Got one in 2020 for £100 from locals and using it now when I am typing this
Personally I think its viewing angle and contrast is fine enough to be acceptable.
At least much better than the TN gaming panel like M240HW01 V8 I am using now.
I can jokingly say it's "the best" TN monitor I ever use, but of course it's still TN lol

If you think its factory colour is awful or are going to use it for a bit professional usage, I'm happy to share my colour setting:
Contrast 75 Red 49 Green 13 Blue 15 Gamma mode 1, then you can get standard D65 white point at most brightness range, got the values with SpyderX Pro colourimeter.
DM me if you further need the full calibration profile (.icc) made by DisplayCAL/ArgyllCMS - though I guess I will get no request lol. The last calibration was done in end 2021. Time to redo.

    2015 technology!

You're right though - this was one of the first 4K monitors on the scene, it's TN so quite a big pitfall and didn't review that well when it launched.

it will apply at checkout.. its a TN panel though so check the specs

I have 3 of these. The angle thing isn't an issue, there are settings for angled viewing. What is an issue is the VESA mounts are really high, so it won't work with a standard desk pole thingy. (edited)

    Got mine working

60hz, originally launched like 7 years ago, tn panel and an amazon return. Its not looking great imo
    plewis00's avatar
Yes - one of the first mainstream 4K panels on the market!

A good price for a 4K monitor but since this is a TN panel, the picture quality isn't going to be great.

TN panel monitors notably have very poor viewing angles.

I'd suggest paying some more for a 4K IPS monitor, or consider compromising on resolution and get a 1440P IPS monitor. (edited)

And very awful colours. If you don't care then it's fine. But a uniform colour at the top will be different to the bottom....

I used to have this monitor, but I got rid of it because it’s honestly not good at all.

Not a good monitor, TN panel, washed colours

7 year old monitor with no knowledge of how much use it has had cold from me.

Why can i not see this price? It shows as £163

    Ok, it's TN panel but it's still better than a 23/24" 1080p monitor for £95/£100! At least it's 4k.
    plewis00's avatar
I'd rather have a good 1080p IPS panel than an average-reviewed 4K TN one. 24" IPS monitors can be had for £60-70 now. This Samsung is quite an old model.

Coming up at £114.56 for me.

Shame i'm not on the lookout for a monitor!

Surely angled viewing is not really a concern with a computer monitor? Seems like a good deal.
    emptypocketz's avatar
Its not a big deal imo nothing wrong with TN panels and most of the time one is looking dead on with it.

I have a TN 28" 4K panel and its perfectly fine with me viewing it straight on, TN panels also have better blacks which are important. I also have very low energy usage around 28 watts.

I have used and seen IPS panels and while the viewing angles and colours are nice, could not stand the washing out blacks.

Am going to wait for them to release QD/OLED 28-32" 4K monitors which should be coming in the next year or 2, OLED pretty much destroys anything panel wise imo.

    TN panel alert...

Turned up today. I assumed it was a customer return so it qualifies for normal 2 year warranty.
Although all the parts were in the box the screen was manufactured June 2018 over 5 and a half years ago.
Some pixels missing on display so it will be returned Monday. What a waste of time and effort
    Roygroyg's avatar
Mine just arrived - how can you tell manufacture date? The energy rating chart shows 2020 on it at one point but is the old rating system.
Unit seems immaculate but only just turned on so will check for missing pixels.

Thanks op - took a chance on condition and so far seen no evidence of use on monitor I’ve got although still checking. Monitor and stand still have cellophane wrap although not sure if they just reapply that on returns.

Was a bit worried after reading some of comments but thought I could always return and not bothered it’s been out for a while as long as gives me a good sharp picture. Only tested so far on civ 6 but big jump forward on old Polaroid tv I’d had to press into use. Damaged monitor it was replacing by accident so wasn’t keen on spending too much.

Came up as £114.56 at checkout.

I have one of these I got used a year or so back. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The colours are really poor and no matter how the settings are adjusted it just seems really washed out.
  21. Tim_Barrett1's avatar
Don't buy it. I did on a whim, doesn't come with Hdmi / DP cables, is not height adjustable, the stand sticks out a mile, the bezels are huge, but worst is the image quality. Washed out colours, clarity is very poor. No amount of adjusting made this usable for me. Have processed a return to send back.
    Roygroyg's avatar
One I got has hdmi and dp cables unopened and looking unused. Usual luck of draw on warehouse purchases. Unit has no sign of use and cellophane wrap on bezels (they are big compared to newer damaged monitor this is replacing) and round back and yet to see a mark on it.

Still testing out screen on a few different uses to see if happy enough to keep but found picture ok so far using Xbox Series S. poor viewing angle as expected on VA made worse by tilt on stand being up only.
