Good time to trade in old devices in preparation for black Friday to get your discount
    N_Bb65's avatar
Does the 25% still work on top of the sale price?

I've a couple echo dots in a drawer, so a few cheap Ring Cams may be appealing!

£600 for 1 router, good lord.

Amazon's Matter (as well as Matter itself) is still lacking in so many areas and it doesn't look like it will be fixed until the middle of 2024, so the Hub and Show 8 would be quite limited right now. So probably best to wait until these come on offer, which they will on Black Friday.
    Hermitmaster5000's avatar
I'm buying no new smart home hardware until Matter is up and running properly. I haven't followed it much recently but I assume it's still not quite ready yet as none of the big players are talking about it/launching devices with it

For £599 i'd be expecting at least 10 10gb ethernet ports not 2.
    Uridium's avatar
You really have 10 devices with 10GbE ports in your home???

I'd suggest 99% of the UK population don't have any
  9. freemz's avatar
I like the look of the Echo hub, but that price is ridiculous, you can set up smart hub mode on a Fire 7 and they sometimes drop to £29
    nightyard's avatar
Do the microphones in the Fire 7 good enough for voice commands like an echo?I'm thinking about sensitivity and accuracy here. I'm planning to get one of these echo

    Will emergency assist be free?

"Alexa, call me an Ambulance, I'm having a heart attack"

Given how wordy Amazon devices are this actually wouldn’t surprise me. Lost count how many times i yelled “get on with it” at my Echo.

their tablets still only having 3gb ram is ridiculous in this day and age. It really hampers performance. such a small thing to improve these tablets

Have they done away with the pre-configured shortcut buttons and they are now user customisable or?
    dalealan's avatar
Wouldn’t think so. They'll probably just have different shortcuts depending on which region they sell them so they’ve put a blank pic on, probably be the usual Netflix and Disney+ in the UK version as they’ll pay or get a kickback to have the shortcuts on along with the prime video and music. Wish they’d just leave them all blank so we could chose what we want.

The way Amazon shove adverts everywhere possible in their products, Amazons TVs have lost appeal to me.
  23. SuperHardCousin's avatar
The consumer use case for that new Eero is tiny. Openreach aren't even at 2Gbps on FTTP, DIA is the only feasible way to get multigig and that's squarely at businesses.

its for the internal network speed

I like their Fire 10 tablets and was expecting a new one this year but disappointed that it still only comes.with 3GB of Ram.
    Bbqueue's avatar
I was thinking of getting a new one for my Mother to replace her 2018/9 model but yeah, 3gb seems like it's a bit low. Guess I'llbe researching budget tablets!

Does anyone have a view on the Amazon Eero mesh Wi-Fi range ..need to improve our home Wi-Fi and current Vodafone hub as it constantly drops out ..is it worth investing in Amazon kit over and above some of the networking manufactures, like tp-link etc. appreciate any views and if it’s worth clicking on eero deal in October? ..thanks

    Dominatez's avatar
Yes it runs it with no issues. Plex is on the amazon store.

There's me slowly getting my devices on WiFi6 and here comes WiFi7, though 6E is the latest standard it seems. I've got a Firestick 4k max already so was confused by the same description for a supposed new device. Noted then it's 2nd gen, just wondering whether it's worth upgrading from 4k max 1st gen to 2nd gen.

Differences aren't huge, but keen to find out more about the so called Ambient experience. WiFi6 on 1st gen Vs WiFi6E on 2nd gen plus 1.8ghz vs 2ghz processor. Has same amount of memory 2gb on 2nd gen. Storage jumps from 8gb to 16gb.
