The new PICO 4 brings a brighter screen and 4K+ resolution, 35% higher than typical 4K. More detailed image is delivered through the 1,200 PPI screen and more vivid and immersive colours are possible thanks to the 85% saturation rate. 360 degree surrounding stereo speakers, supports 3D spatial effects, audio lower to 200Hz.

A 90Hz refresh rate and lower latency overcomes the feelings of motion sickness. PICO 4 also gives an improved motion tracking performance delivering a more accurate, low-latency tracking experience.

The PICO Store offers over 250 games (with new releases each week), apps and sports (with the Fitness App that includes a calories counter and performance tracker) to live video performances (concerts, music festivals) and exclusive releases. Plus, wirelessly stream more than 4000 titles when connected to your PC VR library.

Is this like the new Apple Vision Pro?

Completely different in terms of use.

The Pico is much more varied and aims to a gaming audience.
The apple vr is suppose to be for 'daily life'?

Here. You can read more on this site 😄:

Moved from an Oculus Quest 2 to one of these and it's a decent upgrade. Really good for the price.

Are the same games available for both and all? Not sure how these work tbh. Is this Pico 4 still better than the upcoming Quest 3?

I can vouch for the PICO 4. It has (almost) all the upgrades of the Quest 3 without the eye-watering price tag.

PCVR works really well wirelessly (with Virtual Desktop app) , but your PC needs a solid wired connection to your network hub.

Works with my back catalogue of Oculus PCVR games and also everything in Steam VR. If it's in Steam VR, you can play it.

Standalone titles wise, there may be some which you might not find e.g. beat sabre - but again you can get this on Steam VR.

I've sunk nearly 200 hrs into No Mans Sky VR - it's truly amazing.

I'm wondering if we can say by now that personal VR is one of the biggest tech flops of the last 25 years?

Good price though if it meets your niche needs

Don't think there is a way to plug any head phones into this pico but could be wrong, but for me as i have a oculus quest 1 i'm waiting for quest 3, should be hitting the shops very very soon.

I'm a bit of a technophobe... Does this work with Roblox?

Very good headset but limited number of games available. Comfortable to use, pancake lens brilliant and they look great. Accessories are relatively cheap on Aliexpress. Bought to use as PC VR but for demanding games such as flight sims, you need a very high spec graphicis card eg 4080/4090

Tempted, given the reviews say the FOV is better than my Quest 2. However, will wait for Quest 3 reviews. Pico 4 might even be cheaper by then.

I've been looking at the Pico 4 and thats a very tempting price.
I'm also torn between the pico 4 or psvr2. I like both formats! grrr. (my pc is an i7 9700 , 32gb ram and a gtx 1650 super gfx card) (edited)

Wanting to get my son a vr headset for xmas. Is this good? Hes 10 and doesn't have a gaming pc so can these be used without that. I was initially thinking to get a quest 2. Which one is best. Thanks for any advice

PICO 4 has slightly better hardware than the Quest 2, but Oculus/Meta's software library is far far larger.
To bring some numbers to that statement; the Steam hardware survey puts the Quest 2 at 42% market share, whereas the PICO4 sits at 2%.

If you're going to be using it exclusively for stand-alone, I'd strongly recommend holding out for the Quest 3 release. (either to go for the more expensive Quest 3, or grab a clearance bargain on a Quest 2).
There's also rumours of a 'Quest 3 Lite' which will likely target the same 'budget' market segment as the Quest 2.

It should be mentioned that 10 years old is too young for VR; 13+ is the recommended minimum.

The 'not true' reply was in response to VR headsets causing 'square' eyes because the screen in 1-2 inches away.

If the focal point is 2m away, then it's no worse than watching TV or working on a PC.

Useful to know that marginal short sightedness can do without prescription lenses! (edited)

Never really got into VR headsets so for a change I'm asking a question instead of answering one, lol.
I just want one for watching TV/films on, would this be good or are there cheaper options that would do the job just as well?

I suppose there's always a chance I'll use it for gaming in the future but it wouldn't be the primary use.

I would never watch a 2D movie in VR; headsets aren't that seamless of an experience yet.

3D movies, the one situation where a VR headset can actually add value to the movie experience, has been made supremely tedious by the movie industry.
Be prepared to re-encode all your Blu-rays into an SBS format before you can watch them on *any* headset.
