Has your doctors gone back to mask wearing?

Just had this txt

Due to the increase in Covid19 related outbreaks we have been asked to return to mask wearing in practice. Staff will be wearing masks around the building and clinicians will be wearing them during appointments. To reduce the risk of transmission we encourage patients to do the same, particularly if you have respiratory symptoms. This is to minimise disruption to our service and ensure those most vulnerable are still protected when accessing care. Thank you for your understanding and co-operation.

Dont even own a mask anymore

Yes. I have started wearing it on the Tube because there are far too many people coughing and sneezing right now. Wearing a mask improved my own experience in the last few years irrespective of Covid.

You guys get to see your doctor? You have to bend over backwards to see a doctor at my local GP, 90% of the time it's a phone call.

You have to be dying to see ours then they tell you to call an ambulance instead

soon we will all have to pay to see a private GP, particularly in busy cities as you can't get face to face appointments any more in the busy cities. you have to be seriously ill to be able to visit the surgery, all appointments are telephone appointments only in some parts of the country.

I work 2 jobs and I think every single member of staff in both have had covid again at some point in the last 2months.

I reckon most of of the country must have had it recently as there are loads of people coughing and moaning of sore throats and aches. Most I hear say they "must have the bug which is going around."

When out and about shopping etc there are still loads of folks wearing masks all wrong. It makes me wonder do they know they have covid and are trying to stop it spreading or are they scared of catching it.
Either way still wearing a mask around the chin won't work
Or the classic over the mouth but it's that big you can see their mouth through the side

Not at my doctor's surgery when I went in last week, and amazingly it only took 45 minutes on the phone to get my appointment!

Are they using ffp3 masks this time, which will actually be effective against covid? Surgical masks in a confined place like a doctor's surgery are pretty much a waste of time.

Ah, mask wearing, It's more like virtue signalling.

I've noticed that come booster time COVID seems to become more prevalent. Especially amongst those that have been boosted recently.

Staff at my GP surgery was still wearing masks a couple of months ago but patients didn't have to

I haven't received any request to do so.

Nothing here. We went for covid booster at the weekend (they had a drop in session going) and were the only ones wearing masks.

If you have not, try to look into the safety of the boosters for you.

Best part of my Doctors is going through my medical issue with the secretary who is a family friend!

On that point, how long until a secretary 'mis-diagnosis' a patient and doesn't refer him to the GP and they subsequently fall seriously ill or die - hope these secretaries have insurance in place.

Yeah I hate that "vetting" process - more like a Spanish Inquisition you get from the "receptionist". Especially as they ask you probing question in the waiting room for all to hear.
My mother-in-law suffered from the same issue with her local practice being fronted by her cousin - we contribute this fact to the failure of early cancer diagnosis as my mother-in-law didn't want her condition to be a talking point.
Every one of my immediate family are or have been in the medical profession, sadly I have not been able to capitalise on that fact though!

I just got to see my doctor after several years about a cough I haven't been able to shift since July. Local pratice, no masks required, no staff wearing masks, however I was advised I needed a follow up x-ray. The letter from the hospital has advised I need to wear a mask.

Can’t get any appointments at my GPs for love or money. 5 hours at the walk in centre yesterday and they were wearing masks there (edited)

Observations from this week - my local Sainsbury's and Waitrose both now have boards at the entrance talking about hygiene and masks. The Caffe Nero has brought back the sanitiser pump bottle next to the sugar packets. From casual conversations with staff, the stores are seeing Covid related absence.
