The 7800XT is looking better, and will be around 450 quid very soon. The real competition is the 6900 uncut full die vs the 7800XT (obviously you undervolt/clock the 6900 full die variant to get the power draw done to sane limits). If a 6950XT is around 480, it could be a very difficult choice.

Theoretically it should be £475 but we always pay premium here.. I highly doubt will be a decent one for £500. Powercolor Fighter and all other plastic ones £500, Sapphire Pulse £550+ and Nitro £600+
Performance somewhere between 6800xt - 6900xt not much uplift but AI accelerators may help with FSR 3

Is it worth getting this or waiting a few days for the 7800?

Its going to be £100.00 more, this will be a direct battle against 7700XT

AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT's Advantages
    More VRAM (16GB vs 12GB)
Larger VRAM bandwidth (512.0GB/s vs 432.0GB/s)
    1152 additional rendering cores

AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT's Advantages
Boost Clock has increased by 13% (2544MHz vs 2250MHz)
    Lower TDP (245W vs 300W)

And you will also have to consider another major factor:

This is a last batch of 6800XT in the market, these are the upper spec version "reduced". not ur budget versions reduced.

so when 7700XT comes, it will battle this at a little higher cost, and there will be pro/cons, but it will be a fight against the lower version of the 7700XT

because the red dragon version of the 7700XT is going to be a hell lot more then the low ball ones, so that is another factor u need to consider..

speak to alot of consumers who dont like the budget models of any series, u do need to take that into consideration too. (edited)

    Your thinking of the 6700XT.

    in the old debate it was 3060Ti -> 6700XT -> 3070...

But obvious as times advanced with the "Vram", market, this has taken 6700XT past 3070 in that debate of battles.

which the later market battle wiped the floor with 3070ti n pretty much killed it lol, then onwards to 6800 / 6800XT before we rehit 4070 debate.

Go on Tyube: "6800XT 2023" plenty of latest videos against other cards to see performance against any other deals that come up today, 4070 is £499.99 atm from ebuyer for a palit card. (edited)

Seems to have gone up £3 but I still bought it. Got 30 days from delivery to return it anyway, in case I change my mind after the 7800XT is released.

Looking to switch to 1440p, at some point. Not in a big rush. Still on a 1070, 3570k, 16gb ram.

New pc will probably be my next project. Are we still waiting on new cards to drop and the market adjust?

Is there a slightly more long-term approach to consider? See people saying to skip the latest gen cards, as the next will be a significant increase. Not sure about that. Trend seems that VFM keeps getting worse.

Interested in constructive thoughts. No fan-boy nonsense please

Depending on your budget an AM5 CPU (7600/7700 etc) would be fine and give you long term upgradability. This deal is a pretty good price but might be worth waiting until early next week for the 7800 reviews and then decide which to go for. Anything above the higher mid-range seems to be a waste of money for the average consumer especially this gen.

ooouuuweee, paid 520 for this back in April. Pretty happy with it even though I only gamed 10ish hours in total since getting it...playing Elden Ring connected to either the 4K LG C14 TV or 3440x1440 mon.

What is the min PSU I would need to run this? Would really like a 6800 as that uses less power but not seen any deals on them for a while now. Still looking for an upgrade to my trusty Nvidia 1060 6gb gaming X.

Card size might be an issue as well, using an old school Antec P180 case. Fairly sure my PSU only has 2x 6 pin power connectors as well. Just trying to weigh up costs if I would also need a new PSU and pc case.

Other option is to get the 6700xt. My monitor is a 27" 1080p g-sync Predator, but I would like to upgrade this to a 1440p monitor as some point.
