 8th Rolls Royce for the ceo's of the energy companies. lol

Don't do this they are completely different experiences, if you want a gaming PC you already know you do.

Have a Series X already, and considered having one of these for convenience given my son has the standard Series S, and was surprised how small and light they are given obvious components not part of the innards. Currys owe me 10% off an order for a messed up Xbox SSD order a few months ago, so may still consider it.

That said, I'd like to add a PS5 to the collection being more of a PlayStation person before, but the potential Pro model next year would be of far more interest.
    Diabolik88's avatar
Should have grabbed a PS5 in that promo over the last couple of weeks because a Pro is still only a rumour.

Seeing I've had a Series X for 2.5 years now it's put me off getting a PS5 but being able to pick one up for 352 quid last week finally made me jump on board.

Needless to say I'm very happy with it thus far

So they're not discontinuing this underpowered thing?
  16. HogarthHughes's avatar
Supporting the S is now holding developers back, 300 seems a lot for what you’re actually getting.
  17. Nujol's avatar
These things are so robust. I’d shop around for a 512gb model for £150 Inc Controller second hand.

Use £50 to get an external drive to shuttle games to/from the hyper fast internal SSD.
    iby2012's avatar
yeah or just the 1tb xbox external storage even at that price 150+150 ur at 1.5gb of storage instead of 1tb
  18. DevilWithin's avatar
Surely better off finding a 2nd hand/cheap Series X (or PS5 digital) than buying this?
  19. Duke_Nukem90's avatar
Personally I’d just shop around for an X. The 512gb on the S hasn’t really bothered me as i just delete stuff when I’m finished. The price point for this larger Series S is a bit rubbish I think. (edited)

    White one looks better anyway.
  21. Kaz00ie's avatar
new slightly smaller ps5 launching this year with slits on the side - i'd wait for this as Sony will probably hit a £349 price point.
    Moody_Cloud's avatar
If it's digital only then yes. If it's with a disc drive then no way will it be cheaper than £399.

Might aswell pay extra £70 and get ps5 disk version, some cracking deals at the moment.Watching digital foundry over the weekend,a few devs struggling to get the performance already, out of series s for many next gen games.

PS5 deals have all but gone. Was a 2 week price reduction direct from Sony , Disc consoles are now £480 again.
