Great deal on a 16K BTU Air-conditioner. Might come useful this week

We all welcome the sun but sometimes the heat can get too much. When that happens and you need to cool down, a Luko portable air con unit is the ideal solution. With a huge cooling capacity, remote control, and being able to cover a whole room – the Luko 16,000 BTU will keep you cool even in the fiercest heat.

Suitable for homes, offices, home gyms, conservatories or any room with a mains power supply, this air con unit is fully portable so can be moved to wherever it’s needed. And, with a free window kit included, it’s an all-in-one cooling solution.

Energy Efficient

With an 'A’ Energy Rating you know you’re cooling down in the most efficient way. Great for you and great for the environment! The unit also has 3 operating modes; cool, fan and dry so you’ll always be able to select the most efficient programme without wasting energy.

Super Cooling

With a maximum air flow of 410m³ / hour of air circulated per hour means you can cool any room up to 32m². This powerful air con unit is far more effective than a rotary fan which simply pushes around warm air. With the Luko BTU 16,000 you’ll notice a huge change in temperature control. Once you’ve used this unit you’ll never go back to a traditional fan.

Ideal for any room in the home

In low fan speed the new and reduced sound pressure level of just 56dB(A) makes this an easy device to live with. It’s very quiet. And, as its portable, you can move it around thew house with you. The handy sleep mode means no more uncomfortable nights when it’s just too hot. Using the Luko 16,000 BTU reduces the relative humidity in a room which will help to remove the sticky feeling from the air during the summer months.

Or in the office

This is a great unit for ensuring your staff keep their cool under pressure! Suitable for offices and other workplace environments between 20-32m². And, with its low-noise operation, your staff won’t be disturbed while they keep cool.

Easy to use

With straightforward controls, remote control, and a manual included, this user-friendly air conditioning unit will have you cooled down and comfortable in no time. The timer controls mean you can set the device to cool the house or office before you get there and with four different modes you can choose different cooling levels for maximum efficiency.

Ventilation

The Luko BTU 16,000 includes a venting kit which extracts the warm air and ejects it from the room via the exhaust hose. This ensures ultra-effective cooling as, unlike rotary fans, the heat is not recirculated within the room.

Do these have auto-temp timers? i.e. will they stop once a certain temperature is detected?
    Sal13's avatar
Yes. When u say stop ut switches off compressor and just fan runs....then compressor kicks in again to make it cool when temperature rises. Alternatively, you can just set timer to turn off after whatever hours you set, it would then turn off completely after timer hours have elapsed.

16,000 BTU would be for a fairly big room. I had to sell a 12,500 BTU as it was too powerful for my open plan front room and kitchen. The risk with a unit that is too powerful is it cools the room down before removing all the humidity on humid days.

I have a 7000 BTU unit in a 4x5m room with high ceilings. Right now I have two computers powered up and the door open. The glue on the window shroud failed too so I just have it open. 7000 BTU is enough to maintain 24.5 degrees in here.

I expect later in the afternoon I'll have to close the door and switch it into high power mode. Oh yeah, it's currently on the low setting.

16,000 BTU is a pretty serious air conditioner, if it lives up to that. Mine was from Lidl.

Anyone actually tried it ? How loud is it ? Does it actually work ?

I've tried a few of these portable air conditioners, and they have all been absolutely rubbish . The cheapest was about 200 and the most expensive was about 600 and they were all really loud and not very good .

It's all about where you live. If you are in a modern bult flat that is made to retain heat then summer is a nightmare even if it seems to be cool outside to everyone else.

Interesting, if you are paying 600 you should definitely be getting a good one. I haven't paid more than 200 for any I've had and they've all been brilliant. As KC30 said, they're always loud because the compressor is inside the unit. If you have a split fixed unit, that'd be outside so you wouldn't hear it as much.

Maybe I'm just unlucky, and I'll try again at some point.

Can anyone suggests any reasons to go with this model over the Luko 10,000 btu model? I’m thinking for reliability? Maybe this model is produced to a better standard? Thanks in advance.

Our room is 41m2 so guessing this unit is not large enough?
    Sho_Nuff's avatar
    That's what the specifications say.
