Ive been looking at getting a sage bambino + grinder, someone convince me that buying this and saving hundreds is a good idea?
    fishmaster's avatar
I use an Aeropress with ground Coffee. If I wanted too I could get a grinder and grind the Coffee, but I can just go to local specialist Coffee place near me and they will grind it how I want. So when I buy the Coffee it is ground and bagged just right for how I like it in my Aeropress. It really depends how much of a hobby you want to make Coffee. Aeropress gets me 99.9% of the way there, if I wanted espresso I could kind of do that with an Aeropress but then I would get a Cafflano Kompresso which is like an Aeropress but for Espresso making.

Hobby = enjoyment learning and becoming proficient at something you are interested in. It can also and often equals expensive and very often = over-engineered.

So really ask yourself how expensive and over-engineered do you want your hobby to become?

I like Yerba Mate (very popular South American Caffeinated plant, not at all like Coffee or Tea), I could make it the traditional way but I've found it works in an Aeropress, so yeah people will hate on that because it's not at all traditional method of brewing but I get the result I want.

Aeropress + Cafflano Kompresso covers everything I need from Coffee but that's just how I like to make Coffee. I could add a grinder but I am lazy, exceptionally lazy which means I find ways to make that work for me. I have been into anything and everything, from legal to illegal things and I can tell you from my experience, don't go all in expensive. Try out the workable cheaper options see how they work for you. (edited)

Not for cappucino lovers - no steam wand on this one.

just buy a frother for a tenner on amazon

Great machine this, for making a basic faux-espresso (in that it's using a pressurised portafilter). Great for a quick, no effort but decent shot of coffee. Knocked out three iced coffees today in quick succession, which would have taken a good while on my 'proper' espresso machine. (edited)
    mattd555's avatar
    aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa pressurised portafilter

How are people getting on with the cheaper one from a couple of weeks ago?
    craig816's avatar
Really happy with mine. Great espresso compared with Nespresso and Virtuo and just as easy to use. Time will tell how reliable it will be though!
  7. Aitch8's avatar
Just had mine delivered and made my first shot. Functions are a bit confusing as I thought the two options would have been single shot or double but they’re actually strong espresso or mild espresso which can be adjusted I believe
    Pokey's avatar
Yeah those functions are pointless and designed to appeal to users who don't know anything about espresso. If you want a double espresso you need to run it twice. You basically have two options for how extracted you want your dose to be. It doesn't affect strength of either taste or 'hit'. Changing the dose would have meant there being a way to switch filter baskets, which would have meant additional cost.

In general, are people happy with their machines? Any regrets/issues?

I have a couple of days left before my 14-day window closes to request a return if unwanted. Was hoping to have given it more research (I had wanted the £84 brown one with steam wand - who didn't, right?) to see if £114 was worth it for this machine. I know it's considerably cheaper than nearly every other brand new b2c machine at this price, but I'd not be unhappy with a cheap second hand one.

Very happy with it, replaced my aging DeLonghi Eletta with it. I was one of the lucky few who ordered three of those brown ones for myself and my two friends. All three of us love them - coming from Eletta, Nespresso Original Line and drip coffee.

Probably not worth the risk after the last Beko deal being cancelled. It took a week to be refunded, it doesn't help when people order more than 1 to resell
  10. joebrett2010's avatar
just ordered my second one for my son
i got the brown mega deal £90 one last week so impressed with it i orders another for £114 a right bargain (edited)
    Jazzster's avatar
Sooo glad I did the same. So easy to use and setup. With steamer. Easy clean.
  11. sandra51's avatar
I rang them at about 3.30pm as I had not got anything since the initial email confirming my order on Friday.

I was told that it was definitely going through and that if I did not get an email from FedEx today then I should get one tomorrow.

So hopefully we should be getting our orders tomorrow or by Wednesday.

I was annoyed to see that a seller called bargaincrazy99 has sold 4 of the brown ones that were on offer a couple of weeks back on eBay for around £160. Greedy people like deny the genuine ordinary people from getting a bargain. I hope the taxman gets him or her.

    The link for the machine:

Edit: It's a great machine, I've switched from my workhorse DeLonghi Eletta - love the small footprint and the coffee is pretty much on par with it. Smaller footprint means need to fill up water more often, and empty out the tray more often - but worth it for saving on real estate in the kitchen. (edited)

Reviews seem pretty bad on Beko machines. Luke warm espresso.

Probably a one off bad machine
Very rarely any machine gives off like warm espresso...otherwise it would not be a nice espresso.
  17. avalonsunset's avatar
How does this compare to the CEG5311- the brown one on that mega deal for under £90 ?
    Fadd_Lo_Lun_Mera's avatar
Same kit without frother. All of their machines have same parts except different exterior and some fancy buttons. (edited)
  18. JohnnyCockles's avatar
This thing boasts of having 19 bars of pressure classic espresso only needs 9.
I had a sage that had 15 bar, that was tricky to master, hate to think how bad this would be, water will just fire through the puck like a laser giving over extraction.
    777jrg_'s avatar
    Lol ok
  19. lewiscooksey's avatar
After missing out on the last deal (order was cancelled by Beko) I used the discount code to pick up the CEG5311X in silver for £169.

I must say the unit is fantastic, and if the milk frother isn’t something you need, this is well worth it. Don’t listen to the haters, if you like coffee (I’m not a coffee snob) but I know the coffee doesn’t taste bitter, washed out, and has a nice crème on the top. (edited)

Have you seen the comment from below? I will also tag you in a reply there. It seems like you've overpaid by about £62, see if they can refund the difference for you!
  20. pukenukem's avatar
According to which? this gets 78%. Generally a great machine, only negatives are that it can't milk frothing and it's not the most energy efficient.

For me this is a great deal, heat from me.
  21. barbiegirl's avatar
Thanks OP. At £114 I couldn't resist. I reckon the saving vs Nespresso capsules means it could pay for itself quite quickly and I bet the espresso is better too.
    pukenukem's avatar
It will be, assuming that you're referring to Vertuo Nespresso , not original where you can buy inexpensive 3rd party pods. We moved to a bean to cup from Nespresso vertuo, different machine to this one, but the taste is significantly better than Nespresso pods. Depends on the pods you buy but you're talking 60p a cup compared to this will will be anything from 10-25p depending on beans you use.
  22. etcuk's avatar
Have the older version, it’s good as long as you keep it clean and descale it when it needs it, a cheap aerocinno or milk frother and you are away
  23. ChrisBargainHunt's avatar
I had ordered the £89 brown version that was posted on hotukdeals but like other people on here the order was cancelled. However a few days ago Beko emailed to me a 30% discount code so i ordered the stainless steel version for £107. It arrived next day. I have tested it and very pleased as easy to use and it self-cleans. Therefore those who had orders cancelled, check your emails for 30% discount code. (edited)
    omza's avatar
    I hope this helps.

Also, Chris, is this before they raised the price of the stainless steel version?
And what was the price before the 30% code? As it looks like it's £234 now, so would only get to ~£164 with 30% off. And was the code one-time use or was it generic? (edited)
  24. BrianButterfield's avatar
If this is like the other one then they keep your money for 10 days and refund you.
  25. ohmygod's avatar
I need to replace my old baby Gaggia and a broken krupps grinder - don’t want any crap and Beko brand doesn’t convince me - I mainly drink espresso or flat white with milk warmed in microwave prior. Would never buy ground coffee as it loses taste very quickly.
  26. G.cos's avatar
Fishing your data and money, after you order they cancel and refund your money in 10 working days, happened to me when I ordered for a coffee machine, very poor customer service also

Bit concerned lots of you have had the order cancelled on the brown one, i have only had the email saying the order was going through, not had anything else
  29. mrArcher's avatar
Thanks, was looking to get the chrome version from Amazon earlier in the week before price went back up, but even happier with the black version for this price. Hope order does not get cancelled.

Has anyone had a confirmation email yet? I ordered on Friday but not heard anything and I’ve run out of pods for my Tassimo

Nothing yet, although I ordered late Saturday. They have taken the money though.

Ordered Saturday 9th. Email said delivery 12th. Got email from Fedex 12th. Tracking details at Fedex are blank. Still nothing received.
    sandra51's avatar
Mine was supposed to be delivered between 8.10am and 12.10pm but the tracking info still shows it is on its way since 8.14pm last night at Newcastle.

I used the webchat bot but got nowhere until I got an actual person on the webchat and he said:

I am very sorry after checking my systems, I can see that the goods have been delayed at leaving our sortation hub to travel to our delivery depot for delivery. Your shipment will travel to our delivery depot overnight tonight ready to be delivered to you on 14/9/23 between 8am and 6pm. Your estimated delivery time for delivery is 08:10am to 12:10pm.
I am sorry for the delay and inconvenience caused Sandra

I am annoyed that it doesn't update on their site, and that as I had to go out for an appointment, I checked my neighbour was home and put a note on my door to deliver it to her.
  35. mrArcher's avatar
Ordered my Saturday morning FedEx just delivered it today, got an email last night saying it was scheduled for delivery today
  36. StormHoll's avatar
Got mine yesterday, very confused by a section in the manual though. It specifically states "WARNING: Never do the grinding adjustment when the grinder is not operating. It maydamage the grinder", however the how-to guide says "Never adjust the coffee grinder while the grinder is operation as this can result in damage to the appliance.", total opposite. I called them up and they said there's an error on the website, so I should follow the manual, I did so and it seems fine. (edited)
  37. twe's avatar
Got mine too. How are people finding it so far? I am finishing my Nespresso pods before I open it.
