I got this exact machine on the last similar deal, decent but you can't seem to make a large up of coffee without using a double pod, there doesn't seem to be a way to change the dispense amount which is problematic
    jordanc93's avatar
A quick read of the user manual on page 14 would have solved this problem for you. All you have to do is put the capsule in and say you want to adjust the drink volume for a lungo you just hold the lungo button down for 4 seconds until it starts flashing quickly and then release the button, it will starting brewing the coffee and you then just press the lungo button again once you have reached the desired volume and it remembers.

Great price, when my original Nespresso machine broke it took me months to find a deal on a replacement , eventually got mine on prime day for £49 with a further £15 off with another prime offer, didn't include the pods though.

If you want a machine compatible for the Nespresso original go for it as you'll be hard pressed to find something cheaper than this!

Also, if you have vitality rewards you can get a free box of pods every week from Caffè Nero instead of taking a drink
    zofg13's avatar
Wow. I didn't know about the vitality rewards, all this time I've been using it on one coffee.

How many caffe nero pods do you get? And how you find their coffee?

I don’t know much about the new Nespresso machines but would I be right in assuming the original pods will be phased out in the near future, therefore making this style of machine redundant?
    Sid.Harper's avatar
The whole reason they launched a new design was to get patent coverage so nobody can do compatibles. In the original that ran out so they can’t rip you off. No way I’m moving to the new capsules - I just repaired my 4 yo U machine.

For milk codes the Amazon cheaper ones are fine. I grab all streets for espressos Starbucks from discount dragon are good as are L’Or when on offer.
  4. nllinux's avatar
can you get compatible pods for this, what do I google?
    TommyGambino's avatar
Yes. I use Colombian Lidl pods, they work fine.

Is the coffee content in a pod and a 100 grams bottle jar(soluble instant coffee) same? (edited)
    Chuggee's avatar
No, the pod contains ground coffee which needs to either be extracted under pressure (as Espresso, which this is) or filtered (using a coffee filter and pouring water over the grounds).
  6. Chuggee's avatar
Doesn't come with the milk frother unfortunately.
    myself321's avatar

Personally not a fan of the milk frothers, don't get the milk hot enough, I use a French press and microwave

Got one of these the last time it was on offer with 150 capsules. Great machine, well built, smashes out Nespresso shot exactly as expected. 🏻

Garbage this thing, mine died within two months
    LovelybitofsquirrelJackie's avatar
    Use the warranty then?
  10. gmerchant's avatar
    Mine arrived today, thanks op
Any suggestions for a frother pls? Which one is better a handheld that just froths cold milk or one that heats and froths? Newbie to the coffee world here 😁
    highdon's avatar
One that heats up and froths the milk. Unless you want to heat it up in the microwave or pan and then froth it. You don't want cold froth on your coffee.

Nespresso frothers are the probably the best but they are quite pricey.

UPDATE: Package has finally arrived, I was shocked and a little disturbed as the refund has been actioned.
No need as the idiots at JDE have sent 25 boxes of tassimo pods. (annoyed).

Anyone had issues with Amazon shipping. Parcel has gone back to depot three times. Was meant to be delivered yesterday, third time back was this morning at 3am .

    7 times now.

I know no-one is that interested but I need to rant.

Several emails regarding tracking, penultimate one yesterday saying delivery between 5.45-9.45 last night. Tracking updated at 10.24pm to say returned to facility.
Final email this morning saying 'couldn't deliver contact sender' (obviously it's damaged, not sure why this wasn't noted on the first return ).

Just contacted JDE who have issued a refund which will take 7-10 days, I said I want the machine not a refund. Was told I can 'go online and re-order'. 😡.

IMO a dreadful service from both companies so I'm out.

Anyone want some pods that you put your own coffee in.....should be here soon as ordered through a decent company (temu ) using a decent delivery company (evri ). (edited)

what size glasses do people use with these machines? i'd want to use it to make americano style drinks as i wouldn't drink espresso straight. plus an espresso shot is thimble size
    myself321's avatar
    Author
Once shot is poured press the button again once the light goes out it will pull the same amount of water through again, obviously this will be weaker than the first shot, if you want to stop it mid pour ,press button again

With original Nespresso pod machines becoming more difficult to find and expensive when you do this machine would appear to be the way to go.
    SmithyJohnny's avatar
I'm new to this coffee. Do you mind explaining why this machine would be better than a Nespresso machine. Thanks
  14. TacoS's avatar
On average, Nespresso pods cost about £2.5 per 10pods (either supermarket branded or proper branded stuff on sale in store). So by getting this deal you are basically getting the machine for 20 quid ish which is very good given the original Nespresso machines are way more expensive.

However, I do tend to use 2 regular sized pods per cup of coffee 🫤 (edited)
    jordanc93's avatar
Depends where you buy them Lidl do lungo pods in packs of 20 for £2.69
  15. TimmyH's avatar
Good bargain if it arrives. They used Evri to deliver mine and it ended up at a house 100 yards away and on the other side of the street. They sent me a picture showing it in a doorway with someone else's legs behind it.

    Thanks OP.

My Krups / Nespresso machine has just died so this looks like a great replacement.
    JDUK2020's avatar
My Inissia was ancient so I got a used acceptable Inissia (arrived brand new) from Amazon Germany as a replacement in July. It was on a Warehouse deal. Registered the warranty too.
However this would probably have been a better deaL. More versatile with new larger pod size also. Will invest in one in due course.

New email, clearly struggling a bit
As long as it arrives I'll be happy.

I've had an original Nespresso machine for close to 20 years. (More than one machine)

I needed a new machine at the end of last year and Nespresso had stopped offering any promotions on their original line. They are pushing the Vertuo line now.

Personally I think the Vertuo coffee is vastly inferior to the original line coffee.

I bought one of these machines and I couldn't be happier with it. It works fine with any aluminium pods I have used. I have had some issues with cheaper plastic pods. These are shorter than the aluminum pods and sometimes they don't engage properly. You just get water out of the machine instead of coffee. Normally they are fine if you try the pod again but sometimes it can take 3-4 goes. I only have this issue with the cheaper plastic pods.

Bought. Great deal. I have a bean to cup coffee machine, but this is a great price for the amount of capsules you get. Also more cheap capsules once you buy and register your device.

I've got a Tassimo machine i don't really use because of the disc cost. more options available for this with it taking different brand pods. tempted given you get 150 pods with the machine. anyone have one?

Yes brilliant, and you can got a good basic coffee pod for about 10 pence , see my link in the thread

Bought this last time to replace my aging Krups machine

    Only downsides for me:
Delivered in a super flimsy box which got ripped in transit / the packaging of the machine got a bit battered and torn. Chose to accept delivery all the same.
Missing a few boxes of pods which were out of stock when posted - no mention of it anywhere but thankfully I checked the packing slip on delivery and had to chase them for a refund.
The drip tray / capsule collector on the front of the machine is pure trash and you can't tell if it needs emptying until you've crumpled a pod!
Didn't like any of the pods

For £59 though it's still a bargain if you want a Nespresso compatible machine
    JDUK2020's avatar
Thanks for the info. Not exactly reassuring both regarding delivery and quality of machine. Hopefully there is a Mk2 version in the pipeline.
I stopped ordering pods for one of my other machines, a Tassimo MyWay. Buying direct you get 16 pods but they use an appalling delivery service and my last order was "lost in transit".
I buy most of my pods (Nespresso, Dolce Gusto, Lavazza etc) from Amazon who havnt let me down yet. Always deals to be had too.

can anyone recommend a deal like this that will do latte cappuccino style instant drinks ? thanks
    HyoukDrot's avatar
You need a ‘tassimo’ machine if you just want it all done for you (they come with coffee and ‘milk’ capsules to make latte/ capp straight from single machine) - if you can be bothered to make your own hot milk then this machine or others that’s just make coffee is fine. (edited)
  30. cwhincup's avatar
    I've got this and it's a great product/ deal!
  31. john.moore46ntl's avatar
Use Discount Dragon for the pods. Usually have an offer on some main stream brands Star Bucks Coista etc which work out at about 10 pence per pod. This machine is a good deal.
  32. lmulli's avatar
Go on then, why not! See how it compares to the Dual Boiler! (hoping the variety of capsules will keep me entertained with it for a while!)

I find there's nothing easier than grinding beans in a burr grinder and brewing in an aeropress for making a good cup of coffee efficiently with little mess to clean up; and there's no environmental waste from pods and stuff.

The water round here is quite hard, and a pod machine gets furred up and needs descaling, it's a pain in the a**e.
    blazons's avatar
'nothing easier' is pushing it a tad.
