No, you're not wrong as such. Around £12 - £13 /tb was where I was buying drives a while back.
However, those prices are for external drives which you can shuck. For certified enterprise drives with a big warranty, you'll be paying more. So this is good.
Also, I believe prices have generally gone up. I've noticed each 'Prime Day' that the prices on drives aren't quite as good as the previous year.- Overpriced at over £15/TB. A good deal is £13/TB.
For shuckers sure, but £14-16 is pretty much bang on for drives like these. 
Are these any better than these :Toshiba drives

No. Toshiba is of much higher manufacturing quality. Their old cheaper P300 drives are better than anything WD has ever made. Seagate are still the worst, though. They were many years ago, and they are today, still. (edited)

And they always pay out. WD are the best in paying out CB. Last year I got the 18TB My book drives at £185 each. I got 8 of those and after cashback it cost me £165 each. £9 per TB! (edited)
I always keep thinking I should upgrade to these and a better NAS than the WD Myhome EX + Alpha Tournament Edition that I currently have. Then I wonder how many months of different streaming services I could get for £1000 instead of "storing" movies and tv shows.You mean the Ultra Super WD my home EX + alpha ultimate tournament edition

Used to have WD reds in my microserver in the living room and it was whisper quiet. Eventually switched to a shucked WD white and it's been much noisier.
Wd reds may be expensive per TB, but they're the quietest drives around. Voted hot.
I have two WD Golds, if I get two of these and combine the 4 in raid 0, will there be any performance or compatibility issues?In a NAS? Not a problem.- None of these drives are as reliable as they were ten years ago. WD Reds are not the Red you used to buy.
My old Toshiba P300 drives have never skipped a beat, and they're over ten years old.
That being said, I would never pay more than £50 for mechanical storage these days. Not even if they were this size capacity.
Yes. I wouldn't pay 50 quid for 16TB.Your loss, most data doesn't need Ssd speeds. Probably right about hard drive quality decline though.

If you need a big upgrade, then this is really worth considering.- I have two of these drives but still can't decide on the best system to put them in. My use case: Back up photos and videos from 10 different users in the same household. Currently I have 2 x 12TB external hard drives that are nearing capacity. Please advise.Why not go up to a four drive system and retain your existing huge drives?

- I need to add a storage solution to the house so me and my family members can back up our data from our mobile phones (ideally with an app) directly from the phone, and from our camcorders or action cameras. What would be the best solution? Currently I've been using external hard drives and have exceeded the 16TB mark. Need it to be local and fault tolerant. Only privately accessibly via the internet.
With many comments suggesting mechanical drives and NAS solutions may not be the way to go anymore, what would you guys suggest? I was originally thinking of getting the Synology 923+ and four of the Toshiba drives mentioned in the comments. (edited)
