I've driven Kias for 7 years. My 2nd Kia, a Sportage had the engine failure light come at 23 months old. I've been told my car will be in for repair for at least 12 months due to a significant fault in many of their diesel cars. Kia do not have the capacity to fix the cars quickly and it has had an impact on all of their service / repair schedules. I used to be able to get an appointment with 1-2 weeks, now it's 3-4 months at least.

To have a courtesy car released, they need to diagnose your car. My local Kia dealers (4 of them) couldn't see me for 12-14 weeks due to the number of vehicles that need fixing. That was 12-14 weeks without a car that we were paying for.

I eventually got a rental car but it took a lot of fighting and stress. I used to recommend Kia but never again. They are sitting on a PR disaster and look to be doing sweet FA to fix it. (edited)

Correct, check the KIA U.K. forums, I have a 1.6crdi Ceed sitting in my local dealers yard at the moment for the last 10 weeks (there were 4 blown engines before mine) and they haven’t even lifted the bonnet…KIA will not authorise a repair or a loan car until the problem has been identified as a warranty case…bit of a catch 22.

but here’s the rub, KIA are turning down a lot of warranty claims at the moment based on irregular or “incorrect” servicing (the smallest loophole they can find) and if that’s on record on the KIA system….why are local dealers sitting on cars for 2 to 3 months before doing anything… HERE’S THE ANSWER THEY DON’T WANT TO TELL YOU….
After 3 months without any car…you’re desperate…then they tell you KIA won’t cover the repair cost, but they can get you back on the road “at a cost” usually at exorbitant KIA prices, when if you were aware 3 months ago…you’d have gone to your local independent garage and paid half the price…after all, you’ve no warranty now that needs maintained…so a win win for the dealer…you’ve been shafted and been stuck without a car for 3 months now.

Had a ceed 4 tech since 2016, and never let me down at all. Reluctant to change, but, I can certainly say it's a great brand of car, and wouldn't hesitate to buy another. Great price for a new 🚗
    Codify's avatar
This "2" trim is a significant downgrade on your 4 tech though. Lots of basic features missing
  3. MRGRINGO's avatar
Is the picture shown the actual model of the car?
    ChrissyB's avatar
No. The picture is of the top spec 'GT Line' trim.

This offer is the standard '2' model.

    This is one for sale online now;

Well that picture isn’t very misleading

In this day and age, this seems like a really great price for a really great car
    reckoning's avatar
But that's not even the car you're getting?
  6. no_Sunshine's avatar
Why is the MPG so rubbish? New cars mostly do 65+ mpg?
  7. cullies's avatar
I presume this is a petrol?
    droitwichdosser's avatar
    Correct...

I always have to do a double take when i see i see the D in "GDi"

Do not know why on earth do you want these days manual gear box ?
New car for 20 k with manual gear box
Maybe then need to have manual windscreens and manual lights and tape stereo
after so many year driving manual gear box and later drive automatic give my self question why on earth i did not sped extra to have automatic before (edited)

Imagine having a personal preference for how you drive
  9. Dinnie's avatar
Would you’d be better off buying it second hand at 2 years old for say £12-14k and benefit of the remaining 5 years warranty?
    ezzer72's avatar
    The cheapest 2 year old ones in the country are £14000-£15000, and have the lesser 1.0 engine in them;

A great car if you don't like cars, wear grey cardigans or both.

Cant imagine anything more depressing than owning one of there

    Cool story.

20k for a KIA and it's a deal??? Please, where is my mother??!!! And to make things worse, it's a petrol...
I'm happily cruising with my 2016 Audi A3 diesel. Getting 50 ~ 60 mpg to the tank.
    fishmaster's avatar
Well done, although when is a 2016 Audi a new car? Also isn't the windscreen too big on that car for you?
  12. crack_shot's avatar
great car. 7 year warranty. imagine if bmw offered that standard, they would go out of business
    shkapars's avatar
There are to many caveats in that 7 year warranty, and in my opinion the main purpuse is solely for advertisement.
  13. Joe90_guy's avatar
Will this deal succeed or does the Ceed suck?

A great car, if you want something void of any excitement that gets you from A to B.

As exciting as the boring Golf that's had the same boxy shapeless flat panels for 10+ years tbh

Funny how what badge is on the car defines whether the design is exciting or not isn't it

I thought this was a great deal but having read about the shocking Kia customer service, think it's better to look elsewhere (edited)

I'm considering a petrol for my next car but coming from an EV I've got a few questions. Is it possible to get a fueling point at home or do you always have to use an expensive public one? Also is it true that they take a long time to warm up in the winter? I've also heard that if you get stuck in traffic they keep using fuel until they run out and then you have to be recovered?
Finally I've also heard they catch fire all the time and the engine and gearbox have to be replaced every 5 years, is this also true?
    Dacra's avatar
    All true. Stay away.

I'm very happy with my 2012 Ceed SW Ecodynamics. Been a very practical and economical car during the six years I've owned it.

    Heat, manual.

I had the Kia ceed for a few months. It's pretty quick and spacious. Really liked it actually

I looked at these recently as an upgrade from a Focus for my wife. Really nice car and a big benefit of 7 year warranty.
    onitslastlegs's avatar
I'm not sure it would be an upgrade from a Focus, apart from the warranty.

Got an xceed as a hire car in Spain. Very easy to drive especially on the motor way. Kia will be top of the prospective list , if I ever get a car again.

i got a Hyundai i30 on the scrappage scheme in 2009. 73k miles driven and its not skipped a beat. It was the 1.4 es.
    harrythefish's avatar
Ditto to '09 petrol i30, but the service and support issues mentioned above would make me hesitate about Hyundai/Kia now. A 2 or 3 year warranty sounds inferior but means servicing can go independent quite quickly. Thinking used petrol Toyota Corolla or Mazda 3 as next car when needs must. My low annual mileage means fuel consumption is totally irrelevant. (edited)

With all the warranty waiting list horror stories just buy a 7 year old that's had everything finally done 😄

Bought a Kia Rio 2 auto brand new for £16k last year. Lead time was long (they said 5 months and it ended up being 10). Rio has been discountinued but this car is the equivalent (slightly bigger).

Very happy with the purchase. Had good tech e.g wireless android audio, rear camera (which I'm surprised to see being a very premium feature on other cars at a much higher price point that we are looking at for my partner!)

Warranty is also a big plus!

Have a Proceed with the same engine on order on a lease deal, so just following for any comments!
  28. aturner123's avatar
The 7 year warranty is really good for Kia
  29. GlitchFace's avatar
For that money get a delivery miles EV on octopus, you will be paying a fraction of the running costs.

This deal does not appear to be any better than going through the KIA website. KA are giving a £2000 deposit contribution on the PCP deal. Go the KIA website and put in the same details I think it works out about £5 a month cheaper,

I have this engine (non turbo) in my Kia Sportage (2019)... it's very slow in the Kia but consistent.. so does not matter if you have 4 people or just you as the driver, it drives like it drives, no additional slow down but no additional speed up gains either...

In the ceed which is way way lighter, it should be quite fast (edited)
    daemon1275's avatar
Are you sure its the same engine? Any petrol 2019 Sportage on A/T is showing as a 1.6

There are then two variants - the 1.6GDI with 130BHP (which would definitely feel underpowered in that size of car) and a 1.6T GDI which was Turbo'd and has 176BHP.

    This is a 1.5T with 158BHP.
