The only range that bears the name of our company’s founder: King C. Gillette. This razor features an iconic design inspired by Gillette's heritage, for edging with ultimate precision. A single platinum-coated double-edged blade shapes with precise accuracy, ideal for edging sideburns and strong beard lines. Gillette's closed comb design allows great control, while the high-quality chrome-plated handle ensures long-lasting durability.

Step 1 & 2
Wash with the King C Gillette beard & face wash to hydrate/soften the beard hairs. Using a circular motion, apply King C Gillette Transparent Shave Gel – so you can see where you shave.

Step 3
Hold the razor handle at approx. 30° so the blade is positioned at an optimal angle to the skin. Take short strokes in the direction of the hair.

Step 4
For a closer shave, reapply shave prep and take additional shaving strokes against the direction of the hair growth.

100 blades for this cost about £5 - £10, depending on brand, I'll never go back to rip off cartridges.

I normally favour Astra Platinum or Feather blades. Feather's though are double the price. I hear Astra blades are Russian though so when I do need to restock my blades (it's been like 5 years since I purchased any blades) I'll be buying the Feather's.

This place is decent for shaving stuff labarbiera.co.uk

Excellent razor and blades for beginners or those who prefer mild razors. Plenty of good videos on YouTube for learning; I prefer the ones from Mantic59. A good online forum is The Shaving Room.

I suggest those who buy this get a variety pack of blades to see which one works for you. Not every blade suits everyone. You can no longer buy these on eBay but other options are Razor Blades Club, Connaught Shaving or Executive Shaving. (edited)

I bought this last time it was "on offer". I can confirm, it's well worth the change from cartridge razors. Nice weight, great shave. Keeps you on your toes though, cut myself twice since having it, both times I got careless and was rushing. You save money, it's better for the environment (you can collect dull blades and recycle them) and it gives a really good shave. Win all round.

If you are wondering whether to buy it-go for it! I switched few years ago, I wouldn't consider to going back to Mach 3 etc. Best shave, I don't cut myself and it's cheap. We might have been conned by the leading companies that we need 3 blades etc
    Smoggy1970's avatar
The old 3 blades is better myth
They are a total rip off and don't shave anywhere near as close as this one.

Decent razor, Astra blades work well with it, Derby blades are even cheaper but not tried them yet. Arko soap is pretty cheap and works well too. I'm never going back to the ripoff stuff.

    Arko soap

    Derby blades

Oh yeah and Alum Block is also really handy tightening up the skin and preventing razor bumps etc... just try not to get any in your eye haha.

    Alum block (edited)

eBay no longer allow Razor Blade sales.

Those Alum blocks are reconstituted, and don't last as long as proper natural alum blocks such as Osma Alum Bloc from France - they aren't massively different in price either.

I think I'll try these to feel more manly
    CoffeeORmoreCoffee's avatar
The only thing more manly is shaving your sweaty face in the jungle with a bic razor with Arnie watching for predator

Does this prevent razor burns better compared to normal mach3 etc? Got a Gillette razor for sensitive skin but it just destroys my neckline. Using machine only now..
    Mattds's avatar
I have always suffered with razor burns and ingrown hairs. Since switching to this months ago, I have experienced none!

I have the Phillips one blade, what’s this like in comparison?
    CoffeeORmoreCoffee's avatar
I have both , the razor is longer lasting as its closer shaving but also takes longer and you can of course cut yourself. For shaping the beard under the chin and neck the razor is superior but again takes alot more effort. In a hurry and want a good tidy up.. one blade.. want to treat yourself...razor

Never tried one of these but for £10, it's worth a punt.

I changed to this about 18 months ago. I've had more cuts in that time than all my life, but it's good gives a good shave. The cuts were my fault, clumsy handling, a sharp edge from the razor that slightly overhangs the edges, a head that was loose. Overall more risk but more economical than cartridges and better than any electric shaver I've ever owned.

Once you're in to 'save money' watch how many different blades, shaving creams, aftershaves, balms, lotions and potions you buy
    gg1pl's avatar
You can buy & do all that with cartridge razors too

Only difference is you get 100 DE blades for the cost of 1 cartridge (edited)

I've been using this razor for about a month, and in my large hands the razor handle is too short, does anyone know of a longer handle that will fit this razor?
If not I will have to get the long handled Mercur 24C
    Thanks all

Been using this for the last few months and despite all the cuts, I would definitely recommend.
While learning to use it, someone suggested using a transparent shaving gel which has helped a lot. I do cut myself a lot still, but the closeness you get it amazing. If my hair gets too long I can’t use this as it just clogs the razor. Not sure if anyone has a solution for that, but I now find I shave a bit more regularly

Try unscrewing the head of the razor a little bit without separating it, then go for the water. It works for me

re these razors any good for shaving your head? I shave daily and shave my head in the shower, have sensitive skin, not sure if this will rip my skin to bits
currently use cornerstone razor and blades

I use this but with amazon brand blades. Works well for me. Rarely nick myself now and a very close shave.

Would these work for head shavers?
    villageidiotdan's avatar
Yes, you can use these to shave your head
