Spotted these which regularly come up on here with and get some heat at £65.

In the market for some new knives but will be storing in a drawer so wandering if there are better options out there as not fussed for the block. Any guidance much appreciated for an amateur home chef!

If you have a Zwilling outlet near it’s worth a visit as they had some good offers, I got this zwilling.com/uk/…ets for £90 (“normal” outlet price £150, reduced to £100 and 10% if you subscribed to the newsletter in store). Individual knives were well-priced, too, and going there had the big benefit that you could hold them to see how they feel. This was the Wembley store, I made a little detour when travelling through London and it was well worth it.

Bought a similar set about 6 months ago and very pleased with them. This set is a great deal.

Eww, looks like those metal sharpening tools that ruins knives. Thought these blocks might have a ceramic or stone sharpening system.

The description from Zwilling / Henckels says: The self-sharpening slots boast built-in ceramic honing wheels that automatically sharpen when knives are stored or removed. (Got it from the last time I did an edit on these) (edited)

If you need more info on these, I did an edit a while back (exact same set) and linked to some details about the Zwilling knife ranges (telling you things like - are they Stamped or Forged? and country of manufacture).

This set is the Henckels Model Number ‎101122 - Henckels Definition 7-pcs Brown Ash Knife Block Set. (edited)

Thanks for sharing this - very very helpful. I'm looking for the most affordable German Forged set. Any recommendations?

    Just bought!

Im assuming these are a "budget" Henckels set? I'm sure I remember individual knives costing this much...

I don’t think they’re the budget ones. I think the original price may be lower here.

These in fenwicks were £215 before the sale.

I'm a little incredulous that a block could sharpen the knives.. What do we think guys?
    sheffield788's avatar
It keeps them sharp, it does not really sharpen them. I've got my Zwilling set a year ago and so far, so good.

    Good deal and hot.

Got these, very impressed with quality and weight. My partner managed two cuts on her fingers in her first use, she was impressed too (edited)

I am not sure if this is of use to anyone, but these similar knives are also reduced in price down from £99.55 to £88.99.
They have silver handles unlike the black ones in the OP deal.

I hope it is of use to someone!

Bought this set a couple of years ago for £95, even then they were great value.
    At £65 it's a no-brainer.
Certainly better than the much more expensive Ninja set that everyone was going wild for.

When drawing the knives from the block don't put any pressure on them thinking it will sharpen them quicker, all you will end up doing is damaging the rollers/mechanism.
Let the weight of the knife do the work, if it's not as sharp as you like just pull it through a couple more times. (edited)
