Yes the old google /waze fans. I use Google but its not as good as TomTom, my opinion of course.

I use copilot on my phone but prefer the satnav as changing music on apple music means losing the direction screen, can't do both at the same time, these units have one job and do it well

You will need a dedicated phone with magnetic plate for quick release

I do. I use it in the house, scroll through the map and memorise the route. Scrolling through the map is a pain though. I wish there was a way it could be printed out on a big sheet of paper and folded up so I could take it with me.

Vote here for dedicated sat nav also.

My Dad's looking for a basic sat nav and this seems to fit the bill, seems to have dropped by £10 too. Are the map updates lifetime? Does it plug into the cigar lighter or run on batteries?

And does it release from the mount so you can take it out of the car? (edited)

Sorry for all the questions but I'm not clued up on sat navs. Does it need to be connected to a smartphone to use some of the features? He's still got an old Iphone 6 so probably wont be any good!!
