Can you use this for a ps5 and would you need to buy a separate heatsink for it?
    Alvie's avatar
This won't work on a PS5 because it is PCIe 3.0.

PCIe 4.0 is required for PS5..

Edit: it should also have 5500MB/s reads but it's not really enforced (edited)

    This or Corsair MP600 PRO?
Will I be able to tell the difference in performance?
    NoNamesLeftWhy's avatar
Unless you are transferring large files all day every day the difference in speed wont be noticeable.

Please is there any site which will help confirm if this is compatible with my laptop ? I have a Dell Inspiron 15 3510 - the existing 256gb SSD is killing me ! I found this in the manual
Your computer supports one of the following configurations:
    One 2.5-inch SATA hard drive
    One M.2 2230/2280 for solid-state drive
    One 2.5-inch hard-drive and one M.2 2230/2280 solid-state drive

    Thank you ! (edited)

Bought 980 Pro and used in enclosure via Thunderbolt 4.

Constant drops in speed, bought WD and its smooth as butter.

    No more Samsung for me.
    GOODSTUFF's avatar
980 pro is known to have inconsistency issues. However with latest software updates they have apparently been fixed.

But if you can Samsung 990 Pro they’re top notch. I currently have 1 rig with 970 Evo (not Evo Plus) and its imo excellent gen 3, so I assume this is even better as its Plus. But yh 980 Pro can be a hassle for some users and not everyone would want to update it

edit: my new rig has 990 pro and its amazing! though i cant tell much of a difference as 970 evo was already pretty fast. same with SN850 WD Black. very good SSDs (edited)

Is it a good drive? It's cheap for sure but will it last? Does it have a cache? Is it TLC?
I could not proceed with the French site as do not speak French but a similar price is on Amazon DE and it is possible to use the DE site in the English language.
    Just a few quid more.

    Alvie's avatar
Just make sure the SSD adaptor supports NVMe. Some are SATA only

  22. Shock's avatar
Having looked in to this, it looks like it's sold by Samsung as a PCIe 3x drive, though the new models seen to support 4x but Samsung still lists it as 3x.

So, assume it won't work with PS5.

Even though Amazon. Fr listed it as Pcie x4 and sata.
    tempt's avatar
You might be mixing number of lanes and pcie gen. Both gen 3 and gen 4 nvme drives take up four lanes, i.e. x4. Gen 4 offers more bandwidth and the four lanes offer more throughput making these drives compatible with PS5.

I've got a gigabyte b450m ds3h motherboard anyone know if this is compatible it has an m2a socket. I'm not up to date with pc building and this board is a getting on a bit. Was thinking of upgrading but I'm thinking it'll have to start at the motherboard and basically build a new rig
    TheWorm42's avatar
Ha getting on a bit, it's like 3 years old, i have nvme drives on my 15year old mobo albeit on a riser card(can even play cyberpunk on it). Pretty sure it'll work just fine, it can take most of regular sizes up to 110mm. Your board looks good enough not to need replacing for a few more years to come. (edited)

What would the cost of this be to get it shipped to the UK? Considering we have left the EU will that incure extra costs?
    DoublePortingDad's avatar
I do not think so. Amazon claims VAT included not sure about the import duty. Has anyone tried that?
