If you print a lot, it’s cheaper to buy a load of these for the 6 months free printing than to keep subscribing to the 300 page HP Instant Ink package.

So just to make sure I've understood properly...

I can print 700 pages per month for the free trial period.

HP keep on delivering paper and ink to me as and when levels become low.

After 6 months I can cancel and incur no additional cost?

    Is my understanding correct?

    Thanks

They deliver ink as part of the trial, not paper but you can cancel and pay them nothing but make sure you remember to do so 21 days before the end of the trial. (edited)

    Long delivery?

It is a HP product so they will be getting these in all of the time. The estimate just means they are waiting for more to come in. I've ordered things like this before and they have come within a couple of days.

After back and forth, I decided to set it up without hp+ and instant ink as it sounds like it locks you out of using third party ink forever. I'll only use it occasionally so I think this is the correct choice, and if I need new ink I'll just buy whichever

According to the HP website you can go back to normal cartridges at any time. There is no lock-in involved:

    hp.com/gb-…tml

"What happens if you cancel HP Instant Ink?

If you decide to cancel your HP Instant Ink, you can go back to using HP original Standard or XL cartridges. HP Instant Ink cartridges will not work after the end of the current billing cycle in which you cancel. To continue printing after your billing cycle ends, make sure you have standard replacement ink cartridges ready to use in your printer."

Not a reflection on this deal as I think it's good... But it reminds me of borrowing my sons 7210 last month. I've never had such a battle to set up a WiFi peripheral in my life. I genuinly almost went full on Office Space on its plastic ass with the intention of buying my lad a new one afterwards.
Yeah, it got real personal with that printer and it's hundreds of associated apps. I hope it rusts in hell. 😁 (edited)

I feel your pain , these printers are evil.

I have one of these and it's not worth it, the ink cost is soso high, it goes through them quickly and it rejects 3rd party cartridge's too 😔 Going to switch to laser/ink bottles once this set of cartridges runs out...

    But is it any good?

I'm not sure myself. It gets really good reviews on Amazon and other websites. Very tempted to get one though.

For £27.98 for the equivalent of 6 months printing with Instant Ink (£4.66 per month) you can't really go wrong. Obviously have to pay for ink after that period.

That's an absolute steal when you consider that a pack of cartridges costs more than this. I've had a similar HP since 2019 and it's been faultless. I was on the 800 page subscription for uni but these days the 20 page plan is enough.

Now available on Amazon - Saw this previously listed from HP directly.

This is great for those with Amazon Prime looking for next day delivery.

Why would you cancel the instant ink tonight? - It comes with 6 months free. You might as well keep it for the full 6 months before cancelling.

What is the upper printing limit per month for the 6 months free instant ink? (edited)

I think it's the 700 page plan, which would normally cost £22.49 per month

what would people recommend for a very light printer user, as in it probably gets switched on once a week to print 2/3pages, its basically there just in case, would this be ok, dont like the idea of subscribing for ink but they all seem to do it

Personally I got a cheap mono laser printer, yes they're more expensive to buy but the toner never dries up and the heads don't clog which seems to happen to every inkjet printer, especially those that only print occasionally.

Sadly they're from about £80 but at least they'll likely work in 5 -10 years time even if you only print one page every few months....no inkjet can compete in that regards. (edited)

I’ve got 3 ~£30 HP’s b110i and 3520 in the family. All take 364’s and must be thousands of pages in at this point, 89p per chipped cartridge and fractions of a penny per page. Also the old Ricoh sp211 mono laser £20, although USB no AirPrint so you need to setup a computer to share it for bonjour or get a WiFi model. No sold on this new rental model.
