Signature electric guitar with Custom ProBucker pickups, including case
Part of the Inspired by Gibson Slash Collection, the Epiphone Slash Les Paul Standard Appetite Burst features all the appointments the influential Guns N' Roses guitarist preferred on his personal instruments. Wrapped in a classic sunburst Finish with Slash's "Skully" logo on the back of the headstock, the electric guitar comes in a classic set-neck design with a beefy neck profile and Custom ProBucker pickups for that signature Slash sound. Last but not least, indestructible Epiphone Hardware and a Custom hardshell case complete the Slash Les Paul Standard by Epiphone.

Traditional Slash Les Paul

With the construction of the Slash Les Paul Standard Epiphone follows the guidelines established since the Fifties. In addition to the mahogany body, whose solid maple top is finished with a beautiful AAA-quality curly maple veneer, the electric guitar has a glued mahogany neck, whose strong slash Custom C profile promises comfortable playing characteristics on the 22-fret Indian Laurel fretboard.
Custom ProBucker pickups with Orange drops

To get the typical Slash tone out of the guitar amplifier, Epiphone equips the Slash LP Standard with Custom ProBucker pickups, which with their moderate output, vocal mids and airy sound development are completely in the tradition of the legendary PAF humbuckers. To customize the guitar sound, the Signature guitar is equipped with a classic 3-way shader, which promises particularly harmonious Treble roll-offs thanks to Orange Drop capacitors.
Epiphone Hardware

High-quality Epiphone hardware that promises long-lasting playing pleasure with unlimited reliability completes the Epiphone Slash Les Paul Standard Appetite Burst. The LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge, which locks securely onto its pins, guarantees perfect intonation and string action adjustment. Behind the Graph Tech saddle on the Kalamazoo headstock, Epiphone Vintage Deluxe tuners provide an accurate and stable tuning of the guitar.

Get what your favourite guitarists play. If their guitar looks like this, go for this.

Look, the budget guitar market is crazy good these days. You can't swing a cat without hitting one that's basically well made and cheap. So don't let that alone determine what you choose. The electronics (pickups etc, how it sounds) are going to be the same weak spot in all of them, so don't let that determine it either. They can be changed later anyway.

Get one that makes you feel good. Most household name guitarists started exactly the same way as you will, by wanting to be like their heroes and buying a guitar like theirs. No shame in it. Or maybe just a random one you think looks cool, why not.

Pay for a setup so it's nice to play, again that should get something enjoyable out of anything beyond the bottom of the barrel.

And there you go. A £300+ guitar you can get a decent sound quality as well but that's not what matters right now. You just want something to enjoy and keep using.

Yes, but this doesn't mean you have to get the signature model. In my opinion, get a used Les Paul Prophecy or other high end Epiphone model instead, you can find it for less than this and it's a significantly better guitar. There are absolute tons of them in the market because people upgrade to Gibson eventually for the fancier name on the headstock lol. (edited)

Hmmm, they get a lot of praise but my niece had one and it was the shoddiest guitar I’ve seen. Yes it was a lower model but it should never have left the factory.

Price has been slashed ... nice deal

This is a good deal. Especially as it comes with a hard shell case too

This is an utter bargain. You could flog the case for close to a hundred on its own.

I'm sure this guitar is just fine as Epiphone's quality standards have soared in fairly recent times. However if you want to sound like Slash for £200 less, buy the Harley Benton SC 550 ii and a set of Tesla Shark pickups from Iron Gear. Very close on sound and feel and appearance and a highly regarded budget guitar.

£511 on Thomann but not quite £499

I don’t know what the UK VAT position is with DV247, I do know with Thomann that the VAT is prepaid, so what you see is what you pay.

These were widely available at £499 from many UK dealers last year but seem to be in the £599 to £699 range now, so still a good deal at £511
