Unusually looks like even the onboard 8gb can be removed so you could add two 16gb sticks, or even apparently two 32gb for real overkill.

Best (and cheapest) to just add another 8GB stick for dual-channel operation.

Good price for what's on offer here, the RX 6500M is fairly close to the RTX 3050 and you don't usually see those below £550-600 these days (not that I'd recommend it). RAM and SSD are low but easily and cheaply fixed. Nice added value with the headset and mouse, one less thing to have to buy separately.

I was trying to find how decent the GPU is on these APUs. Got any links that show how they perform against the 3050 that you've indicated? 3050 performance would be very good tbh

Careful thinking you can just upgrade the RAM. I have an HP Pavilion gaming laptop, and it ran worse with 32GB in it... you can't change BIOS settings for it on an HP, so most likely why.

You can upgrade the RAM just fine on this... very few gaming laptops have settings for RAM. Adding a second stick will be faster as you'll enable dual-channel. There are almost no situations where adding RAM would be a worse idea...

    Will it run Crysis?

Looks good for the money but the ram is a bit limiting as is a 256gb SSD.

With that being said both are dirt cheap at the moment so the question becomes is this better than a ~£520ish machine after you upgrade the ram and the SSD?

Good point. I bought a single 16GB DDR4 ram stick for under £29 from a deal still available. What competitors have you seen around the £520 mark? As I was contemplating this but put off. But the Intel i5 HP Victus that was available a couple weeks ago was quite a bit more powerful than this CPU.

I don't think the design is daring enough!

The Victus is below the Omen model which isn't that daring itself, so this would be even more conservative

Would this be good for a student?

Yea it'd be alright. Nice laptop and for some light gaming

How powerful would this be for emulation? Everything up to PS3/Xbox 360? Think it will be underpowered for that but long as it's perfect for everything under that it's cool.

I'm running canary to emulate an xbox 360 on my desktop with a 3060TI and its hard-pushed to cope.
So no, this laptop integrated graphics won't be able to do that imo

Is this gpu better than 3060 or ?

disappointing to see a gaming laptop make the fatal mistake of having mini arrow keys

I'm looking for a laptop that I can play games on while working away, FIFA and the like, would this be good if I update the ram, could I play games off an external 3.0 drive as I have plenty (edited)

    yes

Get another 8gb of ram for it, even a kid will notice it is slow in games without it
