    For those wondering about range:

WLTP - Pure Electric Range (miles) - City: 360

WLTP - Pure Electric Range (miles) - Comb: 281

The EV database real world figures are between 160 and 330 miles with an average of 225 miles:

After 7 years of "fast charging" the battery, good luck trying to sell the car.
    Ega_Hacass's avatar
There was study done collecting all the info from people who fast charge almost exclusively and people who home charge. In long run showed almost no difference for battery degradation

I test drove one of these a few weeks ago as I was in the market for a replacement for my 15 year old Mondeo. I like the way they drive, its very nippy but absolutly hated the lack of centre console between the front seats, it just doesn't appeal to me that massive void. Boot space as already mentioned is a bit lacking too.

In the end, I've saved myself £15K by buying a Jaguar XE (2016) which is much nicer and I can put some of the saved £15k towards its slightly higher running costs and servicing which I think is worth it for a real car (edited)

I drove about 200 miles in one of these today and it cost me about £4!

FYI the car in the OP image is the TROPHY variant with 18" wheels/hubcaps. The SE wheels look like this -

Also that above car is £1K cheaper on AutoTrader if you can get it on affinity scheme (or just haggle)

Expect MG to be dumping a lot more of their EV cars into the UK as the EU undertake an anti-subsidy probe.

Bit of noob here, is the 150kW the capacity, and the 64kWh the maximum recharge speed? As I've had some experience of a small Peugeot that had a recharger speed of 7kWh, it took approx 24hrs to charge, and did approx 2/5 of the range it claimed to have in it. It was very cold -5°c over night and 0°c during the day, so with heaters, lights, radio and sat nav on, plus the heater to keep the batteries warm, it ended up being the worst journey I've ever had. Would this be much better?
    jhw's avatar
It's the other way round - the 64kWh is the capacity - and the 150kW is the maximum recharge speed. So at 150kW it would take 64/150 hours to charge fully, or 0.43 hour (26 minutes). But in charging there's a 10-15% loss, so a full charge would probably take around 30 minutes in ideal conditions - but I think the charging slows down after 80% and if it's cold it takes longer.

Same deal six months ago now £305 more expensive stick with my Mercedes for quality reliability and endurance.Price needs to go down not up!
    gg1pl's avatar
Mercedes is in the bottom 1/3 of reliability tables like the other German brands, it's not the 80s anymore

Reliability tables are dominated by SE Asian manufacturers

Just bought myself a used (but 1k miles, basically brand new) 2021 MG5 61kWh Exclusive and I absolutely love it! Would've had a MG4 but couldn't justify the price difference. I'll look forward to the EV/Chinese manufacture neysayer comments.
  12. greatcapp's avatar
Cracking price that. I'd be all over that if I wasn't looking towards the X Power. Heat from me.
    fishmaster's avatar
The X Power is almost a no brainer if you want the highest spec of the normal car the X Power is only a few thousand more and it has the highest spec as standard.
  13. MikeyS's avatar
Close to the price where it makes sense to buy one, heat 👌
    SpeedbirdB777's avatar
You can get a Tesla on 0% Apr which makes it cheaper than a lot of the lower priced competition if getting it on a PCP
  14. ChrisX's avatar
Prices are expected to drop due to the disagreements between China & Europe, compounded by the fact that the zero emission dictate is being delayed by the PM. There are already better deals to be found autotrader.co.uk/car…sra

It just looks like every other modern car - far and ugly. You need a step ladder to get into the damn things and none of you appear to be able to drive or park the things.
    iainl7's avatar
Wow, just how short are you? I get into mine by sitting down into it.
  16. Smartcookie's avatar
It would be really interesting to see what prices BYD comes up with. I think personally they will destroy the current electric car market. Their technology seems miles better than what's around. Build quality and everything else is still unknown obviously.
    Ahmad_Mohamad's avatar
Byd is selling at a much higher price point. So it won’t compete
  17. N1Andy's avatar
Hang on - is this Trophy version or SE? You have it in the description as both?

If it's the SE, then the Trophy version was available recently for not too much more and has a lot of extra spec.
    001Cisco's avatar
    SE long range

What does the 150kw mean, I'm guessing 64kwh is the battery size? Asking for my nan
    Uns's avatar
150kW is the power, equivalent to 201 horsepower.

64kWh is the size of the battery.

I have a MG HS…although it’s a lot of car for cheap price, it has a tonne of negatives that let the brand down. The info system is slow, laggy and frequently crashes! The a/c is and it’s a thirsty car
    Leo_Michael's avatar
I have mg3 2018 car. It's thirsty like yours.... and not very fast. Annoying to me that there's no camera or beeps when reversing close to a wall or post....kinda regret buying it now. But I'll keep it for a bit longer till I've paid off the finance
  20. kev_the_great's avatar
You can buy a low mileage, perfect condition, base trim used Jaguar IPace for this cash, which is still one of the best EVs around. As long as relatively low mileage and the battery has a decent warranty left, buying a used EV is so much better than new, surely!
    piggymou's avatar
Some like buying 2nd hand, others like new.

Decent deal - although IMO the metallic paints are the worst colours on this car. Free white or blue look good, the nice red and orange are tricoat (and cost more), the metallics are boring black and grey.
    Chuck.Norris's avatar
I have the 'boring' Grey and would say you're quite wrong..
The orange is nice but at the risk of looking like a boy racer in a Focus ST.

The red is very nice though. 51029426-hcMij.jpg

With the price of batteries tumbling, it might be wise to hold off from buying an EV right now. After yesterday, it seems we have more time at our disposal to make our minds up...

Best value EV on the market currently in the UK and this is a great deal including metallic paint 🔥
    SpeedbirdB777's avatar
Tesla Model is cheaper unless you’re paying cash!
  25. SpudGunner's avatar
Looks a decent deal, but still to early to move to electric for me. That spilt spoiler thing is absolutely hideous though, I would have to rip it straight off if I got one
    Chuck.Norris's avatar
The car looks bare without it, because it was designed to have it..

    To each their own though

As for the too early comment, for 2p per mile fuel costs, I don't think it's going to get much cheaper in future :/ (edited)
  26. Mr-Friday's avatar
Great cars. Don't believe all the rubbish written about lack of chargers etc. I'm currently parked up at M25 services. 8am on a weekday and there are loads of spare charging stations.
    jungleboy123's avatar
how much is a full charge?
  27. crack_shot's avatar
I've seen a few in person and they are real head turners
if you have home charging, you should buy this
    absolute bargain

from 2025, you'll have to start paying road tax- which is fair- roads full of heavier cars will mean more upkeep- when you see the facebook boomer meme about roman roads lasting 2000 years, i wonder how long they would last with hummer on them.

7 year warranty gives appropriate peace of mind
    markgh's avatar
I know what you mean, but there's no such thing as road tax. There's vehicle excise duty, which is currently based on emissions, but in an electric future the government can't afford to lose all that income.

Road maintenance is paid for from general taxation, meaning every earner pays for it. Which is why it's so annoying to see other people repeatedly claim cyclists don't pay to maintain the roads.
  28. deleted2844744's avatar
I suggest to put this car on a main page permanently. For some reason this pops up every week. :/
  29. quagmireuk's avatar
If an electric car suits your needs it's an OK car at an OK price.

It's Nothing special and a vehicle that looks amazing from some angles and hideous from others imo.
    jdcampbell's avatar
Hideous from every angle isn't it?
  30. Kostas_L's avatar
Hot it is not Tesla lol, seriously now, EV price war will get very intense finally some good news for customers.
  31. Gandalfthegrey's avatar
Description needs changing, its the LR, not the trophy.

What does it mean a long range ? 64kWh battery in Kia means 250 miles of effective range.
    Keir_Birch's avatar
It's in comparison to the se model which has lower range of 218 miles.
  34. reckoning's avatar
Some of the comments on here are quite astounding. If you're interested in the actual impact of both petrol/diesel Vs EV to the environment, I strongly recommend you Google it and not listen to anything on here.
    Salad's avatar
EVS are worse for the environment as mining lithium is far worse than oil. Plus with lithium you have to use copious amounts of fossil fuels to manufac6it lololol.
  35. ekko.star's avatar
A friend bought this MG. It's nothing special but ok. Cheapo interior and the screen is not the best. Styling is a personal thing but it does look odd from certain angles.

I expect EV prices to drop quickly now due to 2035. Manufacturers will be desperate to sell them now to hit the quota's. If you're in the market you may as well wait for better deals
    paulde2007's avatar

  36. DrunkOnRedWine's avatar
Looks wise not for me. Really don't like the styling. It looks particularly hideous in the orange colour.

    Seems good value though
    JimboParrot's avatar
    The red is also hideous.

    How do you think.....?

You could pick up a China produced mobile phone and ring your nearest MG dealer.
