Watch Ultra GPS + Cellular, 49mm Titanium Case with Ocean Band, One Size

Meet Apple Watch Ultra.
It’s the Apple Watch taken to new levels of robustness and capability. Built with adventure and exploration in mind, it features a robust titanium case, precision dual-frequency GPS, the freedom of cellular connectivity, and up to 36 hours of battery life. Plus the other great health, fitness and wellbeing features of Apple Watch, this takes the sports watch experience to the next level of endeavour.

Tough
Every element is crafted with painstaking attention to detail for peak performance. Titanium strikes an ideal balance between weight and ruggedness. The case design rises up to surround the flat sapphire crystal and protect it from edge impacts, and the digital crown is larger than the regular Apple Watch, and the side button is raised, so they’re easier to use when wearing gloves.

Bigger, brighter display, with Night Mode
Direct sunlight is no obstacle for an Always On Retina display that’s an eye opening 2,000 nits and twice as bright as a regular Apple Watch. And the bigger display provides more room for workout metrics and detail packed watch faces. The Wayfinder face features a time dial that can be switched to a live compass, and in low-light situations, you can rotate the Digital Crown to activate Night mode and see the watch face turn a vivid red.

Action button
This gives you quick, physical control over a variety of functions. It’s customisable and can do things like control a workout, mark a Compass Waypoint or begin a dive.

Based on previous price drops, no lower than this, the watch 7 hardly discounted when the 8 was released.

I have the three straps and the alpine looks good with a new interesting fitting but can be little fiddly at 1st & often taps the screen when taking off which is annoying (recommend a screen protector) the trail loop is by far the most comfortable the Velcro get you the perfect fit & keep going back to that one , then the ocean loop is surprisingly good and is best ideal for warmer times of the year that breathes well .

What makes this worth more than £70 ?

Just demand nothing else its a brand name, its crazy to think these are more exoensive than games consoles and a budget gaming laptop mental. Apple are something else

Love mine. So much more reassuringly robust than normal Apple Watch especially when I’ve accidentally knocked it.
    252Scooby_'s avatar
Yes agreed much stronger which is good reassurance, these are so rare that when people see it they don’t know it’s an Apple Watch ⌚️ it’s definitely their best product of 2022 . The 5 days no charge on low power mode is just the bee knees

I get the hate but obviously aimed at very specific people. I got it at launch as I wanted to upgrade my series 3 which I wore basically everyday for years.

It’s got better battery, screen, speed etc and looks very rugged which as a 6ft 90kg+ guy is a very welcome change as I hated how standard Apple Watches looked on my wrist.

I workout without my phone but have cellular in case of emergencies which I absolutely love.

Is it a totally luxury product - yes
Does it make people be more active and dedicated to fitness and being without phones etc - it definitely can

For these reasons it’s worthwhile for me. Especially when you factor in the sapphire display and titanium body which I expect will make this watch last a long time.

Sapphire that's actually just glass. Scratches at a level 6, with deeper grooves at a level 7.

£700 for an Apple Watch. What has the world come to?

Exorbitant price. Buy an unbranded Chinese watch, an in car sat nav, or use a free app on your phone, and have a week in Spain with the £500+ change.
    Set-Phasers-To-Stun's avatar
It’s a great price and worth the money, I have one and am looking to book my 4th holiday this year, done Spain already so may have to be Bali next. I worked hard all my life, now I’m taking it easy and spending on whatever I fancy, no point keeping money in the bank forever.

apple watch 650- battery life 1 day

alibaba el cheapo watch- has all the same features- battery life 2 weeks
    rodman's avatar
60 hours is not 1 day, you should be looking for calculator. Not the watch.
  9. ayaz51's avatar
Honestly speaking as a day one owner. Over priced over hyped and completely under baked. It’s only 4g.
  10. Lakshitha's avatar
Why are prices dropping on these is the Ultra 2 getting released next month?
    rofluk's avatar
Yes. New one in a month or two.

Just been into the Apple Store to try it in with the Alpine Loop strap. Looks great. Just not sure whether it’s too big though. When you’re looking at it face on it looks okay. When it’s sitting down by your side it looks enormous. Decision, decisions!!
    pivcio's avatar
Same here but apparently ultra 2 would be available with smaller cases. I have ordered this one and will wait to see if that’s true

Great find OP. Thanks for sharing.

Stuck with JL for the extra year guarantee, got a midnight band version from a London store, they deliver for free. (edited)

Typical apple deal, lovers and haters
At the end of the day, if someone wants to spend this money on a smart watch, and has the funds to do so, why the heck is anyone bothered? I really don't understand it, never have, never will. I bought a z fold4, do I need that no, would I be happy with a £200 used oppo find x3 Neo, yep, but I wanted a fold4 weird

Absolutely agree. There will always be people that disagree. I’ve had Garmin, Android and Apple watches. Yes, it is expensive but some Garmin watches cost more, fenix 7 pro & epix gen2 pro (no LTE). Android? In my experience, not great, inaccurate readings (Samsung). For integration Apple wins hands down. People pays their money and takes their choice

Do people actually get enough use out of these to justify the cost, just wondering as I bought a Nike Edition 7 and now the novelty factor has worn off it just sits in a drawer so am beginning to wonder what i missed.
    Libre11's avatar
These are aimed at athletes or people that train/are active weekly. I use mine every day in the gym/running/swimming & most weekends. Great for ultra runs, triathlons, hiking etc & the battery lasts ages! If you just need a watch to track a run every now n then, or don't really do much hiking etc then definitely no need for the Ultra

What a monumental waste of money this is, may as well save up a bit and buy a quality mechanical watch that will actually hold value and use your phone for GPS like every other sane person (edited)
    somebloke1's avatar
I know what you are saying, but my quality mechanical watch sits in a drawer unused. Whilst my series 5 Apple Watch is currently on my wrist with next to 0 battery because I’ve not had time to charge it fully this weekend.

These watches make no sense financially but I’m sucked in to the convenience of them.

Same price across retailers, including Amazon Apple Watch Ultra (GPS + Cellular, 49mm) Smart watch - Titanium Case with Midnight Ocean Band. Fitness Tracker, Precision GPS, Action Button, Extra-Long Battery Life, Brighter Retina Display amzn.eu/d/h…CbE

I’ve liked these since launch but so far my willpower has let me wait till at least Gen 2 so I can get slimmer bezels.
    sal1mkhan's avatar
Am also resisting for the same reason

What a complete waste of money. It will be a brick with the apple logo next. £450
    9pth9h8fvb's avatar
I don’t get all these negative comments, if it’s not for you just carry on. But if you’re in the apple ecosystem and you did actually want one of these it’s a great deal posted by Switchy.
  21. KitKatFox's avatar
I was very lucky to receive one of these from CEX after ordering an SE (1 in a million chance I’m sure) and would never have even dreamed of spending £800+ at the time on a watch.

HOWEVER there’s no way I’d buy a regular one now, much rather save up for another ultra in 4-5 years time. The battery life, robustness and bigger screen (even on my thin arms) just make this a dream to use. I quite often go out without my iPhone now as it does everything I need my phone to do with a screen plenty big enough to type/swype on. For keen runners (I came from a Garmin) I find this to be the best complete solution, you can easily run a full marathon or Olympic distance Triathlon (I’ve tested it on a half marathon and sprint distance tri). I don’t think the claims of 16+ hours on GPS for Ironman distance events are exaggerated either.

Like the higher priced iPhones, I think the Ultra is really worth the premium. (edited)

    Lucky! Congrats.

For me the true test of whether an upgrade is worth it is to just test the upgrade and afterwards see how willing that person is to downgrade. Your anecdote is testament to that.

This is a nice deal if someone is looking Om for an ultra. However, I have spent a lot in the recent years on smart watches and I personally feel smart watches are probably a big waste of money. I never go out without a phone even if my watch was cellular. Other than to see who is calling or time or an occasional timer and finally finding my phone I had no other major use for these watches. An activity tracker less than £20 would be enough for an average fitness freak. My personal thoughts. Has anyone felt in a similar way?
    MBCH's avatar
I would’ve agreed with my previous non-cellular Apple Watch….. was useless without the phone being nearby. I bought the cellular series 5 almost 3 years ago, and has been a gem. As a teacher, I don’t want my phone on me (trying to set an example!) and my Apple Watch helped me to be aware of important events when, for example, we were going through house sale-purchase etc…… I also like not taking my phone to the gym, and listening to music via the watch (phone left at home)….. so for me, the cellular Apple Watch works a treat 🏻 (edited)

At the great risk of getting shot down I can't understand why people are so entranced by Apple, yep I've got an iPad pro but only for net searching and reading the paper as it's convenient but never owned an iPhone and never likely too whilst Android is around. Each to their own eh?!
    yorkshireboy's avatar
You have an ipad pro for web searching and reading the newspapers?

Thats more overkill than a couch potato buying the apple watch ultra
  24. rash's avatar
wtf 700 for a watch, kudos to apple for making it and selling it, but who pays 700 for a smart watch, then you need their phone too another 1k and obviously airpods too, 2 grand all in, lol (edited)

    Well said.

Had mine for 6 months and managed to return it. Really is over hyped. You'd be best with a garmin. Much much better battery life.

  26. deleted334239's avatar
Gonna hold out for a few weeks see what happens had series 7 since release I wanna get an ultra just wanna see if ultra 2 will be worth the upgrade
  27. kinnth's avatar
These watches are great just too big! I’d want a smaller size
    doppo666's avatar
Same the 45mm watches cover my exact wrist these would look silly on my wrist I’m sure they will release a smaller version as there missing out on a huge consumer base ie most the female population due to this
  28. just_a_guest's avatar
    Not worth the price
    9pth9h8fvb's avatar
Disagree. If you’re in the market for an Apple Watch anyway it can be worth the upgrade depending on your needs. My mother in law smashed her screens on Apple Watches and they are really expensive to repair. The sapphire crystal on these is near indestructible when compared to the glass. Which some may feel makes it worth the money alone.
  29. blahblahblah123's avatar
Obscene amount of money for this. Apple are very clever in getting people to accept prices like these are reasonable.

If it was £1010 it might have hit a 2000 heat.

    £700 for a watch :/
    Jiebo0123's avatar
Not really for those who cant afford it
  31. pivcio's avatar
Have ordered, great price but I will hold on with opening the box for couple of weeks as price my drop soon due to ultra 2 coming out- I hope the case will be smaller as I do find the 49mm too large
    jouster's avatar
Doubt you’ll see it smaller, the case is mainly that size for he battery they use. Any smaller and the battery life would suffer which is the main reason you’d buy that Watch. But at least you now have the option
  32. Lifeistooshort's avatar
Received mine from amazon today, but realised I don't have an iPhone. Can I use the watch with my S22 or as standalone watch? (edited)

Hi. Another deal and couldn't resist. Thank you.
  34. plewis00's avatar
Guess it's a good price for new but there is likely to be a new version soon (probably not a big upgrade knowing Apple) and likely this current version will end up discounted. I've seen a few people with them but seem to be for the aesthetic rather than any specialist features, majority seem to stick with the normal Apple Watch.

  37. herrbz's avatar
It might be a slight price drop, but I can't fathom why this gets so much heat whenever it's posted. £670 for a smart watch.

The Apple Watch is now not only the worlds best selling smartwatch but it’s now the best selling Watch . Like the AirPods at 1st they look like top of an electric toothbrush but now they’re everywhere and AirPods alone are a multi billion dollar company alone Crazy
