I’m not sure why, but my local PO said that they can’t do tracked 24 / 48 services and that I could do signed for or RMSD ?!
    herby247's avatar
Royal mail and post office are two DIFFERENT companies.
Post office don't do royal mail tracked.
  2. stedaman's avatar
It's been like that a while, basically the fee they give the post office 16p
I assume free collection will continue as well. (edited)
    gamer21's avatar
yea if you remove the collection so you can take it to a PO it will charge you 16p extra
  3. freyabo's avatar
I sell on eBay, in my experience Royal Mail far more reliable than Evri, DPD etc. for delivering on time. Free collection is excellent too.
    andre199017's avatar
    100%. Evri are terrible.

For 24/48 tracked Parcels, There is a £0.16 Supplementary Charge if you drop them off yourself to the Post office.

    Never has been for me.

So, to confirm; it's 16p off if you have these collected by RM or drop them off at the depot.

Full price if sending via the Post Office, but still a great price with tracking & £150 cover.
  6. CynicalNurse's avatar
Been this price for ages but only when you purchase direct from RM and have it collected or drop.in at a delivery office. To be honest the scam is that eBay charge you £3.45 even if you have it collected by RM despite claiming you save money buying through them.

Also if you buy it direct from RM they will refund without question if it's not delivered on time, photo is not taken, signature not obtained if you request one etc. Had a tracked one the other day going to a company "Roberts Solicitors". Postman signed for it as "Robert" and just put it through the letterbox. ,£4.80 refunded back.

Soon be cheaper to send you mail and letters etc by Royal tracked service than a stamp :/
    highlandspring100's avatar
And parcels are delivered in a timely manner, unlike the post

Good price rate for a decent delivery service. Ashame the Royal mail delivery offices have changed their opening hours. Gone from 8am - 2pm to 8am - 10am making it unusable for many people. Saturday is until 12 but what a joke window of an opening time.
    djandy_2001's avatar
Totally agree 8am - 10am is a joke, I use alternative services now

    Been this price for ages

No. It was £3.45 in the first week of July, but dropped to the current price a month ago. I checked my bank statement to confirm. (edited)

If you only got that actual service, mat post office have one day collection you miss that your stuffed, Friday you kiss that it's Tuesday before it's collected.

Worst service royal mail, they talk about companies not having market dominance yet we have to put up with the poor post delivery,
    davezilla's avatar
Well you don’t know what you’re talking about.
    collections can rebooked.
    redeliveries organised.

going by national statistics they are almost the best company. them or DPD but no other company deals with letters so they have to do even more work.

Also most companies want to cherry pick their work. Amazon don’t even deliver in my area they just bung it to Royal Mail. It’s not affordable for them.

Been using Royal mail tracked 48 with free collection for years, never had 1 ebay item go missing.

I just done several ebay sales last 2 months and all delivered successfully but there was one hiccup with one item, it just did not update and the buyer was requesting a refund after a week but ebay told me in their automated emails I have to wait till 14th Tuesday or an X day/time before I can request a non delivered with compensation claim. Luckily some hotuk members responded to my posted query and advised me you should wait till 1 day afterwards and sure enough it turned up on the last day I could make a claim!

I think even if it was 1 loss, out of 50+ items sold last few years its still the best and cheapest service I have ever used far better then Evri/Hermes at least.
  12. bozo007's avatar
Noticed it yesterday when I booked a collection.
  13. Sedgefield's avatar
    Never gets there in 48hrs!
    herby247's avatar
    Usually 24 hrs 😃

Great price everything gone up with inflation royal mail price coming down I remember use to be £4-5 for 2kg parcel in 2015-16
  15. HXL's avatar
Definitely a good price with free collection and label.
  16. BrynDiesel's avatar
Can’t believe someone’s posting an offer to save 16p
    stingersplash's avatar
16p every time. It can add up quickly for some.
  17. Sp0oner's avatar
I wouldn't trust these robbing b******s with sending anything the number of online items i've ordered that have then been sent via this lot and never turned up and i've had to request a refund due to the item having 'gone missing' is now beyond a joke. I'm going to stop ordering with any seller that posts via royal mail as they have a serious theft problem going on.
    stingersplash's avatar
Seems to be a very local situation. Items sent Tracked can basically not be lost. Where do they go missing at exactly?
  18. M-P-S-80_'s avatar
Half the time they don't turn up to collect the items
    stingersplash's avatar
They do for me. But then I usually have deliveries too so I just hand it over then if they forget. I'd say 99/100 times they collected.
  19. erinarenauk's avatar
Not for me. I'm fed up of the amount of times tracked items either don't turn up or turn up late. I've had a few occasions where even Special Delivery have arrived a day late or after 1PM. Not interested in compensation, just want a service that delivers as promised. With Royal Mail the lottery is how good your postman is.
    davezilla's avatar
They can’t guarantee everything depending where you live and when it was sent. It Says in their terms and conditions.
my area 1pm specials don’t even apply.
  20. leevallance's avatar
Over the last month, I've been utilizing Click Drop for my purchases and opting for PayPal payments. Nevertheless, I've noticed that for each parcel, I'm charged £3.29 upfront, followed by an extra 16p charge roughly 24 hours later. My PayPal account is littered with pages of these 16p charges. It might be more financially prudent for me to take my parcels to the delivery point instead of the post office. Regardless of this matter, I am grateful for the excellent value and service that R.M. offers.
    stedaman's avatar
Are you not able to have them collected from your door for free?
  21. apfel21's avatar
Personally I have always found them very reliable for both collection and delivery, not like Evri who pretend to deliver a parcel which is never seen by the recipient and it disappears into outer space.
    freyabo's avatar
Exactly. The word I'd use for Evri, and also for DPD, is incompetence.
  22. gemvis's avatar
Still getting £4.15 first class tracked via ebay postage label.
    davezilla's avatar
And so you should. the offer isn’t for eBay.
  23. legodealsmad's avatar
50896927-CHLW4.jpgBelieve that's small only not medium, medium still north of £4.50 (edited)

16p saving if you get it collected or drop in post box
16p is recharged, if you choose post office drop off.

BUT if you want to make a claim, they WANT proof of posting, even though the tracking shows its in the postal network. So you only get that if you drop at post office......unless anyone knows otherwise?
    sfc1885's avatar
Whenever I’ve had to claim, the proof I uploaded was the confirmation email that’s sent when the postie scans the parcel upon collection. Had no issues doing this.

I went into a on post office couple days ago and they told me the no longer do 48tracked...what going on
    GimbaJAY's avatar
Who cares, go to royal mail instead
  26. Tom_BurtonAzO's avatar
Add an extra 48 hours for the mandadory 2 delivery attempts now
  27. andre199017's avatar
It's nothing new in a way. Its 16p off now if you drop it at ROYAL MAIL. If you drop 24/48 at a Post Office, they'll pass on the fee i assume they've always been paying the Post Office and you'll be charged the original price of £3.45.
    stingersplash's avatar
It's £3.45 via Ebay for small parcel collection. £3.29 on RM. Same exact service. Only positive to Ebay is not having to fill in information. Saves a few minutes.
  28. stingersplash's avatar
I noticed recently it was £3.29 on the RM site. I assumed it was for small parcels that were very light. I'm not sure the 16p saving is always worth it over just using the Ebay app.
  29. BensBricks's avatar
I find it crazy that its cheaper to have someone come collect the parcel from your house than drop it off at the post office. Usuaully with other parcel companies you pay extra for collection service.
    davezilla's avatar
It’s only free for a while.
  30. LukeThornton_'s avatar
    Been like thos for ages
  31. Shwoopdoop's avatar
Possibly cheaper than Tracked 24/48 for Royal Mail Business account customers, who pay % fuel surcharge on top of postage. (edited)
  32. FoxRaynard's avatar
Good luck when something gets delayed, you have no comeback.
I posted a pair of £90 headphones sold on eBay through Royal Mail.
They didn't arrive for 3 weeks, by which time the buyer had opened an eBay case and been successful.
eBay will refund the buyer even though Royal Mail aren't living up to their delivery schedules
    davezilla's avatar
Sounds like you didn’t handle things right on your end.

Royal Mail has a time frame then you can claim for lost items. If you’ve shipped it correctly with insurance.

ive never had an issue with them and even a lost item they fixed very simply.
  33. loopy_lew's avatar
All parcels are tracked anyway, you don't need to pay extra
    davezilla's avatar
    No they aren’t
  34. gemvis's avatar
Looks like itself to ebays postage labels now.
  35. Vawallpa's avatar
They've put up the prices of large letter 100g to £1.55 from £1.15. That's a massive increase!
